Maybe then it would hurt so much. All the demon had asked for was the life of a child, a mere babe. And back then, even that was an acceptable price for Rej's revenge. His whole world had been taken away from him, his wife and child, his parents, his whole town. Taken away by some fool prince who wanted to expand his territory and impress his father, the king. Laying in the ruins of his home, Rej cried out to anyone who could hear him, and the demon answered his call. It would grant him the power to obtain his revenge if Rej brought it a new born child. What importance might one child have in the world? What a fool he had been. Rej often wished hegave up his soul, he offered to give it to the demon in exchange for the childs life. But he hasnt heard from the demon since that fateful day. He attended the funeral of the child, though he stood in the distance. He overheard that the child was one mentioned in a prophecy, that she was meant for great things. And Rej had killed her for his revenge. Rej now fights for his revenge, for if he doesnt obtain it, the child died for nothing. But he finds himself deeper and deeper, doing deeds that he never would have considered previously. But he wont stop until he gains revenge on the man who ruined his life. He cant stop. *** Totally random background that i just pulled out of you know where. I figure he is a neutral evil warlock with the touch of benovolence feat. I see him doing whatever he needs to, to get his revenge, but will often try to minimise the pain he causes along the way. He will team up with the bad guys, but send word to authorities about an impending attack or tell a temples paladin an event that isnt related to his revenge. He knows he is doing evil, but cant bring himself to stop until he gains revenge. What do you all think? |

| Fithero08-21-07, 10:55 PM | Argh, so many spelling mistakes in the first post... i should be shot:nonono: As for the prince, i think to make things more interesting, he would be a goodly prince. The town the Rej lives in was likely a strategic point for a major battle and both sides of the conflict probably decided that it was an acceptable loss. Rej wouldnt and couldnt know this however, so is going with the automatic response that his own side is right and the attackers are wrong. This could lead to some interesting situations later on. He could fight his way to the prince, doing whatever he sees as neccessary to get there, where upon the prince tells him the truth of the battle that wiped out his town. Upon hearing the goodly princes regret that the town was the point of the battle, and that he was infact attacking an unjust kingdom. At this point Rej could either let his revenge consume him and kill the prince anyway OR he could say, my own rulers are at fault for my losses and join forces with the prince (but still gain revenge by killing his own rulers) But for that to work, the prince probably should have tried to avoid putting the battle in the town... oh well, i can work around that. But yeah, no matter what he does up until he gains revenge, (hopefully)nothing will worse than killing the child, and afterwards he will probably do whatever he can to repent. Sounding any better? |

| Fithero08-22-07, 07:53 AM | I was thinking about Planescape Torment, about how that character thought he had done so many evil deeds, that he actually became an immortal to try and give himself enough time to atone. I was thinking of something along those lines. There is the Eldritch Disciple from Complete Mage, that grants you immortality at 10th lvl. But that would involve him worshipping the demon/devil that gave him his powers... it could be done though. It would probably be one of those "well, ive come this far, whats a little more going to do?" situations that leads to him becomming a cleric then Eldritch Disciple. What do you all think of that? This guy keeps thinking that if he goes a little further, he will stop then be able to begin to repent. An interesting aspect of a character, he gets the immortality from a source, then turns on the source and uses his immortality to try and repent, though in his eyes it will never likely be enough. Thoughts? |
