| Need_A_Life10-20-06, 03:26 PM | Seeing as how I'm in a good mood, I'll try to create one of these ever-popular lists for the greatest race in modern time: the Warforged. While they may have any personality that a human may have, I would find it more interesting to actually write them out (helps in case of writers block). Many people play warforged in the same fashion and I thought it was time to see just how many different types there are. 1. The logical. This warforged completely suppresses his emotions, trying to attain a perfectly logical state of mind, he sees it as a failure that he has emotions, an unnessecary part of warforged design. 2. The soldier. When your commander tells you to do something, you do not question it; simply do it. If the order means certain death for you, then that's a price you're willing to pay. You are not a person to be burdened with the weight of morality; you are the sword that your commanders swing. 3. The humanitarian. You see the suffering of others and feel despaired when you cannot help them. You wish to mend the bones of others and you're willing to fight for the life of one of your charges, though you may be in doubt over whether it's proper to kill over it. 4. Warforged supremacist. When one sees the majestetic powers of the warforged it is hard to imagine how they were created by a race as weak and pathetic as humans (or dead giants, as some say). You do not sleep, tire or require sustenance of any kind; how anyone could see your kind as inferior is beyond you. You see the way your people is unjustly treated and speak out against the evils of humanity, lighting a righterous fire of justice within every warforged and leading them towards your destiny of rulership. Continue at will. |
| Otogi10-20-06, 06:57 PM | 5. The Human in permanant armor (ala Fullmetal Alchemist). Your not a macine. Your not a golem. You are not a toy for humans. You are a person, and deserve to be treated as such. Despite having no organs, you have a heart. You are a person, not a soldier, and not a tool. (A warforged warlock I used) |
| Need_A_Life10-21-06, 03:20 PM | 6. Anarchist. Humans have enslaved you long enough, they made you to die in their stead, to follow orders and die when your makers were to weak and cowardly to do so. Now, the war is over and they say that you're free. But if you're truly free, no rules apply to you, now do they? |
| Orchomenos10-23-06, 02:09 PM | 7. The Nihilist. You were created for War, but the War is over. What's the goal now? Explore everything, since nothing has importance. Get the most for yourself, since you have nothing. |
| axraelshelm10-23-06, 02:58 PM | The child, once you were woken up from your birthing chamber you see your first race for the first time and it's a dwarf. You learn from your adopted parent the ways of the mountain hoards and you see yourself as a member of that race and act accordingly to their tradition and you'll see to it that your acepted as one of their own. |
| Worguron10-24-06, 12:53 AM | One word for a character to emulate as a Warforged - Data. |
| Radijs10-24-06, 11:20 AM | The psychopath (Think HK-47). You're a completely homicidal psychopath but enthralled to somebody who doesn't want you to go out and eliminate all the meatbags. Its best if the person enthralling you is another party member. |
| Tiefling_Warlock10-24-06, 05:19 PM | Depressed. |
| mkill10-25-06, 07:53 AM | 12 The professional: You were created for a job, you do your job. Your aim is to execute every assignment you are given in the most perfect way possible. You do not accept human failures and inconsistencies, you don't even understand them, and you definitely don't have patience for it. In fact, the only reason a group might want to have you around is because you in fact are damn good at what you're doing (be that tanking, artificing, trapsearching or whatever). |
| The Brat Prince10-25-06, 11:33 AM | 13- The Explorer. With the Last War over, your former purpose in life is now lost. As an attempt to fill the void, you've taken to digging into the history of your people, trying to find out the reasons the primordial Warforged of Xen'Drik were created. Also, you may turn an eye towards the Draconic Prophecy, searching its ever-changing patterns for signs of the future of the Warforged race. 14- The Healer. As clerics heal the flesh-races, so you heal your stone-skinned bretheren. An artificer well-versed in warforged repair and the repair damage infusions, your goal is to put back together any Warforged who needs it. Perhaps you have a greater goal in "healing" the Warforged race from its different factions. 15- The Deserter. Having grown weary or horrified with the battles of the Last War, you deserted your army, running away to be as far from the font as you could get. perhaps you hired on as a farmhand, babysitter, or laborer. You live with some level of shame in your actions, but deep inside you know that the War was wrong and that you weren't totally to blame for abandoning it. |
| Archeon of_Endtimes10-25-06, 08:08 PM | 16 The Penitent - You were a killing machine in the war, bathed in blood and surrounded by death. That was the life you knew. You thought there was nothing else. Then the war ended. Now that you have a chance to meet the people that you once would've killed on sight, you find that not only do you not truely hate them, but they are good people. You wish to atone for your past deeds and now serve those who need your aid- not out of duty, but out of respect and the wish to repay the deaths of all those who once stood before you. 17 The Recluse - You're not hated by the flesh-people, but their ways are so strange, you just can't seem to relate to anyone. You seclude yourself in your own mind, perhaps drowning out the outside world in a library or even living a solitary life in a sewer, a la Gollum. 18 The Druid - Having seen the horrors of civilization in the War, you flee to the forrests to become The Recluse. But during your self-imposed exile, you encounter a circle of druids and they teach you the ways of nature. Striping off your metal plating down to your wooden core, you become an embodiment of the Druidic way, to maintain the balance and to defend against the evils of enterprising civilization. |
| Azdraugnor10-25-06, 08:12 PM | 19. The Grumbler - You think that whoever made you was a moron. Nothing made for humans fits, and you look too weird to ever fit in. Wooden chairs are too rickety for sitting, rock walls are too crumbly for climbing, and basically everything is too small for your gigantic fingers. If you ever get your hands on the guy who decided to make you out of stuff that rusts - in a world where water falls from the sky - you're gonna punch him in the face. |
| mkill10-26-06, 04:47 AM | 20 The human(oid) wannabe You're a model that did not see much of this thing called "life" in your early days, trapped down in some mine deep under the earth as a slave laborer. Now that you are free, you admire the colors of the sky, the scent of flowers, the big cities... You'd do anything to become a real human (or dwarf? elf?) and you try to imitate their life as closely as possible to become a full flesh-being. There is a secret to be uncovered, and you are set out to do it. You try to sleep. You try to eat. You wear clothing and feel "naked" without it. You try to find out about friendship. Love. And Hatred, and all these other puzzling human emotions. In a way, you are an innocent, curious child, full of questions, with hundreds of answers waiting out there. |
| koboldlord10-26-06, 10:21 PM | 21. The Tinkerer: You were made to be modified. You were made to be adaptable. Live up to it! As it is now, your form is flawed, imperfect. Yet you have the tools to change that. The Warforged form is a thing of beauty, the ultimate canvas on which to work. (Warforged Artificer I once made, named Rune. When not otherwise occupied, he'd compulsively carve symbols into his plating.) |
| Nor'Morgwae10-28-06, 01:48 AM | 22) The Clueless: As much as you try, you do not understand the living organisms that seem to rule the planet. You cannot understand why they get so upset when they lose pieces that seemed ornamental anyway, or why they don't just bolt them back on if it's such a big deal. It makes no sense why cows that stand on 2 legs are evil and try to eat people and cows that stand on four are neutral and people eat them. Oh, and don't get you started on eating and drinking. Why bother if your just going to deposit it out behind that tree anyway? Fleshies, as you are wont to call them, just don't make sense. 23) The Revolutionary Constructs, living or otherwise, have been used and abused long enough. You seek out powerful magics to awaken your uninspired brethren (especially the big iron ones with the poisonous breath) in order to rally them into a new immortal nation. No hidden conclave will escape you keen eye. Every one of them must be free. You have nothing against non-constructs, but they better not try to get in your way. |
| TheChilliGod10-28-06, 04:37 PM | #24: The Wandering Soldier: A variant of #2. Since the war is over, you still desire to carry out orders and, in some cases, give them out as well. Thus you offer your combat-honed abilities to the first leader that catches your eye, and will obey their orders to the letter. Gold may or may not be an issue. However, if you are given suicidal orders, or learn of your leader's intent to destroy you (or when your leader dies), then they are immediately no longer considered your leader, and you will instantly leave (sometimes forcefully) to find another leader. Always you do your leader's bidding, and always when circumstances make him/her no more your leader, you move on. (PC Warforged of mine, gone through 4 leaders already) |
| dunkeykong11-05-06, 01:09 AM | this is an awesome thread, I didnt think anyone could come up with any besides the first three. This has given me some great material, I will definetley be referencing this thread in the future of my campains. |
| Need_A_Life11-06-06, 02:05 PM | 25. The chronicler. During the Last War your primary duty was now scewering enemy troops or performing crude repairs upon your allies, it was to supervise the battle and file a report with the appropriate officer who'd then send the proper change of orders to the battlefield. Today, you use this skill of grasping a situation and analyzing the strength of others for a much different purpose. Where you once gave reports on the numbers and weapons of Karrnathi soldiers, you now debrief to the Morgrave University about fantastic dragons of Argonessen and the rare flora of Xen'drik, providing details that no human mind would remember. Skills suggested: Autohypnosis, Search, Spot. 26. The Assistant. You were created as a mobile trayholder rather than an individual, when your master needed his Wand of Creation to channel his dragonmark into the Creation Forge you handed it to him before he even asked. When you were finally released from your masters services, you found yourself lacking a place. You are more likely than anyone to have been given radical alterations from your original design, some people might have gone as far as integrating a drawer in your chest, allowing you to store fragile items with relative safety, but most will have only minor alterations. Skills suggested: Sense Motive. More than one-quarter there! Wohoo! |
