Sometimes I like creating characters with a little more character, but coming form the Star Wars universe where most Jedi have little more than a lightsaber and talk only when nessacary; I usually play a fighter class with low charisma. I often play with other characters who will literally spend 30 minutes role playing the purchase of a hat. Does anyone have any tips on how to get overly deep imersion role players to speed up without forceably becoming the DM.

I'd start by syaing somehting like:

"You're buying a hat. That's all you need to say. Unless it is vitally important that the GM/DM and the rest of the party hear you discussing you headgear, you can let it stop at that."

You do this a couple times (only when they are being unreasonably, you don't want them to think your just a jerk), and they should start getting the message that this is a game for people that want to roleplay heroes, and they want to roleplay them while their being heroic. No where in LotR does it say anything about Frodo going to the bathroom. There is a reason for this. If it persists, talk to your DM/GM (outside of the game) and ask him/her to limit the Unecessary Playing Out of Mundane Encounters (or UPOoME).

Have fun:cool:
