Imagine, for example, some sort of repetition in the patterns of conflict.

isnt the average lifespan of an elf like 700 years?

It could also be a campaign-specific thing too.

There is also an epic feat which adds half your maximum age to itself. So a 700 year age limit with this feat would now be 1150 age limit and it moves the age categorys back also except if your already middle age you stay that age.

Like Trydan said, your character probably saw more than his share of wars, country's coming, going, heros emerge and being forgotten except in some very ancient tome. You've probably even known a few generations of creatures with long lives, like dragons. Prehaps the short lived 'mortals' interest you since they go after fame, forturtune, love, right from the get go and are forgotten just that fast.

Or prehaps your character is bored with them for reasons like that. You might also be patient, consisdering how long you've lived. What a human what start at that very momment may take you three or four years of planning before you start it.

Also how would your character be seen from other points of view. Is he some sort of mythological being of legend from the worlds point of view. A powerful fighter who appeared in a few battles and virtually changed the course of the war by himself?

Or has he been forgotten since your character never did anything earth shaking?

Just some things to think about.

It is possible to raise a dragon from hatchling to ancient wurm, either as familar, pet, companion or mount. Such a relationship would be very deep -- more so that anything between dragons and humanoids normally would.

That has a lot of potential. Tip-of-the-hat to The_Yellow_Dart_Swinger...

I have a general theory that the human mind wouldn't really hold up much over a century or so, even if old age weren't an issue. Our outlooks change so much over the few short decades we have, what immortal could possibly stay sane through the millennia?

Long-lived fantasy races prove an interesting question. How do elves stay sane? Well, I'd say that they're calmer than us humans, not rushing about so much. They've got plenty of time. But even for an elf, poetry and meditation has to get old after a few hundred years.

If you're making an elf that's lived five times his natural lifespan, my suggestion is this: whatever he did to last that long, he's probably regretting it to some degree by now. Maybe eternal life sounded sweet back in the Bronze Age, but after millennia of watching you society slowly decline while human tribes swarm like locusts over your once-pristine forests and plains, he might be just a little bitter...

I am going to have him be a part of a proficy that he was he was born the tenth child of the tenth generation of his house and was draconic for no reason {ancestor wise}.
Part of the proficy was that he would not be affected by the passing of time and he would be the greatest warrior ever to walk the earth.
I still need some things that he would have been against in wars.
The family he is in has a hatred for red dragons.

He will not be good for sure, since he saw virtually everything turning to dust. He is neutral.

Some dieties must have seen him and might have influenced on him.

He does not live in society or if he does he is legendary.