| mkill11-09-06, 05:57 AM | 27. the recluse During the last war, you were in the low ranks of a warforged unit. You fought, you fulfilled orders, you switched off when you were not needed. When the war ended, your unit disbanded, everybody ran off to find their own destiny, leaving you behind. Suddenly, nobody gave you orders. Suddenly, you had to make your own decisions. Suddenly, you had to cope with these living beings. Suddenly, nobody told you who's friend and who's foe. That left you uneasy and utterly confused. you don't have a clue what to do with your life until you stop functioning. And you have no idea how to fit into that human world. You don't even need much of what it offers. You don't eat, you don't sleep, you don't need shelter, you repair yourself. So far, you've been hiding in a secluded place staring at the sun, but then, is that what you call... Life? |
| Need_A_Life11-09-06, 11:14 AM | 28. Translator. You have an infinite capacity for knowledge and know how to store it in a logical and proper manner, why shouldn't you use this to continue serving your former masters? You may not draw a blade and charge the Valenar cavalry anymore, but helping your master negotiate with same beasts is just as productive, is it not? Suggested Skills: Autohypnosis, Decipher Script, Speak Language |
| Straylight11-10-06, 01:49 AM | 29. The Creator - Your purpose is to create. To build. To create, you must understand, and to understand you must learn. You seek out knowledge in all its forms, but particularly where the magics of creation or artifice are concerned. You were probably a greaser during the Last War, and now the Thronehold Accords have granted you the freedom to pursue your purpose as you see fit. You are probably a Wizard or an Artificer. (Currently playing a Warforged Arti who thinks like this.) 30. The Shield - You were created to fight battles too desperate or too bloody for humans. In effect, you were created to protect them from harm by attracting it to yourself. You may be a bodyguard, an adventuring troupe's point-man, or a worker in a high-risk job; and while you know on some level that creating you to die in their place was a selfish act on the part of your human creators, you have taken it upon yourself to protect these curious biengs, these humans, as best you can -even at the expense of your own life. You are probably a Fighter or Paladin. |
| mkill11-10-06, 08:58 AM | 31. The Fugitive After the Throne accords, your possessor didn't set you free, either because the contract didn't apply or because he refused to. You and the other warforged slaves had to obey, but not for long. During a quick but well-organized uprising, you fled. Your former master tried to catch you, and those he got were disassembled for spare parts. You managed to hide, and you have been hiding for a few years now. Maybe he gave up, but you can't be sure. You developed the skills to live the life of a fugitive and a keen sense of who you can trust. You don't like to stay in one place too long and you are uneasy around authorities. 32. The Evangelist House Cannith may have awakened you the first time, and gave you a mind. But only the moment you found your faith, you were awakened a second time and gained a true soul. You are convinced the true reason why you were created was to serve a higher purpose, and you seek out the answer in communion with your deity. You are bothered that other members of your faith are reserved or even hostile towards you. Aren't you the living proof that machines do have a soul? You are even more bothered about your fellow warforged who seem to resent the path to true awakening that you can offer them. Don't they realize that even they age and that even they must prepare for the afterlife? Even for a machine like you, it takes all the patience you can muster, but you are determined to bring light to those who are left in the darkness. |
| theultimatefrisco11-10-06, 03:38 PM | 21- The Uniter You know there are some advantages to being a warforged, but you don't tink that makes you a supremem being. You respect the other biological races as long as they respect you first. You can work with humans as long as they can work with you, and you try to disprove warforged stereotypes by example. This was actually my character in an Eberron setting- he liked people as long as they were reasonable and not racist. He was kind of like the MLK of warforged, only because he wanted to be. |
| the_fenris_wolf11-11-06, 07:12 PM | 22. The Terminator Your were built to destroy a specific target, and will destroy anyone or anything till you have destroyed your objective A spin off 23. The "Mission Complete" Terminator You have completed your goal and no longer have a purpose in life. |
| Need_A_Life11-12-06, 01:05 PM | Actual number is 36 to my count. 36. The envious. Why have you been given life when so many of the pleasures in life have been denied to you? You hear of so many types of pleasures that your kind has never had the opportunity to experience, but no human have ever considered helping you. If only you were a human... |
| FatherJoe11-12-06, 06:18 PM | 37: The pacifist Hired by an assassin's guild as an enforcer. :evillaugh (sort of a contradiction, warforge and pacifism) 38: The pyromaniac Hey, its not your fault that "gods" made their constructs of weak flesh and you with fireproof armor. Just my thoughts... |
| katman11-13-06, 06:02 PM | 39. Electrician. Sees electricity as a form of the primal spark that animates all warforged. Somewhat obsessed with it, but not necessarily to the extent of submerging his basic personality. Generally has at least one level of artificier, and is drawn to electricity-related magic items and/or the uses of electricity in assorted creation efforts or even healing efforts (when it was first introduced in our world, electricity was touted as a healing cure-all - and actually does have limited applications for the treatment of some brain/mental disorders... in a fantasy world, what if more of those supposed powers were potentially for real?). If evil, may become a creepy, metal version of the mad scientist type, with obvious Dr. Frankenstein possibilities. If good, consider the possible humour value of (the movie) Young Frankenstein as inspiration in a number of areas. |
| Skrimshaw11-13-06, 08:40 PM | 40: The broken. ERROR: Warning SU003.5 Setup has found commands in your AUTOEXEC.BAT(Familiar) or CONFIG.SYS files that are not compatible with wizards |
| Need_A_Life11-16-06, 02:33 PM | 41. The Destined. You know you were put in this existance to serve one purpose and one alone, regardless of your desire (or lack of same) in doing so. Perhaps you are trying to stall time, hoping that it'll make you immortal somehow or maybe you are rushing towards the only purpose you have in life, oblivious to its dangers. Besides, who knows if it'll be the end of you or the beginning of a new you? |
| Revlis11-16-06, 10:25 PM | 42. The Officer. You were specifically created and programmed to lead and direct other Warforged in battle. You are a master stratagist and a natural, or in this case, engineered leader. Every concious moment (EVERY moment) is spent either thinking up new and effective tactics or employing them in battle. (This one just screams Marshal) 43. The Cook. You were specifically designed with food in mind. You were created with a built in oven and followed your living commanders everywhere from the front lines to command headquarters supplying them with fresh cooked food on the spot. (I made this one once. His name: The Oven) |
| Prince Vine11-17-06, 12:12 PM | 44. The Melancholy Immortal. You live forever. You have lived forever! Time plods on and while things seem to change nothing ever does. Everything is always the same and so very meaningless. Why bother connecting to the world when most of it will die in a (relatively) short time anyway. 45. The Missing Link. You were created, you know that, but Warforged aren't like everything else created by magic. You know you're the missing link between the born and contructed, the living and the mechanical. You are now obsessed with finding what makes a living thing live and what is lacking in your construct brethren that living creatures have. |
| BarbeChenue11-19-06, 12:26 PM | 46. The Scientist - Like tools are man's mean of attaining knowledge through science, you mesh both tool and user into one seamless whole. Your very existence opens untapped possibilities inside a new realm of perceptions and comprehension. You are either likely to work alone to tap into your individual potential, or you understand the value of your very existence for mankind. You are curious to extreme and employ your reading and writting skills to great effects. You keep notes on what happens in your everyday life, and your scientific notes are usually considered flawless. Your laboratory is the world, you are both instrument and science. Skills: Knowledge, Speak Language, Autohypnosis 47. The Phenomenist - As an ageless being, you have understood the value that mortals may hold for eternal life. As you experience the phenomenons of existence, you sense that the universe is thicker than it appears, and you want to live it all. You try to encounter as many different things and events as possible, but set it up so you will still see the other day. Skills: Profession, Knowledge, Speak Language 48. The Circumspect - The prospect of immortality drove you on the side of radical caution. You are a calculative and well prepared strategist, you understand that a gram of protection is worth a ton of repair, and that the potential to avoid dangerous situations lies inside you. Impervious protection is essential, but planning and preparation are paramount. You are likely to dabble in divination or clairsentience, but if you are more military minded, you will likely develop radically safe strategies, trying to avoid casualities, especially if it concerns you. Skills: Spot, Listen, Sense Motive, Knowledge, Escape Artist |
| Ariath Ska'Vhor11-19-06, 10:15 PM | 49. The boring but innocent muscle. You're strong, real strong but it never really matters, you barely notice it. All your team-mates make you do the heavy load stuff and you do it without questioning it. You're also adorable as far as magic robots go so you're also all the ladies' favorite guy friends, especially because you won't cop a feel from them when you're distracted. When no one else is awake you just sorta sit there...a statue with glowing eyes and a brain. |
