| DBoot06-29-05, 05:06 PM | In the spirit of the 101 and 1001 threads I bring you 101 Cliches. Why Cliches? For one, its something to avoid. For another, and contradictory reason, Cliches make for fertile ground, if twisted around a bit. So lets see if we can do 101, and if we can, 1001. 001. Master/father was killed by a rival, character seeks revenge. 002. Character wields an impracticaly large sword. 003. Left home to escape an arranged marriage. 004. Actually a royal, traveling incognito. 005. A Dwarf with a Scottish accent and a love of mead. |
| Hav0k06-29-05, 06:37 PM | 006: Any of the builds from character optimization. 007: Beholder rising from a chasm below. 008: A kender saying "oops." 009: "Bow before me." 010: Pizza and Mountain Dew during a gaming session. |
| Hav0k06-29-05, 06:39 PM | 011: A dwarf who was kicked out of the clan. 012: A "Smart" half-orc. 013: A player trying to say they made a character for the Roleplay when it is obviously a "rollplay" character. |
| Quarterstaff06-29-05, 07:40 PM | 14. Bards with rapiers 15. the wizard who acts reserved all the times 16. ilithids always found just as they open into a fresh brain 17. drow with two weapon fighting 18. Fighters who dump stat cha int or wis making it impossible for the player to RP them properly 19. Meatshield half-orcs |
| DBoot06-29-05, 07:56 PM | Hav0k: Some cool ones, but 006, 010, and 013 are more gaming convention cliches than in-game cliches. 020: A nonevil drow. (especially wielding dual scimitars) 021: A fallen Paladin. 022: A redeemed villain. 023: A good but melencholy vampire. 024: A riddle-telling genie. 025: A wise-ass familiar. 026: A low cha caster with a frog familiar. 027: A lawful stupid Paladin. 028: A Paladin in gold armor. 029: A Blackguard in black armor. 030: A good healer but otherwise useless female character. 031: A Womanizing Rogue. 032: A Fighter-type party leader. 033: An uncouth or otherwise uncivilized axe wielder. 034: An eccentric gnome (especially a tinkerer). 035: Half-Orc Barbarian, Dwarven Fighter, Halfling Rogue, et al. 036: Necromancers with a skull motif. 037: Monks with sandals. Admit it. 038: Villains who laugh maniacally. 039: A 'tough'/'cool' character with a cloak or cape. 040: Red eyes and/or white hair. 041: Wizards with glasses. 042: Bumbling old conjurer who always comes through in a pinch. 043: Clumsy female protagonist. 044: ****-retentive villains. Double points if they're vampires. 045: Villains who use goblets for anything. 046: Villains with a needlessly high Charisma (ex. High Charisma Monk). 047: Useless Bards. 048: Rangers with butt-chins (sorry, couldn't help myself). |
| Shar_Narishma06-29-05, 08:36 PM | 048 female fighter with high charisma 049 blond elven archer 050 dwarven cleric with warhammer 051 charismatic champion swordsman |
| Dandrie Swift06-29-05, 08:37 PM | 052: monologing villain 053: vermin infested cellar 054: busty barmaids 055: mysterious man with dark past 056 comic relief in the form of sovereign glue *doh, had to renumber everything |
| EvilDuck06-29-05, 08:59 PM | 57: An annoying bard 58: A kleptomanic rogue 59: A hyperaggressive barbarian 60: A meditative monk 61: A devout cleric 62: A bookish wizard |
| The Voice of Sauron06-29-05, 09:07 PM | I agree with the poster complaining about dwarves and Scottish accents; just once I would love to see someone play a dwarf with a French accent. But here's a few more things I'm tired of: x: The unwritten rule that wizards wear fancy robes, even when travelling through wilderness. x+1: Kleptomaniac halflings. x+2: People who think "Kender" and "Halfling" are interchangable. x+3: Alcoholic dwarves. x+4: Effeminate elves. x+5: Half-orcs with monosyllabic animal noises for names (Seriously, folks, even Tolkien's orcs had two syllables in their names, like "Shagrat" or "Azog"). x+6: Paladins who kill anything that shows up on their "Detect Evil" screen. x+7: Players who think playing a Barbarian gives them licence to do dumb things, even when said Barbarian has a listed intelligence of 10 or better. That's all I can think of for now. |
