When Tamuri was 6, a band of theives came to the Estate to ransack it (it apparently housed quite expensive items inside), and killed Tamuri's father in the process. Tamuri was shocked of course, but more disheartened than vengeful. His stayed with his mother as she continued to spiral downward in stability... Finally after progressive years of yelling at Tamuri, she beat him fairly severely on his 11th birthday. When he went to bed that night he waited for her to fall asleep and gathered some small possessions and set out on his own, never even considering returning. Walking just till about the next town over, he came to a carpenter's shop and begged to take up an apprenticeship. The carpenter (in pity) agreed. The carpenter specialized in making fine instruments, and Tamuri quickly learned to play from the man (thus becoming a bard). One day when Tamuri was about 15 or 16, the Carpenter sent him to deliver a package to a man at the local docks. The package was a superbly created viola and the buyer was a slightly known pirate. When Tamuri came to the docks he was instantly enchanted by the site of all the ships and the vast span of water... He found the buyer and went to hand him the package; but the buyer said to him "How will I know if the sounds worth such a price lad? Play me something." And so Tamuri played and the pirate (and his crew behind him) yelled rowdily in support of his piece. Tamuri instantly knew he could fall in love with doing that everyday, so he fell to the floor and begged them to let him come along and learn about the seaways. The pirate (being of surprisingly good character) hesitated, but agreed none the less, and allowed Tamuri time to tell the Carpenter before leaving the docks with him. From there he simply sailed with them until he had learned all he could from them, and then left to find a new vessel with a new crew and stories to learn. And so he spent the next few years of his life hoping from pirate vessel to pirate vessel (and even the occasional non-pirate one) helping in every position from cabinboy to ship's entertainment, to captain's right-hand. Any opinions? |

In your story, it is a bit like if everyone is good in the world, even the thieves who killed his father (he's not vengeful), except his mother who yelled at him and beat him. Are those pirate attacking trading ships, or are they only trading illegal spices? |
| Abnon11-12-03, 06:34 PM | Actually you were pretty dead on... They were sort of reject pirates that really only dealt with smuggling and running away from bar tabs... ;) |

| Abnon11-13-03, 03:58 PM | What from who? |
| Domni Dalrose11-17-03, 11:40 PM | Well, he kinda sounds more like a swashbuckler than a pirate...so does the crew of the ship. :D And if you pardon my saying so, he also sounds like a bard. Good mix in my opionion. :) Check out the link below, it's a fairly balanced swashbuckler core class that your dm might allow. From your history, I'd say go evenly swashbuckler and bard in levels.