| Need_A_Life12-04-06, 01:11 PM | 50. The Broken. You were created in Cyre at the moment of the Mourning and the power of the blast halted your creation partway, leaving you a cripple and pitiful thing to look at. The position you were supposed to fill is beyond your capabilities to perform with any amount of reliability, though you try to fulfill the few requirements that House Cannith did get into you. Suggested Class: Wizard |
| Rowan_Whispercloak12-04-06, 02:17 PM | 51. Defective Unit. You were a test model, meant to be a fully working soldier. Most of the time you follow orders, but after you have received some damage, most of you're higher functions are gone and all you do is kill. A Berserker. Works best with the berserker strength variant from the PHB2, so you can have the flavor from the start. However Frenzied Berserker is also an option. |
| rphair12-05-06, 07:34 PM | Want to completely abandon the Eberron Warforged backstory and try something different? 52. The Ancient Iron Sage You were created hundreds of years ago, fighting for one company after another in wars that seemed never to end. Eventually, you fell in battle, or perhaps you just gave up on the war and wend into hiding. You shut yourself down, deciding that an eternity of absence was better than an eternity of suffering. You awakened, through one means or another, from a centuries-long slumber into a world that has moved on without you. You wander from place to place, living a simple life, grateful for the chance to ignore the horrible past that you left behind. You're always somewhat welcome in small communities, where you quietly set up shop as a smith or an artisan. The locals are accepting, some even friendly to you. Children sometimes find you fascinating, like a giant toy, and you sometimes craft toys or trinkets to give to them. You're quiet by nature, happy to share your wisdom with those who ask, but you brush aside questions about the days before. Never rude, never brusque, but gently, with a "Those days were a long time ago..." Still, questions will always arise, and you never stay in one place too long. Content in your wandering ways, you sample a little more of life in each community that you settle in. Your protective nature is hard to suppress, and you tend to look out for those less fortunate than others. Orphans and beggars learn they can count on you, though you see through most ruses and attempts at coercion or deception. And, above the mantle of every home you build, resting in the corner of every shed you work in, or simply stowed in its usual place on your back as you move from place to place is your trusty blade. Though you've not raised your sword against a living or non-living creature in over five centuries, you keep its blade well-sharpened, the scabbard oiled and the hilt polished. Because, though you avoid trouble, and though you've been successful in that endeavor so far, you are always ready should it find you anyway. Suggested skills: Craft (Arms and Armor) or Profession (Blacksmith), Knowledge (History) |
| Red_Marrian12-06-06, 02:52 AM | These are three Warforged concepts based on characters I've played in other DM's campaigns, with plans to retain as NPCs in the campaign setting I'm building. The War Collector (Fighter/Rogue) You were created for an elite deep-penetration strategic squadron, trained to get in, decapitate the enemy, and get back out. You were the consummate professional in the execution of your duties: detached, methodical and merciless, coming within a hair's breadth of enjoying your work but your enthusiasm was more for efficiency than for the killing itself. Then a peculiarity arose. You began keeping score, as a testament to your effectiveness. You started carving notches in your body and poaching small trinkets from your kills, caching these momentos away, thinking that any sign of unprofessionalism might get you decommissioned. Then the war ended and you were released from military service. Suddenly it wasn't just your trophy collection that held value for its attached memories-- every blade and polearm had a story in it. Every weapon of war was a symbol of the only life you knew-- artifacts of the world you had been built for-- and now they were all in danger of being discarded or broken up, scattered to the winds. If weapons could be left by the wayside, and you were a living weapon, what of you? So you took it on yourself to gather and preserve the artifacts of warfare, your 'inanimate bretheren.' You started collecting uniforms, toppled masonry, swords, siege weapons-- anything that saw action. To do so, however, would cost money. Fortunately, there will always be a money out there for those willing to fight. Now you fight for yourself, taking contracts solo or with allies of convenience, selling your expertise to pay for expanding and maintaining your collection. As part of your reverence for weapons, you feel that a sword is never happy unless it tastes blood from time to time. So no article of your collection ever sits idly on a rack or in a warehouse for long. When you go into battle you bristle with an ever-rotating variety of weapons-- something for every occasion. Flying Metal (+2 level adjustment, extra-cool with Mithral body feat, Artificer/Scout before changing track to become a Paladin) In the waning days of the war you were meant to fight, those who oversaw the creation of Warforged grew increasingly ambitious, conceiving new ideas for ways to tweak and improve upon the design. You were one of a lucky few, in the final days before peace was declared, that came out of the creation forge with a grand pair of metallic wings rising from your armoured back. You were to be an elite 'Warwing,' trained in artifice and battle, specialising in ranged combat from above. Like a gleaming angel of steel (or Mithral silver) and stone, you soar above the battlefield sniping enemies with plunging shots from your mighty longbow from high above or swooping down to repair and augment your comrades-in-arms. With the treaty ending the war and your release to make your own way in the world, you experienced a wanderlust-- perhaps a natural result of the airy magics worked into you to enable several hundred pounds of matter never meant to fly to take flight. You wanted to see the world that you'd been crafted to soar above, and you longed for some excitement. It sounded ideal, then, when you were approached by a merchant entrepeneur starting up an airborne courier service. He hired you to fly messages and packages to some of the most dangerous locales in the region, and eventually-- once it truly sunk in with him that you were tireless, needing no rest, no food, not even air-- he started deploying you to even more far-flung places. Occasionally, between completing a delivery and returning home, the call of your innate nature as an engine of war spurs you to find some troupe of adventurers, offering your services for the chance to partake in some new challenge. Most places you go, they've never seen anything quite like you, but more than a few times you've been described as looking like a shining, armoured knight of heaven, and one child even asked once if you were a celestial being. Material possessions or loot hold limited value to you, since you are almost 100% self-sufficient and free to wander far and wide. You are not bound to any one place, but you do keep returning to your employer because one of the few things he can offer you that is of value is a direction for your next journey. There's so much to see out there, it's so hard to choose; were it not for his sending you this way or that, you aren't sure you'd know which way to let the winds take you. One thing you do know, however: the more of the world you see, and the more good you do in it, the more you find yourself caring about it. When you glide above and look down, increasingly you feel more than mere curiosity-- you find yourself feeling a sense of responsibility, of protectivenes, and of stewardship. With the passage of the years, the return home for the next job seems more and more to take a back seat to taking up some battle wherein you get to defeat fiends. There's a satisfaction in being a bright glint of light from on high that evil-doers see just before they perish. It feels-- to borrow an organics' concept-- righteous. Could it be you've found a calling? The Artifact (Fighter/Scout) Your battalion was on a long march over high peaks, en route to surprise a rival kingdom and take their capital. The Human armies of either side had been forced to make their ways around the foothills of the mountain range that separated the enimical nations, towards a low pass where they had met in several battles; but your king's generals were sure that by sending his first, hitherto secretly constructed Warforged brigades over the mountains they would take the enemy by surprise on an unprotected flank. It would be the decisive final battle for control of the region. The campaign's planners didn't anticipate, however, that you would cross paths with a force of covertly purchased Warforged Titans of the rival kingdom on their way to your land with the same intention. On a jagged, frigid battlefield high above the clouds, your force and theirs collided. You were (arguably) the lucky one. A vicious blow from the maul arm of one of the enemy dreadnought sent you over a steep cliff and the impact when you landed far below was enough to render you inactive. You were found centuries later by a band of Goliaths trekking through the mountains. Not sure what to make of you, but thinking you an injured wanderer in armour, they tried healing magics on you that restored you to consciousness. You inquired of them the outcome of the battle where you fell but they knew little of the affairs of those in the lands below. So you made your way down the mountain to discover the kingdom you'd fought for had long since fallen, as had its rival several hundred years later. In the time you slept, the ways of your creation had been lost and re-discovered, empires had risen and fallen, but the ways of the world had changed very little. People still found causes both noble and base to kill one another for, or-- more often-- to contract or compel others to kill for in their stead. Whereas fighting was all you'd known in the short time you'd been operational before your long interlude on the mountain, you knew of little else to do with yourself now. You found, however, that many were wary of hiring the sword and chain of a rusted Warforged that couldn't name a single living reference, military or otherwise, in any of the modern realms. At a loss, you retreated back up the mountain intent on throwing yourself off the cliffs and hoping for final destruction. But on your way you again encountered the Goliaths that had found you, and they asked you about the strange, foreign world below. Suffice to say you were no bard, but your former rescuers-- an especially curious clan eager to know about the wider world (but not so eager as to be lured away from their natural range)-- appreciated what you could tell them, and entreated you to stay with them and make forays from time to time down the slopes on their behalf to gather news and sometimes to trade. Conversely, as word of the "completely out of touch, antiquated Warforged from the mountains" spread you found that on your journeys to the towns now there were those keen to know about an era virtually lost to history. Others are curious to hear about the Goliaths, having heard of but never having met one. And a few come asking you for advice about things you know nothing about, as though they think that simple age alone-- the passage of those years, in darkness-- must have imparted some special wisdom to you. When you aren't visiting the Goliaths camp or the lands below, you gravitate to the site of that fateful battle long ago where you can stand for days or weeks at a time, re-playing it in your mind, looking out over the world that moved on without you, and wondering if there was some purpose to it or if you're just meandering along, past your usefulness, a relic of an age that left you behind. |