| Quarterstaff06-29-05, 09:16 PM | 70. kobolds who never set traps even though they have a racial bonus 71. the kingdom under attack from savage races and requres your help to save it (i mean how many times have all of us heard that) 72. gruff and reserved rangers 73. rangers with short beards (ie aragorn) 74. The lich never does anything intelligent with its phlyactry 75. how villains lose all common sense when they become evil (referring to 74) |
| trappedslider06-30-05, 01:37 AM | 76. a flying monkey :D |
| EvilDuck06-30-05, 01:55 AM | 77. The druid that likes nature a lot. 78. The hardass paladin. 79. The magic gnome. 80. The princess is in distress 81. The adventurers are needed to solve any and all major problems. |
| Abyssal Stalker06-30-05, 02:37 AM | 82. A two-handed weapon-wielding fighter/barbarian using power attack to deal massive amounts of damage - allthough it's an effective cliche! 83. A wizard/sorcerer shooting magic missiles and fireballs - as 82. :D |
| Need_A_Life06-30-05, 07:34 AM | 84. The hunchback, moronic, orc of sub-humanoid intelligence (Int >3, Wis >3 Cha >3) hulking barbarian (Str +14, Con +14) |
| stranger-65406-30-05, 07:54 AM | 85: parents killed when young...by evil humanoids(i.e goblins) |
| Need_A_Life06-30-05, 08:13 AM | 86. Orphan. |
| stranger-65406-30-05, 08:21 AM | 87: tough outside but lovable inside |
| EvilDuck06-30-05, 08:28 AM | 88. Evil guy looks like a girl. 89. Evil girl wears lots of leather and has a whip. 90. Female characters played by guys always use seduction at some point in their careers. |
| obrysii06-30-05, 11:31 AM | 91. Male characters played by girls are either a. feminine or b. homosexual 92. Female characters played by guys are either a. a tomboy or b. homosexual |
| Need_A_Life06-30-05, 11:42 AM | 93. Gets drunk whenever in town. |
| EvilDuck06-30-05, 11:47 AM | 94. An elf is haughty and arrogant 95. Old men always have suprising relevant tidbits of wisdom for the party. 96. There's a gazebo somewhere... |
| Need_A_Life06-30-05, 01:08 PM | 97. Dwarves can always outdrink other races. Even the half-dragon troll barbarian with Great Fortitude. 98. Rogues backstab party members whenever they're given the option regardless of motives. |
| Dremik-the-Taupe06-30-05, 03:29 PM | 99. Paladin commits genocide against goblins without saying anything, then peacefully resolves a situation involving a human who has obviously done something wrong when the DM never really explains why there had to be 300 green corpses. Goblins are peoploid too, give peace a chance! 100. Players are fighting for the right side, and did not actually just kill off the last of the lost, lawful good gnoll subrace while working for a very sneaky necromancer plying the foolish paladin on a quest for world domination, desguising his evil motives as a noble church action. Just a thought on racial stereotypes. Don't let D&D be racist too. You know I'm right. |
| Need_A_Life06-30-05, 03:50 PM | @ 100. You don't want to see some of the plots I've played (in free-form mind you), I started with the mission to clear out an orc infested mine and ended up as a general for them. It was fun. 101. Background comes from movies (family killed by orcs, abandoned comfy life, city was attacked by a dragon but you slayed it with a lucky arrow) |
| Valefor Arkshan06-30-05, 05:27 PM | 102 - Begin the campaign in a tavern 103 - The party consists of a Fighter, Cleric, Rogue, and Wizard/Sorcerer 104 - The good guys win in the end 105 - PC's are good as dead, then some NPC with an ungodly blade saves the day 106 - You start in the weakest part of the world 107 - the evil forces will never simply blast you out of existance, they will instead coddle you until you are strong enough to take them down 108 - Bad guy's evil sanctum looks like an evil sanctum 109 - evil places are dark and dreary |
