I have been reading the Alignment section in the PH for quite a while and I dont know how to correctly play TN. Sometimes, he's good. Example: "Are you saying then that we should just leave this village to be destroyed by those gnolls? We shoould take the fight to their leader!" Sometimes, he's evil. Example: The party was interrogating a cultist. They wanted to know where their base of operations was located. The Paladin was asking the questions, but the cultist was just smiling and cursing and never really telling the party what they needed to know. The Paladin was getting really angry but was checking his temper. This druid however, have had enough. DRUID: You are wasting my time. Tell us what you know. NOW. And we'll let you go. CULTIST: I wonder what bloodstriker (dinosaur) eggs taste like? *Mocking smile* The druid blasts his left leg with a bolt of lightning, rendering the leg useless. DRUID: My patience is ending. I will ask one more time and this time I want to hear want I to hear or the other leg goes. He is loyal to his party and to Nature. Am I playing the alignment correctly? |

The question though isn't if you are playing TN correctly, it is if TN is the best alignment to describe him, though I understand you and your character have to keep in mind the veneration of nature above the petty struggles of Good and Evil, Chaos and Law. If he is killing gnolls simply because they are evil rather than, say, that they attacked his people than that might be questionable, but honestly I've only played a NG NPC druid, so I am not skilled with dealing with that aspect of neutrality from a druid's perspective. |

A LN character don't have any personal opinions about good or evil, he lives with both of them... but, he's lawfull, he follows the law, he won't steal (unless there's a VERY good resson for that) won't murder and etc. He'll be loyal to his friends and family. |

On the other hand, he will follow the law because he believes that he can accomplish his goals faster (or wont be bothered) without being chased by the authorities. He'll torture someone if he has to (not just for the fun of it). He'll help his friends out just as long as they do not corrupt nature. He'll save the village because they have gnolls will foul the land and kill off all the animals in the area. I think these are the reasons why I think he's neutral. If I had to break it down, his priorities would be classified as: 1. Nature or his deity 2. His family & The Circle (druid organization that he belongs to) 3. Everything else |