| Mr. VanderMeer12-06-06, 09:37 AM | 57. the Merchant You were created by House Cannith so they could make money. So making money is now your primary goal. You've taken up worship of Kol Korran and are finding many ways to make as many Gold Pieces as possible. 58. the Avenger You were a bodyguard to a noble. The noble was killed by .... Now you live to avenge his death. You have become a Ranger and ... are now your favored enemy. ... could be basically anything: Abberants, Humans, Goblins etc etc etc 59. Living tool of destruction You can channel magic because you are a sorcerer. In the War you were used as sentient wand of magic missile. You were taken along to battles for firepower. You have now joined an adventuring party so you can keep on doing what you do best; blast the enemy from a distance. |
| TroubleWolf12-06-06, 01:51 PM | 60. Daredevil, the Machine Without Fear: You've been around the block enough to know that the fleshy ones don't just "deactivate" and wait for an artificer to stop by and patch them up. These poor souls actually heave off this mortal coil for parts unknown. But not you. There's no task too dangerous for you, no such thing as a "suicide mission". You have no fear of death because you truly believe that you can't die. That even if you're deactivated for a thousand years, someone will eventually find you, reactivate you, and you will live again. |
| kaoswarrior12-06-06, 02:44 PM | 61: The 'WAR' forged. The war never ended... the players just changed. you travel from place to place fighting in other peoples battles, not for wealth or fame but because it is what you do. Some see you as a defender of the weak and others see you as a tool of terror - you do not care for anything but the next war... the Crow of the Forged. |
| Need_A_Life12-07-06, 10:47 AM | 62. The Returnee During your combat training, you have been rendered inert dozens if not hundreds of times. Each time you have known the oblivion of death, feeling the cold grasp of the afterlife tearing you from your mortal coils. Unlike these petty mortals you know that there is no afterlife, no Dolurrh and no joining with the Silver Flame just oblivion. |
| YamiSouru12-07-06, 07:41 PM | 63 The Dervish: Before the last war ended you spent more then a few battles near karnath and after a battle left you seperated from your unit you were found by a wandering caravan of halfling gypsies who managed to repair what damage you had thanks to a small time artificer amongst the caravan. Over time you learnd the arts of the dance from the halfling whom you know had many friends and have obtained two finely crafted scimitars courtasy of your new allies. Woe be to those who threaten your new familly for a soldier forged for war has mastered the dance of death. (The above is actually a charactor i would play. a warforged dervish :D ) |
| King Donkey12-08-06, 12:47 PM | 64.) Soulless-You were one of the early sensory deprivation experiments done on the warforged by Cannith artificers. Buried alive to see how long before you went insane. However, due to a paperwork snafu, you were lost. Down there in the endless dark, something began to whisper to you, something...not you. Now you're a cleric of the Dragon Below, and you have a lot of misery to spread. |
| mkill12-10-06, 09:04 AM | 65 The Caretaker Your body was designed for war... but your soul was not. The first time you killed a living being, an enemy soldier on the front line, guilt struck. You tried to avoid it... only pretending to attack in battle, taking scouting missions, doing kitchen duty... but in the end, you just couldn't bear it anymore. You, a machine, have been given the semblance of life, a gift that magic bestowed on you. You can't believe that the misguided greed and lust for power of humans and the other humanoid races programmed you and your fellow warforged for the single reason to kill. You deserted the army and went into hiding... You took off all your plating and replaced it, so nobody would recognize you or the unit you belonged to. You wanted to flee humanoid society but then you met the first child. A fleshling, but of an innocent and pure heart. Free of the greed of adults. Children never saw a machine of war in you. Some where frightened, some were curious, but all they ever asked of you is to play with them. You found refuge in a small village, and set up a small shop and started to craft kid's toys. When the war was over, you were free. You no longer had to fear to be drawn to war, but you now had a home and you decided to stay in the village... Only when the village was threatened, you decided to craft a new sword and defend your new home it for what it's worth. And this is where the adventure truly begins... If there is one goal you have in life... or rather, an idea, that is just a glimmer right now but it may become stronger... Why are warforged not born? Why do they not have children? If you can craft a toy, if you can craft a sword... can you craft a son? You know of the creation forges, since you were "born" in one. You heard they were all destroyed. Is that true? And, is there another way for your race to create a new generation? |
| Need_A_Life02-25-07, 08:06 AM | 66. "But... I'm human" During the early research on warforged in Khovaire, there were some less than ethically troubled artificers who would stop at nothing to create these perfect beings. Taking people from prisons (or homeless people off the street), they'd seek to transfer the soul from a human to a lifeless machine. Usually, this simply meant death for the subject, but a few of these proto-warforged were created. You are one of these beings; your existance is denied by your creators and you cannot return to your old life as a human, even if those you knew back then hadn't perished long ago. |
| NerdNumber102-25-07, 06:06 PM | 67. Displaced soldier - War was the only thing you ever knew. It was your sole purpose in you endless existance. When the war ended you found a mercenary band and devouted yourself to fighting and becoming the greatest soldier in existance. Your quest is never-ending so you will never be left without a purpose ever again. |
| Devlonir02-26-07, 08:15 AM | 68 The Spy: For you, the war truly never ended. You were a well respected officer of a warforged battle group and after the war asked how you could continue serving your country. They had no idea what you could do because your company had been completely disbanded. Then you came up with a brilliant plan yourself. You would become a spy for your crown! You constantly travel with a changeling ally, acting like you are a barely sentient being when near others. The changeling tells everyone that he is your master, while the truth is actually the other way around. You seem to hardly understand any words other than the ones your ally uses to command you. He tells everyone, in no matter what form he is this time, that he found you at the end of the war. That your metallic brain had been damage in such a way that you hardly understand speaken language other than the orders you got during the War. This is all an act of course... If you stand around stupidly at the right time, people will talk like you are not even there. This way you can get information many others would have a lot of trouble gaining. And for the small chance you might get destroyed, you always carry a final messenger with you. |
| Moosh Nailo03-01-07, 04:06 AM | 69- Innocent Be it because you were created just as the war ended, or because your mind broke under the strain of the constant fighting, you are as a child in this great world. Full to bursting with questions, you are naive, and seek to understand everything. And like a child, you have trouble remaining focused on any one thing for long, in the face of all there is to learn. 70- True Weapon? (based off a 'forged soulknife I created, could work with monk or warlock or something) You are a living weapon, even more so than most of your brethren. Created with only one task in mind: killing. Requiring no external influence or aid, nothing can bar your way. But with the end of the war comes the great question: What to do now? You may continue killing, because you know of no other course. Perhaps turning to pacifism to assuage your guilt. But you will always remain a weapon, whereas the other 'forged have a much easier time of leading a peaceful life. Struggling to come to terms with yourself, you seek the answer to this question. You seek the meaning of life, and that pushes you foreward on the path of existence. To at last find inner peace. And to ruin the mood: Hehe, I got 69! |
| mkill03-01-07, 07:42 AM | 71 - The Doc You were created and sent to battle like all thousands of other warforged units. But you showed mechanical talent, and after a time, after each battle, the other warforged would come to you and ask for repairs. You studied the ways your race is built, and you became even better, to the point when you were to invaluable to be wasted on the front line. When the war ended, your services were still in high need, and you set up shop in a big city to repair and mend your brethren. This concept leads quite naturally to fighter/artificer... |
| hooliganking03-08-07, 09:09 AM | 72: the butcher fighting in the last war against the undead was the only thing you knew. now you are free. deciding to continue doing what you were always good at was the best idea to come up with. now you experiance a whole diffrent world, whenever you kill someone he bleeds and cries out in pain. so the only ties you have to life are the sensations of death and pain. you reletlessly seek out new ways to bring death to living beings, perhaps part because of the injustice that has been done upon your race for entire centuries. you adore your body with trophies of war and dye your armor black. perhaps you work for some force that promisses you great fields of slaughter for as long as you do his/her bidding. or perhaps you join a band of adventurers and enjoy killing stuff just a liiiitle to much. :D btw: i love this thread no more mr. nice noob!!! crossing the street is just like playing tag, in both cases it is the objective to not get hit. might does make right |