| The Voice of Sauron06-30-05, 05:44 PM | Sounds like the DMs have never read the Evil Overlord List (if I had a link, I'd post it), a solid starting point for anyone interested in playing a villian as smart as s/he is. More tired cliches: x: Plate-armored dwarves x+1: Pyromaniac spellcasters x+2: Campaign opener: the barfight x+3: Major PC goal: exterminate (insert sentient, evil race) x+4: Druids who want to burn down all the cities X+5: UberNPCs (my main gripe with the Forgotten Realms) |
| Dremik-the-Taupe06-30-05, 10:45 PM | Evils of Human race not checked by short, hyper intelligent, goat drinking (that's right), prickly humanoids with advanced craftsmen who do not need to utilize metals for most of their tools. All campaigns I am yet to see fall into this. Think about it. |
| ShiverTheBard07-01-05, 03:29 AM | 108. Horny Wizard uses Mage Hand to grop hot women. 109. Badass character with a heart of gold AKA Kev, the Mail Clerk 110. Kung Fu guy, out for nonspecific revenge. (Also in Fighting Games.) 111. Enemies so stupid they deserved to be killed. 112. The PCs never run when up against to hard of an encounter and die. (Happens a ton.) I think thats enough for me. |
| DuskyFruit07-02-05, 08:38 AM | 113. Skizofrenic characters 114. Claustrophobic characters 115. Redeemed fiends (I think that half the abyss turned LG after BoED came out) |
| EvilDuck07-02-05, 09:03 AM | 108. Horny Wizard uses Mage Hand to grop hot women. This is a cliche for you? I can only wonder... 116. A rogue who steals things 117. The lich has a maniacal scheme and isn't content with immortality and mighty magical powers. 118. The fighter is dumb and likes swords. |
| Need_A_Life07-02-05, 12:21 PM | 119. The mighty kingdom modelled over ancient rome with legions to match is incapable of defending themselves against the tribe of 16 orc warriors. 120. There is always a cleric/adept in a town. No bonesetters needed, just cure light wounds. Grrr |
| Talinna07-02-05, 02:52 PM | 121. "insert god" plucks up your party to do "said mission" or else 122. big bad monster blocks the only path into/out of a very important city/dungeon/maze/pit (you get the point) 123. Rogue commits greedy act that nearly gets the whole party killed 124. The only party member who knows that the rogue is nothing more than a theif is NE or CE and thus doesn't care as long as said character leaves his goodies alone. 125. NPC wizard has a pet dragon (and you just found it!!!) |
| Need_A_Life07-02-05, 03:10 PM | 126. Wizards may be able to lay countries waste but they have bad memory, are skittish and find pointy hats to be high fashion |
| Otogi07-04-05, 12:59 PM | 127. If your party consists of a Psychic Worrior, Psion, Soulknife and Wilder. 128. If your PC's only motive is revenge 129. Evil Scocerers! 130. Your campain takes more than a year 131. A guy picks a Female Human Barabarin that seems to have almost no clothing on. 132. A girl picks a Male Elf Ranger that seems to be romantic and deep with whatever he says and dose. |
| Berzerker_prime07-07-05, 10:25 PM | 133. Wood elf with inexplicably blonde hair! Berz. |
| clovex07-07-05, 10:59 PM | x+1 after being imprisoned as background for a while pc is ready to escape and start adventuring x+2 npc never claims part of the loot x+3 psionic character with infinite point reserve x+4 dwarves who always have some money to pay/bribe npcs x+5 rogues wearing black x+6 monk wearing ligth colours x+7 barbarian with ac 30 who is describe as wearing nothing but a furry underwear and a helmet(go conan) x+8 anything lotr-like as first character |
| Need_A_Life07-08-05, 02:46 AM | 142. Elven archer 143. Pirate with an eye-patch 144. No matter what the character of a person they'll sacrifice everything for the strangers who broke the laws of their land (the party) 155. Walking around in the cold wasteland in nothing but a loincloth doesn't give you a cold. 156. Commiting homocide without evidence to justify it is allowed as long as you call yourself an adventurer. 157. Kings trust the party, no matter their reputation. |
