In an upcoming campiagn, I want to play a NE cleric of Nerull. I want him to be memorable, funny, and cool. I am looking to the boards for some creative advice on how to make the character unique. Oh yeah, he's evil, but I want him to be able to work in a mostly nuetral party.

NE Cleric of Nerull, Thulsa Doom (I am a big fan of Arnold's older movies; the ones in the 80's and 90's). *He looks nothing like James Earl Jones, however*

I would like him to be an undead specialist of some sort, but I'm open to suggestions.

First of all, give him a Swiss accent.

Next, since he has such a high charisma and wisdom, why not make him a nice, friendly guy? I mean sure, he defiles the dead and feasts on souls, but that doesn't mean he reclusive and hostile. He gets along with others, is a good listener, is helpful towards strangers, and kills without provocation. I can see a pesonality akin to Louie from Mahou Senshi Riui or Torg from Sluggy Freelance, just with overwhelming evil laid over it.

I love the concept of this character.

How to make him really memoriable with a hint of humor, eh? Well, firstly, I hope your good at voices because having a intresting voice when speaking for your character is a great way to make people remember your character. Even if they forget your characters name and class, as long as the voice is unique, you can use that to make people recall what he is.

Swedish might be good, but I am also thinking of a more sly, even toned voice. The kind that makes you think "manipulator", but washes away that image when he strikes his first pun. Make him talk over his hands, with his fingers touching. Make him talk with a lowered brow. Make it seem that he is almost forcing himself to act dark and mysterious. To your character, the whole dark and scary image is just a gag to gets people to jump to conclusions. Your characters true personality would be woven up in a web of fabricated emotions and what not that his true motives and persona would be impossible to figure out. And since it's all just an act, it wouldn't make him chaotic.

Hah, great responses thus far.

I like the idea of being a very "nice guy". There was an NPC in a campaign I played in named Darkwing Duck (long story, he was nuts!). He was super nice and friendly to us, but when he shows us into his home, it was covered with human skins and skulls and all sorts of macabre stuff! Gross, but we'll never forget him. I don't think I'll measure that high on the sadism scale.

I also like the idea of being overlly diabolical, to the point of humor. I picture the other PCs asking my character's name...

PC1: "So, we're in need of a someone who can deal with the undead, and from the looks of your clothes and unholy symbols, you look like the man for the job. So, what'ya say?"

Thulsa: *5 seconds of quiet, then big evil grin on Thulsa's face as he jumps up on the nearest rock or box* "Take heed adventurers, for you have inlisted THULSA DOOOOOM! Practitioner of Peril! Weilder of Woe! Director of the Dead! Sleep lightly on this night and all others, for DEATH HIMSELF sleeps not but an arm's reach from your soul!" *Silence...steps back down, acts normal*

I'm pretty good at voices, I'll probably voice him like Makaris suggested.

Keep the ideas comin' =)

*edit* Oh yeah, if you can think of any entertaining uses of spells that'd fit the character, I'm open to ideas.

He could raise up dead chipmonks as skeletons and order them to go attack other chipmonks.

Or, if he has an ememy, he could kill a bunch of birds, raise their bones, and have them flock around him. Give one a magic mouth and have it taunt him. Wait... they couldn't fly as skeletons, could they. Well, just go back to the chipmonks swarming him, then.
