| Epicuris07-03-03, 10:47 AM | I'm creating a psionic character in non-psionic world (Forgotten Realms). I rolled these scores: Str - 12 Dex - 18 Con - 14 Int - 16 Wis - 16 Cha - 15 Race: Half-elf Even though I used one of my lowest scores on Cha, I was thinking of becoming a Telepath and use all my ability bonuses to up it to 20. The problem I'm having is I don't know how a psion would be treated in a world ruled by magic. How would I differentiate him from wizards and sorcerers, seeing as he'll be taking there type of role in the party. He's a sociable loner, friendly but distant, and is interested in the arts (psionics foremost) and self-expression. Any help will be welcomed. Thanks. |

Most people will believe that you are, and treat you the same as they will arcane casters, but most spellcasters will know the difference. I'm in a FR game with a Psion and I always treat and refer to him as if he's a wizard. |

I've seen Psions who regard magic as silly little book-tricks, and Psions who think it's fascinating that something so different produces similar results... I guess I'd expect that how Magically-inclined folks treated him would depend on how he treated them. That said, it seems likely that offhand, a Mage would think him another Mage unless they bothered to detect magic or such. I mean, if they hung around him for any extended period of time they'd start noticing little differences - mostly components - and would probably find it a fascinating variant on Magic (if they're study-inclined), a suspicious and unreliable variant on Magic (if they're a bit uppity or paranoid), or an affront to real magic (if they're the type who have big poles stuck up their... n'mind). 'Course, you could just ask your GM how the world will treat psionics... |

I played as a dhampir (half-vampire) once and I talked to the DM so that the other players would just think I'm a human. If the other players don't know you could ask the DM to keep it secret so that it comes as a big surprise to the others. And I noticed you're from North Dakota too. Which part of the cultural center of the world do you hail from? |

Heres a tip, always get the powers levitation and talons, for the following reasons; levitation - it's just mega usefull, you can imagine talons - it's scares the s*** out of normal NPC's |