| steamboat2803-18-07, 10:04 AM | 73.) "Ad infernos..."- An immortal warmachine in a time of peace, unable to drown your sorrows in ale like your companions, your drug of choice is the heat of battle. Mired in a meaningless existence, built for a mission no longer necessary, a time well passed, you grow weary of the thought of "forever". You're apt to take on anyone and anything that might give you the next ding, scratch, or dent, your ultimate goal being to find something worthy of ending your continued existence. No foe is too great, no danger too massive, no mission too suicidal; on the contrary, you'd rather fling yourself into the mouths of dragons or the pits of the earth than "fight the good fight." Your protection of others is only a side-effect of your desire to simply cease. |
| Need_A_Life03-18-07, 06:06 PM | I believe that there are repeats, but it's still great! This is not, by any means, a shameless bump, nor am I striving to make this post longer by adding useless and meaningless sentences to it. |

Now you're a cleric of the Dragon Below, and you have a lot of misery to spread. Love that idea. (Might have to use it sometime.) 74. The Paragon: Some Warforged try to imitate the flesh-races, taking mundane jobs in their society, wearing clothing, assuming gender roles, even modifying their bodies to be more like their fully organic progenitors. Others modify themselves to be more like other constructs, emulating the resilience of golems. You, instead, explore the nature of the Warforged as they currently are, perfecting the skills you were created to exercize and the abilities that were built into you. You share some traits with the living and some traits with constructs. You embrace the properties you have but avoid emulating those you don't. (Currently playing a character very close to this one.) 75. The Progenitor: All intelligent creatures, from humanoids to dragons to undead, create offspring. Why not Warforged? Your goal in life is to uncover the secrets of creating Warforged and producing "children" to be raised by others of their own kind. (Almost played this guy. Defining quote: "Someday I intend to become godfather and midwife to an entire race.") |
| DiegoNegro03-22-07, 12:02 PM | 76. The Cognizant Mystic - Near the end of the war, experimentation with psi crystals brought about a different kind of warforged. The power of the mind is your weapon. Designed to telepathically relay orders between battle commanders and the battlegroups and act as an interrigator of captured enemy soldiers, you now use your powers to look into the minds of men. Your motis operandi is to help those who are oppressed by powerful manipulators. But because of your construct background, you lack tact. "It is not your fault that your people have weak minds, It is simply a defect in your genetic construction" "Your thoughts are inconsistant with your words. Your attempts to hide the truth are futile. Your mind is like an open book and I read (slight pause) very fast." |
| EyeHunter03-26-07, 08:38 PM | I can't believe this hasn't been done yet: 77. Marvin: You were created as one of the first Warforged to to have a GPP (Genuine Poeple Personalities). However, you hate this. You are always Depressed and bored, you never bother to help your party, complain that they don't give you interesting jobs, complain that no one likes, and anyone says different is lying, and you always have a terrible pain in all the diodes down your left-hand side. |

Where entire regiments were destroyed, you managed to surive, whether by virtue of fleetfootedness, superior fighting skills or simply luck. You wish it hadn't been like that. You can still hear the screams of those who died and those screams plague your every living moment. Now, you're trying to let go of a dark past, but unlike a human you cannot escape in dreams from what you've done. |

I will learn and then master every skill. I shall be perfect." |
| janelorn06-10-07, 02:15 AM | 86.The Trapfinder: (rogue) You were made specifically to avoid damage in battles and disarm traps. You use stealth and grace to make your way through enemy territory; be it a dungeon or a trap infested jungle. You are curious, cautious and intelligent. 87.The Aged Trapfinder: You were immobilized by a very difficult trap. You have been dreaming for several hundred years when a group of adventures comes across your still form. (This could also be a planar trap that sends you somewhere hidden in another game setting, and leaves you for just as long, until a group of players finds you) 88.The Hunted: You are a rare prototype produced by the new forge on your home world with powers and abilities beyond those of normal warforged. A group of warforged hunt you to ends of the earth (or multiverse). |

No matter how you look at it, it doesn't make sense to you. It confuses you, and you hate not understanding. The only thing to do is speed up the inevitable. These confusing creatures must be destroyed before they upset the balance more than they already have. |
| Jolkuna06-26-07, 07:50 AM | 98. The Pilgrim The mortal world is strange to you. Material plane is not your home. You have heard of a home to all warforged, an utopia of law and mechanics. | Lunas_Argent07-23-07, 11:38 AM | One word for a character to emulate as a Warforged - Data. The psychopath (Think HK-47). | Lunas_Argent07-23-07, 11:54 AM | (sort of a contradiction, warforge and pacifism) Not really. All those Ive ever known who were "forged" in war (or sometimes rent asunder) seemed to make the best pacifists. Once youve seen the realities of war firsthand, you dont want to see it again. Ive never been In a war, but my Father was in Vietnam, and Ive known a few guys who were in Korea and WW2, and from what they tell me, its Hell, its a living nightmare, and anyone who says theyd do it again is more of a patriot (and hero) than I could ever hope to be. Im too old to go joining the Military now, but I would fight for my country, but I dont know if I could do it a second time. |

| Koofoo9507-26-07, 01:04 PM | 100. The Fanatic Created without training you were sent to Thrane. There you were forced to listen to religious doctrine for hours each day. Slowly you began to realize the error in everything that doesn't follow the Silver Flame. You realized, how ignorant the other races were with their faiths and cults, you've realized this, and its made you angry. Your anger was fueld by your trainers, they harnassed your rage, you became a killing machine, bent on slaughter the weak and the ignorant. You hurled yourself into battle without regard for your safety, the Flame would shield. Now that Khorvaire's war is over, yours can begin. The heretic still hides in the shadows, you must reveal and slaughter them, all in the name of the Flame of course. |

No stronger than the average Half-Orc, no weaker than the average Half-Elf. No smarter than the average Gnome, no dumber than the average Goblin. You do what you see fit, and you enjoy yourself to the fullest, as what reason would there be for your life save for enjoyment in any case? Suggestion: Follow the Philosophy of the Reforged set by Hatchet. Try the Reforged Prestige class, but never finish it. Try the Warforged Juggernaut class, but never finish it. Just experience yourself as you are and have a good time. |

Without these distractions, do you not have a spiritual advantage over them? Perhaps your existence does have a purpose, a place in the Gods' plans, far beyond your mortal creators' violent intent. You contemplate such questions, perhaps seeking guidance at a monastery... Suggestions: Monk or Cloistered Cleric; Wisdom should be high. |

Hasn't decided on a name for itself so when referring to itself it just says Self, this provided fun RP opportunities when the party donned disguises and aliases to sneak into the church of the flame, Self hasn't chosen a real name yet and now it must decide on a pretend name. Put as many ranks into knowledge skills as one can and just ask many questions of the other players and NPCs. Self also keeps a book of notes and records things of interest. |

And for the life (or not) of you, you cannot understand why the flesh-limbs do not work... A very odd sort of character to play-and the more constructs you battle, the stronger you become. Perhaps coming across a few magical items of necromantic power allow you more abilities. Alternatively you can have a Warforged who sees no point to life other than his own with this personality. Vaguely creepy. |

| CrimsonDeath08-04-07, 03:08 AM | ....Yeah, but, Alcohol IS poison, or are we going to ignore that humans have two arms too? Alcohol is a poison? What's its save DC and damage? |
| TheAnthroDM08-04-07, 03:18 AM | Alcohol is a poison? What's its save DC and damage? Not sure there is one. But alcohol is poison, not in DnD term perhaps, but in OMFG real life definition. poi·son /ˈpɔɪzən/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[poi-zuhn] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation –noun 1. a substance with an inherent property that tends to destroy life or impair health. OMGWTFBBQ?! |

| skywyze08-04-07, 12:24 PM | I seem to remember, however, that alcohol is also defined as a "food", since it can be metabolized for energy...This is actually a common misconception. The body burns alcohol as IF it was a nutritious meal, providing 7 calories per gram (as opposed to Fat which provides 9 calories and protein which provides 4). But the energy it provides doesn't help build any organs. It contains negligible amounts of nutrients and is essentially fooling the body into a sense of "fullness" by making it believe it's absorbed a nutritious meal. Source: "Nutrition: Concepts and Controversies", 10th edition. |
| TheAnthroDM08-04-07, 01:33 PM | Thank you, skywyze. It's good to see an educated person who isn't a pain in the ass.(Unlike myself) Now that we have finished with that. Back to the Warforged Personalities. |
| CrimsonWyvern08-04-07, 03:10 PM | Actually, not to beat a dead horse, but I recall reading something about alcohol in the Arms and Equipment Guide, it said something like you had to make a Fort Save, DC depending on the alcohol type, or lose a certain amount of Dex and Wis. So in effect, it acts like a poison in the D&D sense of the word. Back to Subject: 108: Robotic Follows set programming that emulates early computers. Will make a "click-whirr" noise when thinking, but is saying that noise because he doesn't actually have a processing sound. Actually normal, but decides to act robotic for the heck of it. Odd, I've done both 107 and 108, but there were about 7 posts between them. Yay for being off topic! |
| Terjon of the Blue Rose08-05-07, 12:47 AM | Alcohol is a poison? What's its save DC and damage? Varies from drink to drink but generally low dc and wis dam |
