For those of you who don’t know Ally Silan, you can read a little about her here:
http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=76467

I am in a really odd position with Ally, and I’m not sure what to do…

After every session I play her, I have a little monolog with her to get an idea as to what she will do next session. Well, after the last session, she revealed something that I would have never even thought of…

If you know Ally from my last thread on her, you know that she had a fiancé named Jamie that was killed before her eyes. If you didn’t know that, you know it now. She really loved Jamie. Currently she is about to embark on several quest so some clerics will resurrect him for her.

Well, when I was ‘talking with her’ after the last session, she told me that her love for Jamie was starting to fade. That wasn’t the worst part… She is now in ‘love’ (I seriously doubt that it is true love) with Lazero, some guy who has been hitting on her from the first time he saw her. What’s worse is… Lazero is married.

Here is the special part… The next day, I got the distinct feeling that that was not like Ally at all and that I must have just not thinking strait or something, but the more I thought about it, the more that is seemed to fit for some reason. In any case, if she did decide to go after Lazero it would certainly be… Interesting… To say the least.

I think the most ironic thing is that Ally just got the Iron Will feat that session when she leveled up to represent how dead set she can be, and now she is wavering about her love for her fiancé? For some reason I get the feeling that there is more at work than meets the eye, which is annoying when it’s my character in my head!

I left a lot out, like what has happened to Ally and where she is, because I didn’t want this post to be extremely long. If you need more details or wish to just hear more, then just ask. I am open to suggestions/advice/thoughts.

I guess the real question is, should I listen to what 'Ally said,' or should I go by what I think she would do?

*As an interesting side note, during that session Ally managed to get both of her party members killed. Near the beginning the bard jumped overboard of the ship we were on because he thought that the water was ‘tumble juice,’ something I accidentally got him addicted to. When I took it away, it had some negative effects on him… Like thinking that sea water was what he wanted to drink, so off he went. The Monk was killed by raiders from a camp that Ally led the group to in order to rescue Lazero. Ally’s curse is still strong.

Are you some kind of schizophrene?

Are you some kind of jerk who has to be judgmental towards people who have different ways of role playing than you?

Sure seems like it.

Poor Ally. She just gets into more and more stuff doesn't she?

And I just realized something... She just lost everything she owns because she gave it to the monk to watch over while she snuck into the raider camp... And the monk was killed and looted by the raiders... Wow...

Gah, that leaves her with a desert outfit and a gold comb... She doesn't even have her cat Midnight anymore...

Are you some kind of schizophrene?

No, I just have a nack for being able to create characters and 'talk with them.' It's kind of odd, but I figure it's not too abnormal so long as I know that they arn't real. It's really nifty to be able to do when I'm DMing and need to have more than one NPC interacting with one another.

Ally should avoid Lazero. That is just asking for trouble. Lazero can obviously be cruel and vicious and the relationship would sour quickly, once the passion has gone.

Anyway, Lazero is married. What was Ally's alignment again?

In my opinion, Ally should either pursue her quest to resurrect Jamie, or forget him, move away, and get on with a new life.

Personally, I think that she should also give up adventuring, before it scars her permanently. She's been through too much, already. (Although of course, giving up now would not be any fun for the player!).

Sorry for the insult, it was late and my brain was collapsing. I just have an hard time to understand if Ally is a PC or NPC, I don't understand why you discuss with her instead of thinking "What should I do if I was her", and I can't figure how she can be attractive in a Role play, she's just too pathetic. I can't figure how a group can design an entire party to let it die for the fun of continuing the myth of "Ally the Damned". If it is enough to qualify me as a Jerk, Alrunic, then so be it. :(

In a more constructive point of view, I think this poor Ally should have attracted Beshaba's attention since a very long time. :smirk:

As for the question about Lazero, then why not? She could past the night with him, then realize how foolish she was and return to resurect his dear love... only to realize she is now pregnant from that Lazero. :D

Ally is chaotic good, however her alignment is not what I use to determine how she acts, except for the fact that she tends to be more impulsive.

I love roleplaying Ally because this is the first character that I have really gotten into. It is rather annoying how crappy her luck is, but I think that makes her more interesting. Nothing is ever a cake-walk for her. I would much rather play Ally than a well equipped level 2 rogue.

As for the curse… Trust me, Ally's curse is not something that was decided upon, it literally just kind of happens. The monk almost wasn't killed by the raiders, and if he had done 3 more damage to one of them, he would have survived as the other one would have ran away. The bard... Well, he wanted to bring in a new character, and the tumble juice addiction just sort of helped him. His other character did try to stop him from jumping overboard, though, and failed. As for losing my stuff, I lost it because the monk got killed and I had said that I gave him everything I had, which since we hadn’t been to an inn was everything

It’s all circumstance and is always very subtle. If everything that happened to Ally that could be attributed to her curse was pre-planned, then neither I nor any of the other players know about it, and the DM must be some sort of mastermind to make all the connections needed. Considering how I don’t think even he caught on to the fact that I had lost everything that I owned that night, I seriously doubt that he is orchestrating the campaign against me.

As for me referring to Ally as "what would she do" rather than "what would I do if I were Ally;" it is a conscience decision. I go back and edit what I type to keep it coherent so I don’t switch back and fourth between I did this and Ally did this. I take the third person approach to most things I do involving role playing because it makes it seem more real. It makes Ally seem more like a real person and not just an actor in a game that I play. Sorry I confused you.

As for what she will do concerning Lazero, I think I might know why I want to pursue the ‘affair’ path. Ally is too much of a goodie goodie. She is completely trustworthy, as even when she lies she keeps her word just in a different way than she says. She is always giving money away. She is always helping people out no matter what the consequences. She is always putting others ahead of herself. She’s perfect. I think that having her do something like this would add another dimension to her and open up more paths to deeper character development. Right now she just seems kind of flat.

Of course all of this is based on the assumption that Lazero would reciprocate her feelings, and as we all know about assumptions, they make an ass out of you and me. So in all likelihood I can see this backfiring, which even if it does, would still be interesting to see.

A more interesting thing I will have to tackle in the next session will be catching back up to the party in terms of wealth. Ally really is poor now, with 31.01 gp worth of equipment, not including the golden comb. The other two party members started at level 2 starting gold, which is I think 900gp. Ally is a level 3 rogue that, as I said before, loves to give money away when she doesn’t need it or if someone else does.
