Aliatra, the Druid Elf needs a personality and past. All I know is she is brave:fight!: and argues her point. She takes charge of almost every situation and has strong will power. But I need ideas for where she came from, and what happened way back when. Any suggestions?

Lemme give this a try, Elfie :D

The elves have always had a strong tradition in the Druidic arts. Aliatra, whose name means "Star Wind", was born to the Druid Corgana and her Ranger lover Delvinias. The three lived in a secluded area of the ancient forest Oawakhelm within easy travelling distance of the Elven Metropolis Cristhanal.

In her early years, Aliatra became enamored with the animals of the forest, her mother often befriending squirrels and other small creatures which Aliatra would play with throughout the days. Sometimes she would follow her father on hunts, watching how he wielded the bow with deadly accuracy. Other times she would travel with her mother. Corgana taught her daughter all that she knew about the natural world. Aliatra learned to identify which plants were poisonous, which animals were too dangerous to be eaten, and how to communicate with the natural world. She listened to the voices of the trees, the speech of the wind, the very life in every aspect of nature. The three lived comfortably in a wooded glen for many many years.

One day though, a fire began sweeping through the forest. Corgana, the leader of the conclave of Druid's that lived within the wood, took charge of the situation and commanded Delvinias to take their daughter far from the area. The Ranger carried his daughter to the outskrits of the elven city and left her in the hands of the city's guards. Delvinias was famous for his silent protecton of the area and his daughter was greeted warmly. With a few quick commands the Elf vanished into the forests.

Aliatra stayed in the guard house for three days, completely alone and frightened. She had never been around so many other humanoids and it frightened her. She longed to return to the forest, to the animals, to her parents.

On the third night when the light of the moon filtered through the treetops, a knocking could be heard upon the door of the gatehouse. When the door was opened, Delvinias was revealed, carrying a haggard and burnt but still alive Corgana in his arms. Aliatra ran to her parents and embraced them.

The three could not return to their home. The forest had been damaged and burnt. The old trees had been destroyed, the animals had fled. The forest would return but it would be many eons before it returned to its old splendor. The three elves took up residence in Cristhanal, living on the outskirts of town. Delvinias worked as a trapper and hunter while Aliatra helped the town as an herbalist and a healer. Corgana rarely left the house.

The once proud Druid had lost her will. The death of her beloved forest symbolized a death within her. She was merely a shell of her former self. The years went by and Aliatra watched Corgana decay into a sad and wretched creature. Aliatra loathed what her mother had become, feared the fact that such a strong person could be so easily destroyed. One day, unable to take her silent house any longer, Aliatra fled. She would find her own connection to the forest, she would prove that she was strong, she would not succumb to despair.

Personality:
Aliatra is strong. Outwardly she is a pillar. Very little can sway her opinions and even less can actually get her to change her mind. Some of her companions might find her too loud, too cocky, too out in front. They might feel slightly overshadowed by her.

Internally Aliatra is weak. She's a little girl who is afraid of becoming weak. She fears the weakness more than she fears death. Aliatra would rather rush into battle headfirst than admit that she is afraid. Nothing is worse than fear in her mind. But when she is alone she feels the fear return and grip her heart. She cries into the shoulder of her animal companion (I dunno what her animal companion is, you can fill that in, it should have a name) silently, hoping that noone can see her, despising her own weakness.

Hope that helps.

What I do when I'm making a character is think about where he came from. What was his childhood like? Who was his family? Are they still close? What in his past lead up to him choosing the skills and feats he has? How did he become whatever class he is? Was he trained or did he stumble into it?

Does he have any friends? Any enemies? Why? What did he do? What did they do to him? How do his neighbors view him? Does he have a house? Or is he a traveler?

What made him want to be an adventurer? What are his goals? How will adventuring help him accomplish them? Will adventuring hinder any of his goals?

Does he care about the consequences of his actions on his close associates? Are there things he always does? Are there things he never does? What can push him over the edge?

Thank you both. the background idea was great from the first post. I might use some of it in the real one. I didnt like the "weak on the inside" thing or the "cocky" thing, but other than that it was great! Thanks, and to anyone else, do you have any ideas?:fight!: They say a Prince learns no art truly but the art of horsemanship. The reason is the beast is no :bow:flatterer. A horse will throw a Prince as soon as his groom.

Lol, no problem, I understand.

Pick and choose what you want. It was just a suggestion to be modified as you see fit. :D I've kind of been writing some lately and I just kinda got wrapped up in the story I had in my mind.

No ill-feelings felt. Hope you have fun with the character.:D

Thanks. I love this character, and one thing about each character I play, I put a little bit of myself in them. This one is my first one created by me. I usually use onr my friend had or one like Lidda from the adventure set. I hope I did everything on my character sheet right.:D I would know if I could ever finish reading the section of the PHB 3.5 I'm in!:uh-huh:Oh, what do you like better for an animal companion, a female wolf whom Aliatra has grown up with, or a coal black mare (female horse) whom she has grown up with.(It is a light horse).

Oh, hmmm...

I dunno Stat Wise, I lack any of the books...

I think flavor wise the Mare is cooler, very few Druids have horses, most just go with wolves or bears.

This thread really belongs on the Character Development Forum, as it is asking for a background and story rather than for anything involving rules.
