He doesn't actively seek out to cause excess harm, it's just how he makes his money. Now, my question is... Chaotic Neutral doesn't seem to take into account the harming other people for personal benefit, but neutral evil seems a bit harsh simply for a manner of employment... what're your thoughts on the matter? |

The evil comes about from robbing folks without caring about whether it harms them - you're doing the best for yourself without worrying greatly about who it hurts. Perhaps if you only stole what you were sure people could (comfortably) afford to lose, then you'd have a convincing argument for neutral. |

A Chaotic Neutral would probably have qualms about depriving other individuals of their property/rights, where it sounds like it doesn't keep your character up at night. |

| Mysteris08-12-04, 04:35 PM | There's no reason why he can't go along with the party for his own benefit. If you check out the early Dragonlance books, there is a character, Raistlin Majere, who goes along with a bunch of good and neutral types solely to gather items and magical knowledge for his own benefit. Your character could have a similar motive: if I help the goody-goods, people will like me and trust me so it'll be easier for me to rob 'em blind later and I'll get more powerful and get more goodies to help me become richer and stronger along the way. Your rogue doesn't have to be good to profit from good. :) |
