As i'm working on a new character for a filed-with-demons campaign. he will be a level 2 fighter level 3 barbarian
.....always adventured, until he was captured and tortured until he went mad.. when he was going with his master to a city, to be sold.. the caravan was raided/destroyed bij demons. then he felt his rage, and with force he ripped the chain, that kept him on his cage, of the bars.. and ran away with incredible speed (the barbarian inside him)..... he completly lost his mind, and ran into a burning forest.... there he met a tribe of orc's, and he slay a few of them.... finaly he was, again, put in captivity, where the wise people of the orc tribe, gave him a chance to live with them in peace, because they, they saw that he was an outcast, just like them....

after a few years living with them, he felt strong enough to find his master who putted him through hell, and kill him... for that he had to go into the evil place he was tortured... that led him to a mine where the campaign begins..
----------------------------------------------

that's how i have it until now... but i think i need more, and i hoped you could help me..

owyeah... i'm playing a high powered campaign so my stats are
STR: 17 (+1 on 4th level so now it's 18)
DEX: 16
CON: 18
INT: 14
WIS: 17
CHA: 12

he still has his chain around his neck and wrists... so he's specialised in the spiked chain (the orc tribe made it a weapon for him, that he could easily put under his clothes if needed)

Hmm... I'm not sure in what way you would like help. Are you short of ideas? Details? Settings? Names? What...?

Give us some ideas as to what you regard as lacking, and we'll do our best to help.

i always think about the adventures that he has been through.... but never about the things happend before he went adverturing...

how he became a fighter... and was it always known that he had barbarian characteristics... (he is chaotic Neutral)..

also, i need some extra details about his master... how was he tortured in slavery... what made him brake...

something like that...... those are details that are hard for me..

Right... let's start with the "captured and tortured". And let's start with "why?". I mean, why was he captured - as a slave, as a prisoner, for the ransom, for food? And then, why was he tortured - for fun? to extract information?

I think by starting to explore some of this, it will help you glean an idea as to why he was important in the first place.

And the idea of "always adventured"... okay, that works for a Barbarian. So what is the context of this. Is it due to the fight for survival (in a hostile environment) or was survival never an issue, and it was something that a child-hood love to explore developed into?

I personally think that very few adventurers begin, just by having "always adventured". Most are driven into it by some sort of need. However, there is nothing to stop your character being an exception.

However, think of the background story to his parents, and see if that helps. Where did they live (wilderness, city, etc.)? what were they? Were they captured too? Perhaps their death prompted your characters first rage?

Anyway, there are some ideas. Good luck with it.

This sounds like a candidate for the Frenzied Berserker Prestige Class if there ever was one. It reminds me of Minsc from Baldur's Gate also, a brain-damaged ranger who could go into a berzerker rage and wore full plate. Get a pet hamster and name it Boo. :D

An easy explaination of starting out with a level or two of fighter is to say that you were a guardsman in some town or other, or a soldier, before becoming an adventurer.