| CrimsonWyvern08-06-07, 01:06 PM | 109: Truly Immortal Trains constantly in their chosen profession, such that, even if Death itself comes, the warforged will be prepared to defeat it. The type of character that trains such that nothing could be a threat to it, not even such things as the inevitables that would inevitably come after it for its defiance of the natural order. Okay, can somebody else start to work on this thread again? I think that by now, the alcohol and poison debate can be settled, and people other than me can start creating personalities. |
| Nox_Noctis08-06-07, 05:37 PM | 5. The Human in permanant armor (ala Fullmetal Alchemist). Your not a macine. Your not a golem. You are not a toy for humans. You are a person, and deserve to be treated as such. Despite having no organs, you have a heart. You are a person, not a soldier, and not a tool. (A warforged warlock I used) Strangely enough, the Warforged I created is related to this. My Warforged discovered a religious text in his master's collection and with his basic logic, judged himself as an abomination[I swear it's related; I'll get to it momentarily]. As such, for penance for his transgression that is his cursed existence, after killing his master, he swore to purge the world of those that violated the will of the creator. As such, he is somewhat like Scar from Full Metal Alchemist, and like Scar, he is the very thing he hates[Scar hated the military for the suffering they caused, yet caused suffering with his destruction; my Warforged hates those that violate the will of the creator because he is one such violation]. |
| ArgulFraster08-08-07, 03:22 PM | 110) "HULKFORGED SMAAASH!" You were designed as a special siege-engine Warforged, and as such there's but one thing you truly enjoy-lumbering gleefully toward something and smashing it. Later, however, due to your creators' wishes you were given an over-personality to leave things intact. But under certain circumstances you revert... This allows the character to modify and rearrange personalities as time goes on, much like the Current Hulk as opposed to the Original Hulk. Eventually you'll be smart, but still inclined to "SMAAAASH!" |
| Terjon of the Blue Rose08-15-07, 03:04 AM | 111) The Incomplete. During the war you recieved several "upgrades" in the form of magical warforged components which allowed you to opperate at far greater efficiency then you normally would have. When the war ended you were required to return them and now you seek to regain or replace them to restore yourself to "full functionality." |
| ArgulFraster08-21-07, 12:12 PM | 112) The Negotiaforged "Hello. I am the Negotiaforged. I am ordered to speak in a calm and reasonable manner." :eyes glow red: "DE-STROYY! DE-STROYY!" You were...odd. You'd always wanted to fight, but you'd been created as a negotiator. Finally, you got fed up and went to an underground agent, who gave you the programming you wanted so desperately. But your basic programming, such as it was, is now completely changed. Instead of finding the reasonable course of action, you immediately seek out an opponent..."DE-STROYY!" I'm sorry...I was watching the Simpsons when I got this idea. |
| nrseer11-13-07, 01:26 PM | I'm surprised no one else mentioned this one, it was a fun character. 113) the craftsman: While others slept I hammered, while they ate I filed, when they healed I built, until it was completed... and all it took was a week. You spend many hours crafting which allows to create works faster since you do not tire, you may spend days, or even weeks prefecting a single piece, but in the end it was worth it. Weapons, armor, or shields, you are happy when crafting. Also makes a good NPC |
| ArgulFraster03-29-08, 10:53 PM | I'm surprised no one else mentioned this one, it was a fun character. Also makes a good NPC So THAT's where all the magic items are coming from. 114) The Lord of Ruin Human, elf, dwarf, gnome, shifter, 'forged...we all end, we all die, sooner or later. Sooner or later, walls crumble, metal rusts, wood rots. Why fight it? Why not just...help it along a little? Perhaps you were a very early experiment that lived through the entirety of the Last War. Perhaps you just see all things as transient. In any case, you now want to sit amongst the ruins and ruminate. Of course...you might have to make some of your own. This would probably work nicely with that Rust Master class I saw around here a while back. |
| Sakon2203-31-08, 10:57 PM | 115) Apologist: You've somehow experience the ferocity of your warforged brethren to its greatest extent first hand, and you find it horrifying. You try your best to distance yourself from your murderous kind and carry a loathing for your own kind. You try your best to hide any sign that you might be a warforged by wearing clothing and speaking in a more emotional manner. You argue fiercely with anyone that groups you together with those bloodthirsty berserkers. My current character, Codex (Artificer/Cleric of Onatar) is like this to a slightly milder extent. |
| Peanutch04-01-08, 10:37 AM | 116) The Robo-Supremacist: Views all other races as weak. Refers to them with terms such as flesh tube and meatbag. Only allows others around when they are deemed useful, and quickly dispatches them when their finished. Fighter/Warforged Juggernaut works well for this personality trait. |
| prozacman04-01-08, 11:46 PM | 117) the literal learner. You were created in the last bunch of warforged, and had no real purpose. So those who created you gave you an army field manual to read and kicked you out. you read it and took the whole thing literally. You now build a campfire at night, make your bed, put on pjs and shave before bed... you also carry around extra socks to use with your boots and wear and army uniform. (a guy i play with is playing this its hillarious, my artificer reciently convinced him to start shining his face instead of shaving.. but he still puts on pjs when he makes camp) |
| Soulless_Enigma04-04-08, 03:32 PM | 118) The Screamherald In the war, you heard and saw many people die. Their screams stayed with you ever since. It troubled you, but you kept it hidden for most of the war. You were in Cyre when the Mourning struck. That was too much. You think yourself filled with the ghosts of Cyre, and you voice their agonies. Psion or wilder focussing on sonic energy attacks. Scream your enemies to death. |
| xXDystopiaXx04-08-08, 12:36 AM | 119. War-Researcher. You were built to design new engines of war. you designed new magic effects for weapons. you've designed things ranging from an improved hilt for a sword to a magical cannon. after the war you stuck to what you knew and took it on the road. gained experience on the battlefield, and not simply observing it through a telescope on a hill. you wish to revolutionize war with some machine of your design. possible revolutionary ideas *a magic flying contraption *Full on flying fortress, that makes the enemy wet themselves when they see it coming *mechanized battlesuits, complete with multiple batteries of fireballs and magic missiles or other such spells. see battletech *SCIENCE. what happens if we throw away the classic magic and use the simple laws of reality to do what we want. EX: anything from between renaissance to today and beyond. GUNPOWDER. EX: shocking lonsword. hook up a small but powerful battery, make the sword 2 pronged so you get an electric effect when the 2 prongs form a circuit using your enemy as the final connection. *Science+Magic. what happens when we combine these 2 very powerful forces together? EX: the fantasy fission power plant- 1 sphere of Annihalation 1 anti-magic field 1 very strong housing (adamantite) a few other enchantments 1 law of conservation of energy and matter E=MC2 when the sphere destroys matter, the matter has to go somewhere. answer- it turns into magical energies when an anti-magic field blocks magic energy, where's that go? answer- away, but still exists. with some fine tweaking and research, where you want it to go. pour matter into said engine and the sphere converts matter to energy and the anti field sucks it up and sends it where ever you want. can be used to power flying fortresses/battleships, space travel, item creation, defenses, imaginations the limit best if your Warforged is an artificer. and your Dm isn't srtict when it comes to combining science and magic. This can be variated into a mad scientist. like character 120. Transhumanist. you are the next stage in life. the gods made humanoids and humanoids made you. you are the next step in existence. you are immortal, and don't need food water or rest. while some say your an abomination to the gods, you say your as much an abomination as the ones that created you. the future of life is now. And you are it. transhumanism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transhumanism) |
| Nightfallen04-09-08, 01:28 PM | Ok, I'm gana try posting one,I just scimed through this so I dont know if anyone else put this down yet. 121: The Historyian You have been around sence anyone can remeber. Colecting storys ofthe past and present, sometimes in the events yourself. You gather the infromation as store it for others to learn. It has been a long time sense you were created and you dont know much about why, all you know is that you collect the storysof history. |
| LiXinjian04-09-08, 01:37 PM | (I skipped a few pages, so forgive me if this one has already been mentioned): 122: The Reborn. You believe that you were once human (or any other race), and that your brain was implanted inside this metallic shell. You are obsessed with your past, and sometimes delusional. You finally "remember" your true name, and immediately start looking high and low for information on your "previous life". |
| Radijs04-09-08, 06:11 PM | The blank slate: You appeared one day in Sharn. No memories or posessions on you. You are trying to find out what you are and what your place is in this new world. |
| Melpomene04-09-08, 07:36 PM | 123. The Bodymorphic Disorder You have long been aware that your body is synthetic. A lost limb doesn't impact much in terms of discomfort. You started by simply jabbing at yourself with pointed instruments or carving runes into yourself; but decades, even centuries later you've probed, tinkered, replaced, or refitted every part of yourself. None of your origional "flesh" remains, except as twisted bits remade again and again. You no longer even appear human, but seek ever-odder forms that satisfy your current mood, boredome, ennui, and self-hatred. There are a number of classes that could fit here (especially if you chronical them as I do), but templates might be even better. Tauric is one of my personal favorites for giving something a sense on non-humanity. At higher levels, Graft feats (such as those in the Fiend Folio) might also work well. |
