I'm assuming that this is the Warforged race (sentient, living contructs, originally from the Eberron campaign setting) in the Shackled City adventure path.

In which case, a few questions

Is this being run in the Eberron setting, because the background doesn't fit that of the setting. If it's not, you'll have to check your DM allows Warforged, and that this fits in, but it's as good a description of any as how a WF gets made as any.

One thing to think about is why he is off adventuring away from the smithy he is supposed to be guarding? Is he tracking someone down or looking into the trouble? Has he turned away from the dwarves and gnomes he's supposed to be working for, and if so, why? And what is going to happen when they find where their costly creation has gone off to? Do they live in Cauldron, the epynonymous Shackled City? Because if they do, you're almost certain to meet them again

Darkvision wise: maybe he gains Darkvision but not standard vision. Sees regardless of light conditions, but only to 60ft. Just a thought.

Hope some of this helps you think out your concept.
