Fithero 08-17-06, 02:23 PM	Ive had an idea for a character for a while now, but ive been trying to find a way to put in down into a playable character. Luckly someone (sorry i forget who) came up with a tread that helped me solve the problem.) Also ill apologise for the title, its the only one that seems remotley fitting... its 4 in the morning and im still kinda drunk. Anyway, onto the basic character concept. The idea is that while human, this character lived a vicious life where he murdered and raped the innocent, stole from the poor and was a general *insert F/C combo here*. Anyway, somehow he was shown where he was goin to end up in the afterlife for his deeds (the ones he had already commited... not even including the ones he hadnt done yet)... it was pretty much one of the lower levels of hell. Wanting to change his ways (mainly to avoid hell... but im thinking theres gotta be some other sort of motivation... maybe a lost love) he sought out immortality... though hearing about some planar traveller who had his mortality ripped out and was forced to die over and over again... only to be resurrected each time, he sought out a different answer. He came across an enclave of Elan, and enlisted their aid in his cause, he used the last of his ill gotten gains to inlist their services, by turning him into one of them. In his new life as an elan, the character still has memories of all his past deeds, but now has a fresh start and all eternity to repent. He has taken to his new life with abadon, though is constantly heartbroken by his past life's deeds (mainly becuase he constantly sees their effects, in people and in places). Thats the basic idea of the character, but i need help on a few points- 1)how was he shown where he would end up in the after life? 2)what other motivations were there for him to start over? 3)what class do you think his past life was? Im leaning towards something really evil such as a blackguard or assassian... something that would allow him to ruin *alot* of lives. 4) what class do you think now, i dont want paladin or cleric (hell he probably worshipped an evil god in his past life too :confused: ) but something that would allow him to reach his goal of redemption. Any help here would be great guys, thanks in advance. Peace
PaddyPaddyFool 08-18-06, 01:48 AM	Monastic discipline would seem to be a good way to go towards redemption; don't know if it would work for an Elan, though. And that's "Angel", btw (unless you were making an obscure Sluggy Freelance reference).

Kid_Buu 08-20-06, 07:19 AM	1) Personally i would say either he was contacted by some kind of bizarre daemon, he invisioned it constantly in his sleep or when he fell unconcious or you can go with him bumping into some kind of creepy seer-ess type character, who explains to him that it's time to repent or be cast into the bowels of hell (also leaves it open for her to return from time to time, to fill him with more guilt and help drive him even more insane.(protagonist) :embarrass 2) Well i think saving his own mortal soul from one of the lower levels of hell is already a good reason to change ways :D But seriously the lost love idea could be good, maybe he can't die until he has forgiven his sins and can face his lost love with a pure heart, or maybe the only way he can see her that one more time is to avoid the abyss of hell and try to ascend higher. but i prefer the facing with a pure heart as it could be made very hell-boy-ish you could have him following her, watching her, ever wanting but unable to even get close to her. 3) I'm new to the game so i'm not big on classes yet but i think some kind of assassin would be fine, or possibly some kind of barbarian/knight. 4) Again not big on classes but i would have thought a cleric would have been good, also anyone can seek redemption.... not just the holy men/women :D Don't know if any of that helped or made sense but woot! woot! Glad you're using the idea of angel though, was a good show, and a great concept. :eek:
Hennet 08-20-06, 08:12 AM	Hi, I have watched EVERY eposide of Buffy, and Angel at least 4-5 times and I have though about the same thing before and have come up with nothing good enough to represent Angel. Everything I just come up with seems to cheapen the whole concept, so I just gave up. If you want to play a character like Angel, may I suggest playing the Buffy The Vampire roleplaying game. I have never played the game myself, and I don't even know if players can play the characters from the show (Buffy, Giles, Willow, Xander etc.....), but I imagine the Buffy The Vampire Slayer roleplaying game is about the only game that has vampires portrayed the same way as the Buffy and Angel shows. IF YOU DO COME UP WITH A DND STYLE CHARACTER THAT FITS ANGEL, PLEASE POST IT ON THIS THREAD SO I CAN SEE IT. I AM A FAN OF BOTH BUFFY AND ANGEL. Hennet
Fithero 08-20-06, 08:15 AM	chiers man, that helps heeps. I recon ill go with this- his childhood (before he was evil) love has died and her death brings about the initial change of outlook. He looks in on her, sees that shes in heaven, then wishes to be with her, sees that hes goin straaaaaaaaaigh down to hell. He wants to be with her but knows that he has to change who he is to be with her (first to get there... second, she aint gonna love an evil bastard is she?) So thats the basic idea behind the becommin an elan, he wants the time to repent. (ps: ill work in the idea of the seer-ess in there too) Chiers Peace