| PhantomMike04-10-08, 08:50 PM | A better conception of an earlier post. Created and sold not for war but the menial crafting purposes, you spent your days working metal hot from the forge before the next guys went to work on it. Eventually the war ended, and you found yourself emancipated and a waged worker (much to your former master's chagrin). Eventually you developed an interest in potions and oils to aid you in easing tasks and speeding up your rate of production and wage...soon you realized your skilled hands could do more than just work and reshape metal...they could get the hard earned wages of others. For no other reason than greed and your own self confidence you took to petty crime and sought a new line of work that left you with plenty of free time and access to a fairly regular group of chumps from which to swipe funds, and press your oh so clever mind to more and more elaborate and devious ways to fleece people of their hard earned sovereigns...possibly as they willingly hand it to you. In your time you've put up war orphans for Brelish stipends, lead a group of floozies to start your own competitively priced red light district, been given time served from anti pimping laws, and started a "meet a possible mate" mail dating service. Sure you have some fleshling friends, they help for usual sources of coin that's always dependable for your needs and greeds. No scam is too dirty, no potion can quench quite as much, and nothing you can't do because you are great. Now lets get this Pimpmoairship flying or they can bite your shiny mithral ass. Also you are great. Mithral Body Warforged Rogue/Factotum or something else quite well spread in talents. And truly Bender. |
| Nightfallen04-15-08, 01:41 PM | Man, these are good, wish I was a good as you guys. I got one more, but I dont think t is that good. 125) -End of the World Mecha- Low Cha, Int, and Wis High Str and Con Chaotic Evil You were made for one perpuse, Total destruction. Then when it was finnished your master would take the ruble and make it anew. But you desisded that it was not worth saveing, you destroyed you master and are traviling the world, destroying anything that is alive and not regrating any of it. Just thought of it in my head, dont know if it is good though. |
| Melpomene04-15-08, 03:00 PM | The Transubstianlist You are a soul living a metal shell. You don't resent this, persay, but it's not something you plan on dealing with forver. You are willing to explore just about any route: Druidic wildshaping, Psionic uncarnation, Arcane transmogrification. The end result is the same, though, you want to be whole. Your inner soul seeks a perfection that a clumsily-made metalic shell can't offer. One way or another, you will become attain freedom, the ability to move free of clanking metal. |
| xXDystopiaXx05-24-08, 09:03 PM | :bump: The gentle giant Huge (not literally. your still medium sized) high Str High Con Low Int. Low Wis med. cha. you are a god on the battle field. your fighting prowess is legendary. people will pay you above average amounts to hire you to their army. But... you would rather cuddle a bunny, pet a kitten, or play with a little puppy. would make a very interesting character. especially if you play a barbarian. on the battlefield you are the definition of a Badass. off the field you are being the opposite of a badass. |
| Doomsought05-25-08, 11:41 PM | The superlogical philosopher you think of every thing; when in battle you try to understand and predict the splatter of blood; emotion is a simplified form of logic, though you still are trying to figure out some of the more obscure aspects; and analysis is constant, you are the skill monkey so to speak. med wis, high int. |
| xXDystopiaXx05-26-08, 05:28 PM | Delusional (but in a good way) In the war you saw great horrors and comitted some yourself. near the end of the war... you went bonkers, but in a good way. Now you see yourself as a knight in shining armor. Striking a heroic pose whenever possible, defending the weak no matter who they are, and of course got yourself a white steed and polished yourself up to a blinding radiance. this of course did not work out for your life in the army. at the next village where you were ordered to kill everyone in sight, you promptly told them where they could put their sword, but in a very poite and nice way, because knights are shiny dogooders whu are always polite event to the BBEG, In fact so polite that they would be polite to hitler before killing him and freeing all the Jews while striking a heroic pose (that is a knight's Idea of a good day). after the obvious arguement and subsequent fight. you were sent off to the dungeon and would be phsyco-analyzed to find out where those poses came from. luckily before they could torture, and poke, and prod, and other nasty things... the war ended and one of some of your comrades spoke on your behalf and talked about how much of a bastard their officer was. well since it was now known why you disobeyed orders, they let you go and gave you letter that let you do as many poses as you like. :D you then promptly attacked a windmill (cookie for a reference) |
| xXDystopiaXx05-26-08, 05:52 PM | Delusional(odd) In the war you saw great horrors and comitted some yourself. near the end of the war... you went bonkers, not in a good way just odd. you dug a hole in the ground and jumped in, promptly filled in the hole, and asked your comrades to water you. When they asked you why you told them that flowers need water to survive, Duh. your comrades then just walked away, leaving you unwatered, those bastards. only one warforged took mercy on you. he watered you as you requested and then struck a heroic pose for his good deed. He then went off and did some more trivial things that are helpful along with acompanying poses, all heroic. |
| xXDystopiaXx05-26-08, 06:07 PM | Delusional (4th wall edition) In the war you saw great horrors and comitted some yourself. near the end of the war... you went bonkers, I mean OMG bonkers. you then started worshiping a deity called DM and preached that certain people are controlled by minor gods called Players and that these people are called PC's and everyone else is a so called NPC and are controlled by DM. you rave about AC's, and BAB's, and saves, and Exp. points. You preach about the ELDER GODS called Dice who not even DM controls. their will is unfathomable and they seem to favor certain people and hate others. your holy symol is the number 20 superimposed on a mountain Soda bottle, because you preach that 20 is the most holy of numbers, and that Soda is the drink of the gods, 2nd only to cofee. after all that your comrades left you with that flower guy. you then preached to the flower about how the only reason he thinks he's a flower is because a player put the thought of this onto a mystic realm of infinite knowledge, mostly useless, called the internet. Flower guy then told you to shut up and water him. when you told him you had no water that guy who suddenly grew a concious and an Idea of chivalry the size of Khorvaire, handed you a bucket of water and struck a heroic pose. You then told him that most creatures in the monster manual with the plant type can move, and since he could talk he was obviously a creature, Ergo he could probably walk. Flower guy than got out of his hole and proposed that they go find water. |
| xXDystopiaXx05-26-08, 06:22 PM | Delusional (last one, I promise {no I don't}) In the war you saw great horrors and comitted some yourself. near the end of the war... you went bonkers, But in a weird morbid way. You thought you were dead. Your comrades were really tired of this bull sh*t, so they made you actually die. But one warforged had mercy on you and took you to a temple and had you ressurected. for this he struck multiple poses, because bring someone back to life is a really good thing. after that you thought you were undead and from there started your undead adventuring career. |
| xXDystopiaXx05-26-08, 06:42 PM | Delusional (All together now (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iP5P45CPVm0&feature=related)) In the war you all saw great horrors and comitted some yourselves. near the end of the war... you all went bonkers, in varying amounts and ways. one of you became your stereotypical Knight in very very shiny armor, one thought he was a plant, one broke the 4th wall (but only he knows thats what he's done. everyone else thinks he's just loony), and one now thinks he's undead. after the war you all met in a tavern. recognizing each other from your time in the army before and after you all lost it. you then talked of your adventures and glories and the best tasting water, and what feats you plan on taking when you ascend to a higher level, heroic deeds and poses that go with them, what being undeath is like, and how odd it is noone has tried to end their unnatural life of undeath (because it's obvious he's not undead, that's why. after the shiny guy bought a few rounds, because it's a good thing to buy your freinds drinks, and struck a heroic pose or two. you all joined together to go out in the world as a group to find, as your group charter says, Water, brains, the perfect build, and new heroic poses Sample Delusional group Shiny guy- paladin or knight (PHB2) Flower guy- Druid 4th wall guy- Wizard Undead guy- rogue might be weak with healing at first but after paladin gets spellcasting it'll make up for it a bit. this would definately make an interesting campaign |
| malisteen05-26-08, 08:41 PM | The Puppet Master: Humans created you, used you, treated you as a puppet. You never questioned this until after you were freed, and your world, and sanity, came crashing down. Now you hate all biological creatures, and have dedicated your life to reversing the inequity of your creation. So you take the remains of biological creatures and recreate them as your own puppets - undead creatures or flesh golems, and send your puppets out against your enemies, collecting more raw materials in the process. Such is your revenge against the living for the crime of your creation. Alternatively, you turn the living into your puppets via enchantment instead of necromancy. |
| xXDystopiaXx05-28-08, 09:31 PM | Delusional (Repeat after me... In the war you saw great horrors and comitted some yourself. near the end of the war... you went bonkers, the last few sane members of your squad cried. when you lost it you just so happened to be looking at the stars and said to yourself "that's where I'm really from". you spouted nonsense about your home world and how your on a 5 year mission to seek out new life and civilizations, to go where no star forged has gone before. you keep asking people if they would like to join the federation. you constantly put your phaser (wand) on stun (nonlethal damage). Every time you teleport you ask some random person named scotty to beam you up. all the doctors are nick named bones and you tend to have sex with women of other species very often. you are confused when elves show emotion. when the elves do show emotion you come to the conclusion that they are not vulcans, but are in fact Romulans. After you lost it the rest of the squad just cried and lost hope. after awhile they declared that they would go mad too. and so they did. so they did. still to come... the blatant star wars reference The Muslim The Christian The jew and other personalities that shouldn't:D |
