This families traditions dictate that the first son would rule the family estates, the second son would traditionally become part of the military, or any such similar job, to get a share of the families estates when he retired, and the third son, and any further sons after that, would generally go into the service of some church or another, and would not get any share of the family fortune. He accepted this mostly, understanding that this was beyond his control. When he was 11, his uncle (who visited from time to time and, while hated by aerons parents, was family and couldn't be turned away. Aeron on the other hand loved him dearly, and thouroughly enjoyed his visits. He gathers that his uncle was seen as a sort of black sheep) managed to get him enrolled in a highly exclusive academy quite far away. So, he went off there and, while his uncle told his family that he was training to become a priest of some deity or another, learned the arts of the sword. When not training to fight, he spent a lot of time in the library, and focused on religious studies. It was at this point that he decided that all gods are self serving *******s, whose only goal was to garner enough faith in them to reach higher pinnacles of power. When he was 16, his family, for reasons that werent explained to him, were forced to leave the country, pulling him out of the acadamy to go to family land in the western heartlands. He had given some thought to it when in training, and spending time in the library, and had decided that the strict traditions that his family followed were, frankly, stupid and pointless. He kept this to himself mostly, until, at age 19, his father decided that he had lain about using up his dwindling money on food and clothing for far too long, and informed him that he would be going into the church of torm. He was horrified by this, and so, in the middle of the night, set off with some basic equipment on an expensive horse stolen from his fathers stable. He decided to head for the nearest big city (Baldurs Gate) and decide what do do from there. Along the way he met up with his current companion, a half-elven bard by the name of elerand. Now, they together have arrived at the city, their whole lives before them... |
