| Radijs01-19-07, 01:06 PM | (reference: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=760609 ) Yesterday we continued playing and several things happened. The first crewmember that got arrested had been sentenced to 'community service'. Which in short meant that he had to assasinate someone in exchange for his freedom. But it turns out that the person he's supposed to kill is the bride which thankfully turned up without us having anything to do about it. Still Santo believes that the families would not be very inclined to produce letters of the mark if the wedding doesn't pull through so Santo ordered the crewmember not to go through with his assignment and instead lays out a plan for the crewmember to fake his own death escaping his task as an assasin. So he agrees and his death is staged while the wedding procession is marching through the streets. And the crewmember is, as part of the scam dumped temporarily on a small rock island 150 meters out of the coast. All he needs to do is sit there till we pick him up the next day or somesuch. Well he goes and cry for help and is picked up and the guild of assasins carefully reminds him of his tasks, dress him up so he's unreciognizable and send him to the wedding where he proceeds to take a stab at the bride. Combat ensues between the party and the "mystery assasin" AKA the crewmember and some ancient ghosts that have awakened due to a curse thats been placed on the land. A long combat encounter later the ghosts lay defeated and the party is now ready to deal with the assasin, whom by now we can guess with pretty great certainty is our crewmember. And this leaves me in a bit of a pickle. On one side I'd like to turn him over to the families who'll probably want to have a brief chat with him in the comforting glow of a brazier reflecting of an iron maiden. I'd like to do this because I can probably fetch a hefty sum for him, gain more favour with these families and rid myself of someone who disobeyed my orders. On the other hand I would prefer not to hand him over because I prefer not to hang other PC's out to dry. But I can't really justify protecting him in-character. |
| Need_A_Life01-19-07, 01:42 PM | Well, I would hang him out to dry... Seriously, he not only disobeyed orders, but ended up risking others life to suit himself, that's a pickle he should get himself out of. *** IMG we had a character arrested on the following charges: - Barbrawl (one charge) - Possession of illegal drugs (one charge) - Drunk and disorderly in public (five charges) - Taking an officer of the Watch hostage (one charge) - Burglary (one charge) - Resisting arrest (one charge) - Piratry (one charge) - Theft (one charge) - Failure to repay the local church an owed amount [10,000gp] (one charge) - Desecration of the local church (one charge) - Violent assault (two charges) - Murder (seven charges) The group decided that he was a liability (having two characters who were continually working as his lawyers was getting tiresome) and that when he got caught and faced with those charges, he'd have to deal with it himself... he did by assaulting a guard and fighting his way out of the courthouse. We allowed him to rejoin the group, but let him know that if he ever became so stupid as to anger a powerful church again and then desecrate their altar, we'd turn him in ourselves. That character was soon after killed. *** On one side I'd like to turn him over to the families who'll probably want to have a brief chat with him in the comforting glow of a brazier reflecting of an iron maiden. Perhaps you think he should be considered innocent by virtue of mental defect? Yes, I realise that I am advocating one PC failing to stand up and protect one of his own, but any moderately mature group should be able to handle it; he's just taking the consequences of his actions. |
