| peteyrock07-12-07, 12:28 PM | I have just recently created a centaur whom I'm looking forward to playing, but I have a few questions left over. 1. If I were to play him in Forgotten Realms, what regions do centaurs come from? 2. The Monster's Guide states that centaurs have 4 monstrous humanoid levels and the level adjustment is +2. If I were to make his first heroic level Ranger, what would that make his ECL? 3. Would armor for this character cost double? It would require at least double the materials to hook up his horse half with barding. 4. What are centaur names like? I've found no examples and I think Gaylord doesn't quite feel right. (kidding, of course. Gaylord is perfect) |

Check player's Guide to Faerun after the regions for the standard races there are some region setups (including regional feats) for some of the monstrous races. Don't know if Centaurs are actually there but I believe they might be. From memory I think centaurs can be found on the plains of The Shaar. 2. The Monster's Guide states that centaurs have 4 monstrous humanoid levels and the level adjustment is +2. If I were to make his first heroic level Ranger, what would that make his ECL? ECL would be 7 3. Would armor for this character cost double? It would require at least double the materials to hook up his horse half with barding. I think either the regular DMG or the MM have rules regarding armor and humanoids with four legs somewhere. 4. What are centaur names like? I've found no examples and I think Gaylord doesn't quite feel right. (kidding, of course. Gaylord is perfect) I don't remember if there are any rules for it or even suggestions in the MM but in Faerun the ones on the shaar seem to live like native americans so you might want to try starting with that as a name base. |
| warwinner07-13-07, 02:42 AM | Races of wild has rules for centaur names and other info on centaurs for pc's Character Names: Centaur given names usually multisyllabic and usually contain “z” “x” “r” and “y” Centaurs have single given name plus a family name [usually one syllable] Example name: Krynzin, Mezzryn, Tyrrox Example Family Names: Myr, Tor |

| Hammer_of_Tyr07-15-07, 12:32 AM | Look around before you roll dice. I was looking into rolling up a centaur and I "think" there are a few different versions of the centaur monstrous race. you might be able to get away with a lower ECL, Check Races of the wild, Check in a few different places (Unless you WANT a higher ECL??) |
