My friend wants to dm a game where every character is some sort of wizard (no sorcerers, warmages or warlocks... straight wizards (not even the variant wizards in UA)). We're allowed to be a specalist wizard if we wish, which is what i believe most of us will do to gain a small amount of class variance in the group.

The character im thinking of playing will be an Air Genasi, Evoker (Forbidden schools are Enchantment and Necromancy) who will later take levels in Elemental Savant (Air).

As you can see, ill be the blaster in the group, but im wanting to have a pretty decent backstory/personality to go with him (our group is big on role playing).

The character himself knows that he is a Air Genasi but he wishes to keep it a secret from everyone else (especially the party... who all think he is just human). For this reason, his outsider traits cant be too overt. Perhaps he has a costant cool breeze about him and his hair is a pale blue (or something)... thats the first point i need help with.

Secondly, he wishes to transcend his mortal form and become an elemental (thus taking the levels in elemental savant). Im thinking that he wishes to do this to gain some form of immortality, though im not sure if elementals are immortal or not:confused:

This is the second part i need help with, i need to think of a way (perhaps though role playing) that my character can gain a sort of immortality. Perhpas as an air elemental, he would have to travel to the elemental plane of air and go to *somewhere* and let some sort of magical winds rejuvinate him... i dont know.

Personality wise, even though he is an evoker, im thinking that he will be more careful and calculating than most. Not wanting to ruin his chances at becomming an immortal.

As you can see its pretty bare at the moment... any ideas to help flesh him out would be great. Background events, quotes he would use (as a lightning specalist)... that sort of stuff.

-As for Air Genasi traits...How about:

Light blue skin
Pale white skin
White hair
Light blue hair
Flesh that is cool to the touch
Musical voice that seems to be heard over non-magical wind
Sudden movement accompanied by a sudden breeze/gust
(Races of Faerūn, pg. 114)

-As far as I believe, Elementals do not die of age. Nowhere has it been written that they do, so we should assume that they don't.

From the opposed schools I can suppose, this char prefer to evade brainwashing or spooking others. "I said them, then warn them, then blast them."
As for PC's look, you can disguise unusual skin or hair as some anomaly ("I'm not usual albino, I'm so rare albino with blue eyes!"). Strange effects can be explained as side effects of educating of nascent sorcerer as normal bookish wizard ("Damn those teachers! They never understood me!").
As variant for behavior: this PC usually don't raise his voice, even when angry. "If I want to be loud, here's my sound burst, if I want to be touchy, here's my shocking grasp :D , if I want to fly, here's my fly (or some ride the wind variation on lower levels)".
As another point: this PC have taste for fine clothes and jewelry (as genie-related species).
Some quotes: "By the endless (eternal) Sky!", "Winds of magic are always on our side", "As my Mum said, if you will pray for wings too often, you will have them. And beak too."

It's not much, but I hope that helps.

This is actually pretty helpfull, i recon ill make it that he has pale blue hair that constantly moves as though it's been blown by the wind (he can hide this by wearing a hood, or tying it into a pony tail)

Secondly, i think ill make it that his eyes are bright blue, with white swirling around them (kinda like clouds drifting through the sky)

If anyone asks about either of these effects, he can just say they are just 'magic' (a broad answer that wouldnt be considered a lie :P)

Sweet! Thanks

-Some quotes: "By the endless (eternal) Sky!".

I like that one :P

Chiers for you help guys.

Finally, the group is at a bit of a loss as to what sort of casters we should include? We've already got the blaster (me) but what other roles/ prc's do you think the others could/should be (there are 4 other players)

-No problemo.

-Hmm...Someone could be the "scholarly" wizard, who has spells such as Legendlore, Identify, Read Magic, Comprehend Language, and so on. There is a pretty neat PrC in the Forgotten Realms sourcebook Magic of Faerūn called the Mage-Killer. Could be useful. Someone could play an Illusionist. Illusions are always fun. Elementalists can be created by taking spells that fit with your particular element, and by taking the feat Energy Substitution, which can be found in Magic of Faerūn. And, the Shadow Adept, from the FRCS, or any user of the Shadow Weave (Again, the FRCS) might vary things a bit.

Depending on which source you're using, genasi may already be immortal.

Check out Master Specialist from Complete Mage. It's got enough cool abilities to differentiate you guys, even if you went into the same prestige class.

Btw I so wouldn't want to have to deal with your group once you get teleport and can enter or leave battles at will. Your DM will have his hands full.

-All you really need is a beholder or two, and they're all screwed.
