| PoisonApple04-03-05, 12:28 AM | hey, I just started d&d a few days ago. My race is a grey elf. My class is a warlock but I am also a ghost. I think that when I level up more in ghost abilities that I'll skip getting rejuvination because it will make me unable to be destroyed. Our DM is letting everyone else start out at level 5 but I'm at level 1 because I'm too powerful to start out. what do you think about my decisions? I want some players opinions. |
| Arkonth04-03-05, 12:44 AM | A ghost warlock is intriguing. What's the backstory behind this character, how did this person die, become a ghost and then a warlock? waht goals and motivations does he have? |
| Need_A_Life04-03-05, 03:29 PM | Not acquainted with the warlock (yet, I'll pick up the book soon), but Ghost characters are always fun. If you ever feel like straying from warlock (don't know how good it is) try a level or two of cleric and take the luck domain (your insurance for making that "save or _stay_ dead"-thingy when you die). But Grey Elf is (while I have used it in psions before) just plain annoying, I am in the camp of having the elf entry be [+2 to one score, -2 to another score] and be done with it. Being a ghost at level 1 seems fun, how'd you die? Why are you still hanging around in the mortal world (DM will probably want to know)? Why have you taken up adventuring after dying? How'd your warlock gain his powers (I read something about ancestry sacrificing innocents in a debate wizard vs. warlock and about fey ancestry in another  ) |
| PoisonApple04-03-05, 05:16 PM | Well I have yet to think about his past but if you have any general ideas that I could work off of feel free to give them. I have a few more questions though. When I level up will I choose which to level up (warlock or ghost) or do they both level up when I do? and also...do you think I should get rejuvinatin when I get to the level that I'm able to learn it? I'm thinking it might be kinda cheap to get it and always come back. |
| Morka04-04-05, 01:45 PM | There is many good (?) reasons to be a ghost: protect someone you love (but who doesn't love you?), get revenge against the one who killed you (or you believe killed you), because you failed in your duty for something... As for the Rejuvenetion, I think it's worth to take it. Any cleric could theorically turn you and get rid of you, so it's good to have a way to come back. |
| Nidair04-04-05, 05:44 PM | So, most ghost return to the 'land of the living' to finish what they could not finish in life. That combines well with the reclusivity of a grey elf. For example, he could be an ex-lorekeeper who retreated to a mansion hidden in a dark swamp, until a group of assassins and mages barged in, killed him and took their chance to seat themselves in the mansion and to study all of the demonic lore. And now he is back to reclaim his old home. As for Rejuvenation, may I remind you that you only have 12 HP at this point? |
| PoisonApple04-04-05, 08:48 PM | I realize I have only 12 hp but I am very hard to hit, has to be a magical weapon, they have to roll a 24 and then after that they have to roll agaian and they have a 50% chance of missing me. |
| Nidair04-05-05, 11:00 AM | For your level, you're quite safe from beatings, indeed. Just try to avoid Magic Missile... |
