Aasimar Favored Soul - why would he be picked by Onatar (Eberron)? [Archive] - Wizards Community

I'm trying to come up with a good background story to justify being an Aasimar Favored Soul of Onatar in the Eberron setting.
Preferable without having to follow the current suggestions of my GM to mix in a half-dwarf with all of the dwarven stats or have the Least DM of house Cannith...

Onatar is the god associated with crafting, artificers, dwarfs, fire and the forge etc.

I believe that his objections is partly due to wanting to challenge me RP-wise, as I'm prone to min-max'ing, although in this case it's me just having the vision of using a Warhammer instead of the (imho) generic and boring Longsword.

Problem for me is the Favored Soul isn't known for feats a plenty nor a lot of skill points, and since it's low-power chars, I don't want to blow feats for the Mark or take the penalties from the Dwarf (penalty since they have -2 cha, which mixes badly with the FS class, being somewhat strikken by MAD and Cha dependent) - I guess it's the "power-gamer" in me talking there... ;)
As he sees it, Aasimar is actually a half-human, half "divine being", thus the half-dwarf half-divine suggestion.

So far I've tried to avoid what I see as a penalty with a few ideas, all having been shot down so far or "expanded" upon to the point where penalties were introduced.

So here is what I have to work with so far:

I've tried to argue that the FS is "chosen" directly by the god, even before birth, so I need some RP aspect of why Onatar would pick "me".

Association with House Cannith (house of making).
Connection to the Dwarven people.
Fire having a prominent role in my characters life.

I'm not really good at RP'ing in my own opinion, but I'm still a sucker for a good story myself and usually trying to come up with ideas that aren't too far-fetched...
