| Mist of Shadows02-21-06, 10:51 PM | I'm trying to figure out if a non elf could take a level of bladesinger if they were in the form of an elf while they resqued a elven blade singer. And spend a great deal of time with them learning sword fighting and magic. From a character development stand point could you see an elf teaching his craft to some one that they greatly respected and could move like an elf but knew wasn't an elf. Or thought they were an elf. I'm trying to get people's thoughts on how possible it is for a non elf non half elf to learn the style. (for the record a fey touched human that looks elf like.) |

However, looking at the bladesinger class, there's nothing crunchy there in the abilities that suggest being elf-only, just the requirement to get in in the first place. If you're ignoring the silly RAW racial prerequisite, there doesn't seem to be any valid reason another race couldn't do this. From a fluff POV, if a character is trusted enough by the elves to be taken in and trained by them, I see no reason he shouldn't be able to get more specialized training to become a bladesinger. |

You could RP wise either have another style to similar effect (even negotiate a different weapon if you wished) or, if your DM wants, claim a cult that captured the secret and teaches it to non-elves while elves attempt to track them down and find the man who tortured and killed the great bladesinger... |

| Che02-23-06, 10:08 AM | The Eberron Campaign Setting has stated (in PGtE) that there is a goblinoid Bladesinging tradition... depends on setting and GM really. There isn't any reason that it has to be elven. |