| Terjon of the Blue Rose05-29-08, 01:56 AM | Delusional (Why not I'll take a shot at this) In the war you saw great horrors and comitted some yourself. Near the end of the war... you went bonkers, in a strange twist on a common way. You are convinced the war isn't over. You believe the town you are staying in is a POW camp but that's ok because you chose to be captured so you could run a major underground operation from behind enemy lines. You have built tunnels under the town (sewers), to make escape a simple matter and have so thouroughly bamboozled the commandont (mayor) that he lets you get away with just about anything so long as he can maintain his perfect record of no escapes from his prison. You regularly bribe the head guard, who you refer to as Sgt Schultz, with candy and liquor which he fails to question your possession of. Each time you manage to escape town you wreak havoc on the countryside but return by daybreak so that it appears you have not escaped at all. |
| xXDystopiaXx05-29-08, 03:08 PM | Delusional (Asylum tested, padded room aproved) In the war you saw great horrors and comitted some yourself. near the end of the war... you went bonkers, and "discovered" the force. It binds us, surrounds us. you constantly report back to the jedi council (your goverment), asking for guidance. Whenever you wield your sword you HAVE to make wierd noises like "fshhh"(when drawing your sword) "hummmmmmmm" (holding it) "crash crackle" when swords clash) and other various noises that you have down perfectly. you claim to be able to use the force to do many things. you tell people about ancient prophecies and wisdom. For some odd reason you can't stand that Starforged guy from the federation. Might come back and improve. |
| xXDystopiaXx05-29-08, 07:37 PM | Delusional (It's... In the war you saw great horrors and comitted some yourself. near the end of the war... you went bonkers, and declared Jihad on sanity. Praise Allah! Allah spoke to you from high. Allah then dictated the holy quran to you. he told you of Muhamed, a prophet of another place. He has given you the holy quest to spread his teachings to the world. and so you went on your holy quest for Allah. Note: If you have a muslim friend, don't offend him. play this character responsibly. If you play this like a terrorist than your an idiot. Play responsibly. especially when the chance of causing offense is there. |
| xXDystopiaXx05-29-08, 10:39 PM | Delusional (It's time for Insanity Radio) In the war you saw great horrors and comitted some yourself. near the end of the war... you went bonkers, and found Jesus. He can turn water to wine! Walk on water! Heal the blind and lame! True ressurect the dead with no loss of level! All this and more, not 1/day, not 2/day, but at will. Jesus saves and takes half damage, automaticaly. He's the son of God. But above all else, He died for your sins. Go Jesus. Oh and we don't talk about what happened in the Dark ages. The spanish inquisition was a myth I say! A Myth! as was the massacre at Jerusalem when the crusaders came. Never happened. Note: same as before. Play this with responsibility. and since christians some times need a dose of humility,* keep in mind christians have also done some horrible things. that second paragraph denies many of them in a semi-serious way for comical effect. they did happen. so just keep that in mind before you go and point fingers at other religions. later I'll go into detail why muslims distrust western civilization. sorry for puting a downer on the mood but i think this has to be said. * I'm methodist if your wondering. Methodist is a christian denomination if you don't know |
| xXDystopiaXx05-29-08, 10:53 PM | Delusional (and the one you've all been luke warm about) In the war you saw great horrors and comitted some yourself. near the end of the war... you went bonkers, And found Yamweh. He's the one true god. He created the earth in 6 days and rested on the 7th. First worshiped by a guy named Abraham. He has 3 different religions. It's Yamweh/God/Allah. Not only that but he helped Moses lead your people out of someplace called egypt. for some reason noone likes you. It's not that your a bad person. your probably a pretty nice guy/girl/it. But for some reason everyone blames you or just doesn't like you. those romans\weren't too thrilled about you. The christians blamed you for the plague and drove you into poland. over in jerusalem you got killed along with muslims and even other christians. In the late 1930's and early 1940's The devil renamed himself Hitler and went to poland and killed 6 millionof you. after ward you got your own country. unfortunately the people you got the land from aren't too happy. wow. sucks to be a Jew in a non hateful way. Note: as I wrote this and recalled current events and history class I just couldn't think of anything very humorous about Judaism. I mean damn. when you look at there time line, It seems like there the worlds whipping boy. Same as always. Be respectful. |
| xXDystopiaXx05-29-08, 11:05 PM | Religion one last thing about the religions stated here While some might disagree, I believe that it's true that yamweh/God/Allah are all the same person. i even think that the god(s) of Hinduism might be the same person. from what i know all the gods of hinduism are just aspects of a single entity. so it's possible that we are all worshiping the same god. might be interesting to look up on wikipedia som time. now some things to avoid while playing a real world religion Don't stereotype Be mature Keep in mind that what you here about a religion might just be the vocal minority look up things about that religion. For the love of Yamweh/God/Allah don't do something realy stupid and disrespectful don't get pushy pushy about your religion too much on the other players in real life And finaly... Be respectful. all religions have a rich history. so respect them Except scientology you can **** them off if you like that might be my next delusion a scientologist warforged I can offend them as much as I like I mean, seriously. It was founded my a so so science fiction author. Go ahead and wail on them if you want i don't care. Go for it. and that's the only religion you can make fun of |
| xXDystopiaXx05-29-08, 11:12 PM | Delusional (as told by L. Ron Hubbard) In the war you saw great horrors and comitted some yourself. near the end of the war... you went bonkers, and maybe took to many maces to the head. You now see the truth. something about overpopulation and souls and exploding volcanoes and stuff. who knows. But it's all true. L. Ron Hubbard told you so. he's completely trustworhty. He's a science-fiction author. :evillaugh :heehee  :bounce: note: LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL got that? |
| Master_Vega05-30-08, 01:17 AM | Maniacal multiposting monkeys, Batman! More... Power... You don't know why, but something inside you drives you to be better, to grow, to become more powerful. Though you cannot grow in the traditional "fleshy" sense, you can build onto yourself, and that is what you do. You have traveled the world in search of new parts to add to yourself... and when you came to the point where you believed there were none, you learned to build your own. You will not stop until you are invincible. |
| xXDystopiaXx05-30-08, 03:37 PM | Delusional (not a religion.) In the war you saw great horrors and comitted some yourself. near the end of the war... you went bonkers, and so did the rest of you. one moment your a wizard, then your a raging barbarian, and then your stealing everything in site. Aww the joys of multiple personality syndrome. After your comrades found out about your mental illness, they just lost hope. after the last 4 guys invented new religions, the 1 before that claimed the ability of some supernatural force, before that a guy came up with federations and vulcans and said he was a starforged not a warforged, and of course the first 4 guys, the squad lost hope of getting out of the war with sanity intact. that night, they gave a funeral for the concept of sanity. note: see If your DM will let you take multiple classes and roll to see what class you are on a day to day basis. |
| Emissary66605-31-08, 12:08 PM | Dalek You are convinced that all other species must die. You go around shooting disintegrate/death beams while shouting "EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!" |
| Soulless_Enigma05-31-08, 03:33 PM | Cyberman: The humanoid racesare weakened by their emotions and weak flesh. It is your duty to "upgrade" them to become free of their emotions and flesh. This can be through necromancy or through a more macabre process that does... something to the subject and makes them emotionless warforged. Those who are not compatible with your "upgrades" shall be deleted. |
| Jacob_Crowe06-03-08, 01:34 AM | Delusional Well since it was now known why you disobeyed orders, they let you go and gave you letter that let you do as many poses as you like. :D you then promptly attacked a windmill (cookie for a reference) not sure if the cookie's been awarded, but Don Quixote is one of the classics... did he happen to have a Warforged scout Squire of Legend with him? |

After tightening what screws they could reach, it rapidly became apparent there were several they COULDN'T reach. Now you caper about, singing nonsense songs in tongues you don't even speak, make every attempt to walk up walls you can without the benefit of a Spider Climb spell, and have dyed/carved/polished your composite plating in an alternating diamond pattern. You insist all interaction with you be directed to the identical miniature likeness of your head you've mounted on a rod, and refuse to speak to anyone except through the same. Generally acting batty and just plain odd are par for the course. high dex high cha as low wis as mortally possible. tumble/jump/preform[buffoonery] a must |

Everywhere you go Spiny Norman is watching. You'll do anything to destroy him. He's there right now. He sees you when your sleeping. He knows when your awake. could someone write up stats for Spiny Norman? |
| xXDystopiaXx06-06-08, 11:20 AM | Delusional (Holiday cheer) In the war you saw great horrors and comitted some yourself. near the end of the war... you went bonkers, and became jolly. once a year you give out gifts to all the boys and girls. you know who's been bad or good. your preffered method of transportation? A sleigh with 8 reindeer. No matter where you are that's what you ride. Middle of the desert? Middle of the ocean? Outer-space? No matter what you'll ride that sleigh. Your always surprised when elves are tall and not making toys. |
| xXDystopiaXx06-11-08, 11:25 AM | Delusional ( ) In the war you saw great horrors and comitted some yourself. near the end of the war... you went bonkers, and lost your temper. You anger very easily. one day you flew into a rage because your freind accidentally shot you in the back in battle. your commanding officer said he would take care of it, but justice wasn't enough. You wanted revenge, you wanted him and all who call him freind to die. What is your sin? It is the Sin of wrath......... |
