| Hav0k06-18-05, 09:02 PM | Okay, well a friend and I decided to make our character's revolve around one another. We are in a five level party consisting of: Wizard / Sorcerer / Monk / Cleric / Fighter I'm the Gold Dwarf Sorcerer... He's the Sun Elf Wizard :) If you haven't seen the irony, you're blind. Basically these two character's have a deep affection (brotherly love only) for each other. They wouldn't dare admit it to anyone else (or themselves)... but if one would die it is quite possible the other would die from mourning and losing the will to live. They are both of the same alignment (Chaotic Good), but it was my idea that they have two completely different point-of-views. They are in constant arguments over even the smallest things. My character beleives that Fear is Power, his character beleives that Respect is Power. We decided to make Intimidate a class skill for me, and say that I cannot take any ranks in Diplomacy. We made Diplomacy a class skill for his Wizard (it's an INT ability skill now), and he cannot take ranks in intimidate. My character focus's on dealing damage and improving himself, while his character focus's on area-effects and improving himself. So does anyone have any ideas to further this? It seems like it will work quite well. Oh, By the way, our familiars (A Hawk and a Rat) happen to be the best of friends :D EDIT: We are Level 9 party at the moment. |
| Hav0k06-19-05, 06:43 PM | Sorry for the bump, but really... any help would be appreciated. Namely: 1) Backstory - how they met, each other's background and how they relate to each other. 2) Where they go... more on how their outlooks should be, etc.etc... I had an idea, if anyone wants to rate it for me: Palos (the Dwarf) , and Sunnet (the Elf) trained in schools for the Arcane Arts at early ages. Palos went to a school that trained primarily on damaging spells and on casting these spells spontaniously. Sunnet trained in the art of the books, and became a powerful area-changing wizard. The schools were both sabotaged by a local Theif Guild, and came together to solve the problem. Sunnet and Palos were both stuck to a sqaudron of mages, and this is where they met. At first, it was a bitter hatred... the races weren't meant to be together, and wizards weren't too fond of sorcerers, or the other way around. Palos was cornered by a very strong rogue strongarm, and nearly beaten to death when Sunnet saved him. The two "put-up" with each other after that, even studying the theories behind magic every now and then. On a trip to a larger city to buy gear, the caravan was attacked... this time it was Palos who saved Sunnets life. After this, the two would not be apart from each other... but would still not admit the growing fondness. |
| Harrow Blade06-20-05, 01:27 AM | it sounds to me like you've got it sorted out fairly well. one thing I could suggest is good natured pranks, eg Palos getting sunnet's familiar drunk to see if it affected sunnet, or making his spell book invisible etc. things like that can be all sorts of fun. |
| Hav0k06-20-05, 08:25 AM | Wonderful idea :) hehe... get his familiar drunk... exactly the kinda stuff these characters would do to each other. Thank you. |
| Harrow Blade06-21-05, 09:56 AM | Another Idea that has come to me since is that along the lines of Legolas and Gimley of Lord of the Rings fame. The two characters have very different back grounds but have formed a fast friendship. Palos may extol the virtues of a beard and to humour him Sunnet may develop a cantrip to promote beard growth to try out a beard. Similarly raves about something positivly elvish and palos tries it, something like painting or playing the harp or having pointy ears. Hehe, would be hilarious to see an Elf with a bushy beard and a dwarf with pointy ears. On a more serious note the pair should develop a method of working together that is beyond normal. Depending on how your DM feels you may want to come up with a custom feat that the two of you take that enhances your abilities when together. |