| RavenoftheCrags07-08-05, 10:44 AM | I havent read them all so I may be repeating some: A crafty halfling thief A halfling with a love for food and drink A halfling A super intelligent mage controlled by a not so intelligent player An exile (or a character forced to leave their country/city) |
| Need_A_Life07-08-05, 11:37 AM | Since you can by level 20 have an intelligence score of over 54 having a less smart player simply means that the player does not need an extradimensional space for his brain... |
| jameswilliamogle07-08-05, 01:51 PM | your parents were slaughtered in a (insert humanoid) raid; they trained you to be a (insert fighter or rogue style class), but one night you betrayed them all, slaughtering them in their sleep. i think that one comes from the background story of the leader of the assasin's guild of the city of greyhawk camp. setting, 1st ed, but ive heard it countless times. youd think the (humanoids) would get wise after a while... |
| RavenoftheCrags07-08-05, 03:45 PM | What I mean is, the wizards personality in general is that he is wise and thinks before he acts. Nothing to do with score. Chitter chitter squeak *gnaws a bone* |
| Arklich07-08-05, 11:21 PM | 164. "Nicknames" (Aeron "Blackmarket" Smith, James "Fireball" Sorceri, etc...) edit: in fact, i'm a little surprised no one has made a "101 nicknames" thread yet... |
| floaterbo07-09-05, 10:38 PM | That wasn't Cliche before Drizzt, and it was the genius of those books that made it cliche. |
| DBoot07-09-05, 11:21 PM | floaterbo- No doubt. However, if you were to ask board regulars how often they've had a dual wielding good drow in their party, you'd have enough to qualify it as a cliche. You yourself seemed to have no disagreement with that. |
| trappedslider07-10-05, 12:46 AM | Sounds like the DMs have never read the Evil Overlord List (if I had a link, I'd post it), a solid starting point for anyone interested in playing a villian as smart as s/he is. here we goEvil Overlord List (http://www.eviloverlord.com/lists/overlord.html) 165-doing everything wrong from that list (I have an Evil bad guy for my d20 modern and i'm using that as his building point. |
| Need_A_Life07-10-05, 10:10 AM | 166) Evil people has to make a monologue before attacking... 167) Paladins will tell people to save themselves and stay to fight himself... against an army of Balors... while level 3. 168) The players never hate elves, halflings or humans. 169) Dwarves hate elves, orcs and loves gold and gems |
| Dick Dastardly07-11-05, 07:47 PM | X+1 the fighter, adventuring to gain wealth and save a dying relative X+2 the evil villain who sits in his dungeon. tower/ castle all day ordering minions about. |
| Need_A_Life07-12-05, 02:17 AM | 172. Sorcerers are good-lookers...* * High charisma is FORCE OF PERSONALITY, people! Not how they dress or how few scars they have. :tantrum: |
| Dippiey07-12-05, 03:40 PM | 173. An orphaned character with half a medallion. :) |
| Jaisin07-12-05, 04:09 PM | 174. Twins with shared abilities and weaknesses 175. The evil mercenary band that are exact evil replicas of the PCs with scars and more revealing outfits 176. The recurring villain who always shows up to taunt the PCs months after having been crushed underneath falling debris 177. The NPC, innocuously known as "Bob", who is outfitted with the party's left over magical gear and sent to "sniff out" traps while in dungeons, or carry all the heavy supplies between cities 178. The benevolent king has just died, and the warring factions of the council could not possibly do anything about investigating the strange death without the other factions knowing, "so that's why I brought you young adventurers to this inn" 179. The Heirloom +3 Flaming Keen Bastard Sword of Ultimate Doom that my great grandfather Tyrannar the Relentless passed to his son Tyrannar II the Underachiever passed to his least favorite son Sloshy the Town Drunk who was killed in a Goblin Raid last week and I get to keep it because of this cool history that I made up that makes total sense for my 1st level Half-Dwarven, Half Celestial, Exalted Fighter with Sacred Vow and Vow of Poverty (It's useless to anyone else so there's no real value in it, so it doesn't break my uber-progression)! - BTW whomever thought up the idea of magical items as heirlooms should be shot. Repeatedly. 