Okay. In a mostly RP-focused game I'm entering, there is the DM and two PCs--myself and my friend--who will participate. Our characters were developed seperately, but we got a rather amusing result: She is a half fiend bard, I am a half celestial fighter. She's Chaotic Neutral, though she has a tendancy to slip into Chaotic Evil at times. I normally would find it weird, but she has basically figured herself to explain it by "occasionally succumbing to her own feminine wiles and yearnings as a half-succubus". Fits the character well enough to let slide. My character is Chaotic Good, and is essentially your cliche "He who follows his own heart" type. Not so much an active opponent to the law as one who disregards it to do the right thing, he is a warrior who will progress to be a weapon master of the elven courtblade.

Now, the thing I wanted to do to make my character unique is that not only does he practice the mastery of the elven courtblade, but his wings have been removed from his body completely. I wasn't entirely sure, however, how to make this work.

And thus, why I come to you all for help. Can anyone think of why a half celestial might have had its wings removed prior to a career as an adventurer, that might give me a reason to be travelling in the first place?

You mean besides the classic "was experimented on by an evil wizard" I assume?:P

This one will have the half-demon player rolling in the aisles.:D

When you were born in a village of uneducated farmers you were born apparently human save the angelic wings. Unfortunately not all humans associate feathered wings with angels and your parents thought you were some sort of monster (mom never revealed who your real father was and let everyone think this). As a result shortly after your birth your father took you into the back of the barn and used a hot knife to sever those wings from your body trying to hide your "monstrous deformity". For the first 15 years of your life you thought you were a normal human until a villlage priest saw the scars and had the wings dug up... revealing you a child of the angels.

You know.. that was pretty much the same suggestion I was going to make... Villagers mistaking you for some sort of maybe even a bird monster type of things. But Terjon beat me to the punch so yeah... I think that would be amusing to play... especially if the fiend slips into more frequently than not.

Trust me, Malinda has the intention of making her half fiend screw pretty much anything that will in the long or short term advance her career or get him out of trouble if she gets the chance.
