| Chrono Nexus12-02-06, 08:09 PM | Add some back stories! 1. Raised on the streets, this character was forced to eat salads to survive. He desires a blt and a side of fries. 2. The first child of a noble family, this character had a penchant for the undead.. he desires power over others, especially over their lives. 3. Born in a small and wayside village, this character was shunned by the local community.. but he taught them... Edit: Alright then.. 101 random @55 backstories for abnormal characters. |
| GaffeR12-02-06, 08:17 PM | :emp: Yes... |
| Think002812-02-06, 08:19 PM | Dangit, and I already had the witty rebuttal all written up... |
| Grim Sage12-02-06, 08:27 PM | It actually would be interesting to see some of the explanations people come up with for the myriad of CO-abominations out there... the infamous Chicken Slaad Sand Witch is an obvious humorous example, and I myself have questioned the origin of several results of template stacking... I think there might actually be something in this thread, wrong board or no, if we tie it to the CO-board :P |
| skydragonknight12-02-06, 09:34 PM | What domain allows you to turn roleplaying? ...j/k. Interesting idea. Might help balance the boards a little so we're not accused of commiting the Stormwind Fallacy(TM). Let me try a couple: 4. Rejected by his peers, he snuck into the human cities and searched through ancient tomes in their vast library for the secret to ultimate power. Through this, he discovered the Sarruhk. 5. As a young halfling, he was a devoted follower of the faith and grew up to be it's protector. Yet his love of animals led him to learn the ways of the beasts and become their master, driven by the desire to become an outrider... 6. As a child of both man and ogre, but accepted by neither, he was adopted by a tribe of giants. Fascinated by their ability to hurl rocks great distances, he devoted his training to throwing large objects like the giants who raised him, pushing his strength and carrying capacity to the limit and always on the search for giant spheres of metal... |
| Cherubaddon12-02-06, 09:56 PM | 7.) A drow who shunned his kin for their horrible ways, set out to live a life of adventure and learned fighting with twin scimitars? Noo... don't kill me! |
| X-Codes12-02-06, 10:42 PM | This doesn't go here. Yes, I like roleplay as much as the next guy, but I'm also a neat freak... to a certain extent, and this doesn't go here. |
| skydragonknight12-02-06, 11:04 PM | Hmm...optimized builds could be made further playable with optimized backstories. The thread has potential...if it's theme changed from 101 generic, unoptimized backstories (that belong on the character development board) to "optimized build backstories" for existing builds on this board, the bizarre explanations of the monstrosities created on this board would be worth it's place here just for the entertainment value, IMHO. |
| GaffeR12-02-06, 11:07 PM | I HAVE always wanted to see a backstory for a Feral Mineral Warrior Anthropomorphic Baleen Whale Warhulk... I'll bet a lot of these could be solved with, "He was created in a lab by experiments of some crazy wizard". |
| Nanshork12-02-06, 11:14 PM | I'll bet a lot of these could be solved with, "He was created in a lab by experiments of some crazy wizard". I'm actually working on a build with that basic backstory, just replace "crazy wizard" with "cult of chaos". |
| Tleilaxu_Ghola12-02-06, 11:20 PM | Yar, I agree with X-Codes, this is something that is tailor made for the Character Development board. Just to add something: 8.) Raised in northern winchestershire, this ostentatious brit wears a safari hat, has a handle bar mustache, and smokes a pipe. Despite his incredible ability to speak complete non-sense and talk your ear off, he suffers from amnesia and simply cannot remember his own name. Asking him what his name is causes him to fluster and try to ignore you, if you ask him multiple times he's liable to break down crying. |
| WizO_Autumn12-02-06, 11:32 PM | Keep the list going-- just over on the appropriate board. *Whisks thread to the Char. Development Board* |
| Need_A_Life12-04-06, 01:05 PM | 9) H.I.V.E. In his youth he was a hippie, always trying to press "animal rights" and prove that insects were in fact smart. Now he's proven his point that they're smart and charismatic enough to win over anybody... and for some reason they seem to have enough dragonblood in them to manifest sorcerous abilities. |
| id33112-07-06, 10:50 AM | Born the son of a Horned Devil and a human his mother died on the night of his birth and he was found by a cleric of Heironeous who took him in time passed he was hidden and raised he became a paladin of heironeous |
| TroubleWolf12-07-06, 03:23 PM | 11.) This child of a barbarian tribe is thoroughly convinced that he is really a god trapped in the body of a mortal. He uses a blend of might and magic to defeat his foes, every day hoping he is closer to reclaiming his ascendancy. |
| jaceofwater12-07-06, 10:07 PM | This young dwarf was kidnapped when he was young and the first whisps of a beard were growing on his chin. His kidnapper used him as an assistant in graverobbing, mostly dwarven sites. He threatened his life as a penalty for attempted escape. A well-hidden trap ended the kidnapper's life, and the dwarf stole his tools and took up a trade tracking down graverobbers and other defilers of ancestry. |
