This illithig is a Nin1/Tel1, with ECL 16.
She's LG, because of something that happened to her in the underdark. She ended up leaving her community, and now travels the world above as a bringer of light and justice.
She wears no armor, and has a high AC because of the level in ninja and the huge WIS.
Any ideas, anybody?

The way you're talking you're looking for the optimization boards.

This is the board where we help you figure out why it (Mindflayers are asexual IIRC) is LG.

The optimization boards are the place that'll help you with that AC

I was under the same notion as well, up until I flipped though the BoED. It has info on a specific female Illithid who converted.
I was so very confused, but I figured that it's just incredibly difficult to tell what gender they are, thus them always being referred to as "its".

You know, I had an idea like this before (see here (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=571951)). If you want background, consider a failed ceremorphosis. Mind Flayer prophecies speak of the Adversary, a Mind Flayer who retains the soul of the human whose brain was food for the illithid tadpole. Which is why Mind Flayers are quick to kill deviant mind flayers (who retain a habit from their former life). It's trying to prevent the prophecy. Which may make you hate mind flayers because they're determined to kill you.

And though Mind Flayers are asexual, the humans who become them are not, so fragments of personality can imply gender.

"Book of Exalted Deeds" if I recall correctly.

Sweet water to you!

u do recall correctly

what about this: she encountered a "helm of opposite alignment" from the cursed items in dmg, then we've got the alignment fixed

Rather go with the prophecy otherwise the character has immunity to a favorite cursed item (cannot be used more than once) and the DM should have a problem with that.

Besides, just because you have all required to be the prophecied Mind Flayer does not mean that you actually are the one. You can still die, there'll just be another one about eventually.

One major problem with an Illithid becoming good is...you MUST consume the brains of intelligent creatures in order to survive. Without, I believe, one intelligent brain a week, an illithid first begins to lose it's powers and within a very few weeks deteriorates and dies (I believe Lords of Madness has info on that). A good illithid must somehow reconcile the fact that it devours the still living brains of other people in order to live.

That would make her CG.

What is Tel1? A telephonist?

I had a campaign, that ended not too long ago, where one of my partymembers were a good illithid. He ate the brains of the evil creatures and criminal humanoids we encountered. Well as long as they didn't repent what they had done ;) he were a paladin.

With their starting ECL wealth, an Illithid can easily afford a Ring of Sustenance or a Clear Spindle Ioun Stone, I'd think. That, or go the illithilich route (become an alhoon). It would be ironic if someone choose undeath for moral reasons.

Choosing undeath for moral reasons could be really interesting indeed, in fact I like the potential of the idea as far as possibly leading to a very deep conflicted character, a tragic hero type perhaps.
Lich, and most other undead are pretty much innately evil beings right? And even if they succeed in actually being good aligned always have to deal with the fact that deep down inside they are still a being tainted by evil? This along with being an Illithid would kinda be a double wammy as far as coping with being something with evil tendencies. I'd think such a creature would have serious psychological issues, always fighting against its own nature. Even if undeath is chosen for good reasons, remember the road to hell is often paved with good intentions.
Even going the killing criminals and eating their brains route should leave any really good aligned character a troubled conscience. They may be evil, but they are still sentient beings, beings that could have families that love them, and people whom rely on them, beings that have lives, and perhaps even a potential for redemption if they hadn't been killed. I think only someone that's strayed from the path of good could kill (and the illithid isn't just killing, she's eating them as well) without feeling any remorse. That sort of thing alone comes with the possibility of such a character to fall (or at the very least become neutral) if she should become indifferent to killing.

Either you and I have very similar experiences or we have played together.

Anyway, if we are talking about the same person his player made it very clear to us that only people sentenced to death who did not regret what they had done were to be used for lunch.
Thankfully, that character is now dead. Killed by ~15 gods, while my character was at the libary.
