Hello, I am asking a question about an old 2nd Edition kit from The Complete Book of Elves. There are no places to post questions about 2nd, so I figured that with many of the opinions of elves for v.3.5 that I have seen posted here and many which I have adapted into my own campaigns, that you all would be the people to ask. My problem is in TCBoE, it says about the bladesinger kit you take the bladesingers level, divide by 2 and add 1. Now, my only question is this... how do you determine the bladesingers level? Say you have a level 10/11 F/M that is playing a bladesinger. I have heard you take his two levels and add them together, divide by 2 and add 1, but I have also heard that you only use his highest class level. in this case 11. Can any of you shine some light on this for me? Any assistance would be most appreciated. Thanks!

IIRC, you have to be a multiclassed fighter/mage to take the bladesinger kit anyway, so you most definitely add the fighter and mage levels, add 1, and then divide by two. The Bladesinger in your example would be an 11 ((10+11+1)/2=11).
