Why do people act the way they do? how do they know each other, what do they know about eachother? theses are just a couple of questions that should be answered. the "childhood friends" and "met in a bar" only goes so far, to get truly FUN characters, I believe more work should be put into it. Curst Ravenheart, brother, manservant and bodyguard of the sorcerer Zeke Ravenheart. Also when need arises pickpocket, "item retriever" and assasin. In the crew, we also have our brilliant guard dog, an half ogre forsaker aptly named "Brutus"(hired in as extra muscle...), and the charismatic dragon-disciple Cyjer the enchanter(local guy, with the connections. basicly "in charge" of this crew. Though, Curst make's the "security" decisions, Zeke tends to be impulsive and get us into all sorts of adventures, and the ogre, well, the ogre follows those who pay it, which happens to be the Ravenheart brothers..). My character (rog2, devoted defender 3, assasin 1) is a bloody fun character to play, one of the best yet. me and the bloke who play Zeke immediately found our places, with his (the younger brother) being care-free and adventurous (due to a VERY protected life) and Curst, a silent, bitter and VERY scarred protector..... Whaddya guys think of my thoughts?? //Calle PS. we play a mix of 3.0 and 3.5. |

I run a very non-linear style of game when I DM, and that doesn't work well with a bunch of unmotivated, mismatched PCs haphazardly thrown together. I had a big game world prepared, with lots to do, but the players made absolutely no effort to stick together as a group. It completely ruined my buzz. Now I always have a theme that knits the group together. I make sure that everyone at least discusses their personalities and to some extent their goals (no one has to pour their hearts out.. I encourage players to be secretive with their characters) so that unwanted conflicts can be avoided, while the much desireable conflicts can be brought to the surface. ^_^ ~Ginger |