180. Elves who look like Robin Hood 181. Greedy Merchants who renig on their deal with PCs and hire the evil look-a-like party from 174 to dispose of them 182. The Greedy Merchant's boss who didn't really know how evil his second in command was, and everything that happened while he was gone wasn't his fault, nor does it have lasting ramefications in the storyline because the DM wants to take the party in a different direction 183. Paladins who don't tithe and have 15 magical items "on loan" from Bob, the-NPC-who's-good-for-everything-metagame. 184. The ever widening family tree of the PC's patron of people who are in trouble and in need of rescue 185. "The gods have commanded it" 186. "we're on a mission from the gods" 187. The mysterious, beautiful female dressed in a toga who appears on the PC's stoop with apparent amnesia, and turns out to be the evil seductress whose only measure of fooling the PC's was self-imposed amnesia, but she ends up falling in love with the party paladin and has a conflict of heart in the final showdown and the paladin and seductress "sacrifice" themselves as the dungeon collapses on top of the Abyssal gate she opened just prior to the PC's coming in - and becomes a saint 188. The Gandalf-like mentor 189. When the party gets a great idea, like fireballing a necklace of missles amidst the masses of gibberlings attacking them, the DM only rolls 10d6 because the necklace "malfunctioned" at the last instant 190. Fighters starting off with chainmail 191. Magic Missiles that look like blue, free floating arrows 192. Barbarians who eat only raw meat 193. Druids with useless totem animals like Horse Fly. . . oh, wait, only NPC druids ever have useless totem animals that end up being uber-powerful, and never accessible to PCs after the adventure 194. What is an "iron ration" anyway? and why do people always have a week's worth? 195. Rugs of Welcome at a wizard's tower 196. Wizards' towers 197. Scatterbrained gnomes 198. Villains always have long, complex rituals involving virgin daughters of kings that are easily interrupted by low-level PC's, guarded only by stupid orcs or thoughtless skeletons, that even if completed grant only a +1 bonus to Will saves for 1 day so that. . . 199. Chaotic Neutrals can get away with anything |
| The Equalizer07-13-05, 08:51 PM | 200. 101 and 1001 threads :) LOL 201. Characters that have amnesia and no backround at all. :banghead: |
| Bard-of-all-trades07-13-05, 09:20 PM | 202: A fight breaks out in the tavern you start your adventure in!! On a personal note, I don't see what's so cliche about halflings ... A crafty halfling thief A halfling with a love for food and drink A halfling |
| Shugenja_OT_Void07-13-05, 09:34 PM | 203. All orcs are barbarians. 204. all drow are wizards/clerics. 205.The charecters are invited to a bar.... 206.The Fighter has a bigger sword than himself 207.The entire party was taken straight from Final Fantsy games. |
| Worguron07-14-05, 12:08 AM | 204. all drow are wizards/clerics. You forgot the corellary to that one. 204a. Except for the ones who are Chaotic Good Rangers who use Scimitars. |
| Need_A_Life07-14-05, 06:51 AM | x) The PCs can be hired by anyone, they can't hire anyone to do the hard work... x+1) clerics heal party members... despite their stupidity x+2) Druids are hippies... BUT don't object to cutting down trees to make a campfire so that you can roast a dozen hares that you shot previously. |
