I don't think it matters what level you start a character out at. If he's got a few levels, it just means he's had a bit more experience which in my opinion just makes it easier. (Hard to rationalize a 1st level captain of the guard) If he's a sniper, then maybe some time was spent as an archer for a group of bandits or if you want him to be fairly good (not a good idea :D ) then maybe have him be a part of hunters that worked for some noble person to flush out game so they could hunt easier. I'd just make him be from some sort of assassin gang and his job was to pick off the straglers.

It's my experience that if you start out with one or two traits others wil develop over time. Now. since youve missed a few sessions use this as an excuse to make an uber char. Find out why he is uber. Think of how you would have turned out if you had lived lifein his shoes. This should be easy because it's my exp. that players subconciously (I know i slaughtered it :) ) model there chars. after them selves.

Do this and i'll promise you that you'll have a good character and one that is fun to Role play.

Good gaming :D

Thanks for all the great advice...but my worry was for naught....all i needed was some sleep to think....
i have gotten so far that he worked in a special forces unit for an army in his home town.....but has bad memories of killing innocents and such.....so is always punishing himself and has vowed to not do it again......
He also has a fear of cold dark places.....like......Dungeons....lol this should be good

THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT ADVICE
