| Elith E'Lyan01-16-04, 05:33 PM | Well, that's kind of tricky, cause Barbarian kind of means "not civilized" by defenition. But just because you're a Barbarian, you don't have to go around smashing heads and starting brawls. There's no reason you can't be the wise and reverent Barbarian character, capable of amazing feats of strength and endurance when required, but normally mild mannered, and charming. You could even have a character who sort of regrets what he becomes when he goes into a rage. Is that what you mean by a civilized character? But, reading Faerun's greatest literary works and knowing which fork to use for the Oyster dish, doesn't really fit. Then you're just using the class for the stats, not the character. |
| The_Yellow_Dart_Swinger01-16-04, 06:31 PM | Prehaps you can focus on the rage part than the whole barbarian thing, like if you go on the battle your character is known for basicly going beserk when X thing happens (friend gets hurt, you take damage, something like that) And prehaps you do regret it, or you don't. Or prehaps your character has mastered anger/rage to use it effectively in battle as a style of battle per say.. or something.. blah blah blah |

| NZCardinal01-16-04, 06:53 PM | Just rename him a 'brute' instead of a barbarian. problem solved, and if anyone deigns to ask you what the character class "brute" is, tell them its identical to the barbarian class, except more urban. Or perhaps he abuses fly agar before battle to make him fight harder, as the viking berserks of old used to. |
| Myer Lynk01-16-04, 06:58 PM | That sounds like it would work :o) thanks all now I'm thinking for fun to make it a halfing instead of human... small package... big whoopaz |
| NZCardinal01-16-04, 07:06 PM | Nothing scarier than a frothing at the mouth, burbling, angry halfling with a big club and an inferiority complex. Give him maximum intimidation.:b: I had a Halfling fighter/thief back in AD&D the 2nd called Maff the Mad who essentially fits that description. His brutality was unrivaled by anyone, possibly due to some very lucky die rolls and a +2 Morningstar discovered early in the game. :ayyyy!: |