| Eidolon Faer07-14-05, 02:03 PM | 208. A kender who steals from the party, including the Fighter's magic sword and the Wizard's spellbook. 209. Said kender being genuinely surprised at being caught in the first 5 seconds. 210. Said kender saying "C'mon guys, it's ROLEPLAYING!" 211. The party mysteriously failing to lynch said Kender. 212. A villain whose plan is to BLOW UP THE WORLD (bwahahahaha!) despite the fact that, should he succeed, he'd have no place to store all his cool stuff. Oh...and since we've had a link to the Evil Overlord's List appear on this thread, I'd also like to recommend an old series of fantasy novels by Jack Chalker called the "Dancing Gods" novels. I think the first one is "River of the Dancing Gods." In that series, the world is run by "The Book of Rules" which contains such gems as "No less than 30% of all places of magical power shall be dark towers. Practitioners of the Dark Arts shall be given preference in ownership of such sites." or "Heroic adventures are always trilogies." |
| ~Black Knight~07-15-05, 10:10 PM | A crafty halfling thief That's because all the not-so-clever ones are locked up in jail. x+5 rogues wearing black I agree. All assassins should wear bright pink while stalking their prey. anyway, 213 cowardly goblins 214 weak kobolds 215 evil twins 216 Elves speak fluent common and yet all orcs, regardless of their intelligence, are grammar-challenged. |
| UltimateReality07-16-05, 12:04 AM | Cliches specific to our gaming group: a) The smart aleck, sarcastic wizard (only gives back the flak she gets from NPCs and stupid party suggestions ;)) b) the dwarven monk c) halfling rogue d) the player who always has the switch-its. (I.e, can't keep character longer than a session before getting bored and wanting to play something else.) e) the Girly Character(tm). Played by a girl. f) the confusion of gender pronouns when a male player has a female character (yet to see a female play a male!) g) He or She Who Does Not Read The Handout Or List of Allowed Material. Known by the DM's harried cry, "If you had only read page xx, you would know this!" h) the giving of extra xp to those who show up on time, even if they live at the gaming location. i) meet in a @*&%#$%* tavern, start with a bar fight j) go fight undead/unholy legion from Hell bent on taking over world k) vampires! l) necromancers, tied to cults of Nerull or Orcus. See J and K, above. m) the "oops I didn't realize that would almost TPK you" session n) the strong, silent character. Usually monk. o) healbot cleric, followed closely by melee cleric In the context of all the groups I've gamed with, I tend to notice player cliches instead...the kinds of characters they always create. But my favourite cliche is the one or two most campaigns seem to be based on: 1) Something strange is going on. Travel to X Dungeon to smash stuff and then figure it out at the end. 2) Something strange is going on. Talk to a bunch of NPCs and have a climactic fight scene at the end. |
| RedLightning00607-18-05, 12:52 AM | 173. An orphaned character with half a medallion. :) Happened in a campaign I ran... He found the person with the other half... and he got an xp bonus for having them recite the double dragon oath-thing while uniting the medallion. |
| nephtis07-18-05, 09:25 AM | [QUOTE=The Voice of Sauron]Sounds like the DMs have never read the Evil Overlord List (if I had a link, I'd post it), a solid starting point for anyone interested in playing a villian as smart as s/he is. Here it is: http://www.kemitix.uklinux.net/humor/overlord.php But admit it: No group of RP characters would stand a chance against a BBEG with common sense. :D |
| bluejay12-08-05, 01:02 PM | numbering irrelevant at this point and nobody is going to read this, but I like the thread: - foul stenches - heavily-armored dwarves - while in transit, party witnesses ambush - party meets in tavern, fight breaks out - "that´s a hit" - orphaned characters - battle-ready clerics - party happens upon item of unknown magic power - bards who cast grease and glitterdust - druids wildshaping into bears - druids objecting to the slightest harm done to plant life - "bottomless" chasms - player whose character reaches zero HP begins arguing with DM over rules |
| JulesCARV12-08-05, 02:58 PM | Not sure if these are really clichés, but then, I suspect that many of the ones posted previously are kinda sketchy as clichés too (some of them seem like all possibilities are covered: ("intelligent half-orc" "stupid, muscle-bound half-orc barbarian." I guess the only half-orc that isn't clichéd is one with average int?). So here are mine. Some are generalized fantasy / swords and sorcery clichés, more than gaming clichés, but I hope they amuse you nonetheless . 247 (I think). Bastard son of nobleman who resents his half-noble, half-commoner status, jealous of the former and contemptuous of the latter. 248. NPC baddies who refuse to drop their weapons and surrender, even if the party has just killed the four other people in their squad without taking any casualties and have them surrounded five to one. "This ain't over yet, you ****ers!" -- said by NPC baddy, six seconds before entirely predictable death by greatsword after being offered the oppurtunity to surrender by Lawful Stupid paladin. 249. Fierce halfling barbarian 250. Old good-guy leader in exile (e.g., the prime minister of the good king before the usurper killed him and exiled the prime minister) who gives the party good information but believes that the situation is unsalvagable and has withdrawn from worldly affairs and concentrated on growing cabbages or something; gives PC's lots of useful info which allows them to proceed on their quest, but tells them it's hopeless. 251. PCs can go from slogging through swamps covered in orc guts to high-society balls and royal audiences without changing their clothes, taking baths, shaving, etc. No one notices this. 252. PC hears a crunch underfoot as she enters the cavern, and lo! It's a mouldering humanoid skull! 253. Roguish, tomboy princess. 254. Foppish, shallow, arrogant young nobleman. 255. Lecherous, obese, hypocritcal priest. |
| Llochlyn12-08-05, 06:47 PM | I'm surprised there haven't been any wolf as clichés yet... 256 : orphan character was raised by wolves 257 : druid has a wolf companion he knows since childhood... Yet, he will dismiss it higher level, come on, the dire tiger is soooo cool, can I have been raised by dire tigers ? 258 : DM who cheat on Reincarnation table... Ok, Drarauk the almighty two handed sword warrior who heroically died a few days ago. Lalylalen, the half elven outcast so tree hugger druid reincarnates you... In a GOBLIN *maniacal laughter* |
| Pan_Ai_Khan12-09-05, 08:39 AM | I was once a member of a band of happy looters and pillagers ... er ... Adventurers, where FIVE of the EIGHT characters in the party were (and I quote...) "The last surviving member of a (insert player race) settlement that was butchered by a (insert Goblinoid race) war party" I personally have played (all in seperate campaigns): - A Freed Slave / Gladiator, a Dark and Mysterious Necromancer, a Chop-Socky Flick Reject (Monk), and the Depressed and Brooding Paladin with a Death-Wish. Sometimes clichés are fun! |
| TheNeonSamurai12-18-05, 05:21 PM | 88. 90. Female characters played by guys always use seduction at some point in their careers. I think thats because all Female's actually use seduction at MANY points in their careers... (except fat chicks) "Fat chicks need loving too... but they gotta pay" - Quagmire |

| Pandaemoni12-21-05, 09:51 AM | --the doddering, old, eccentric sage-like character who knows more than he's telling you --the doddering, old, eccentric sage-like chacter gets killed in some improbably dramatic way that prevents recovery of his body --the doddering, old, eccentric sage-like character turns up alive later, having survived the certain death |
| JohntheDM12-21-05, 02:23 PM | Samurai character who speaks tersely with a heavy japanese accent and who seems to think that everything-all the way down to how he cleans his equipment or eats his dinner involves matters of the deepest honor. |
