I've made up a sheet for a halfling rogue.. he's really depressing.. and i haven't made up a backround story for him yet. Anyone wanna throw out any original Ideas for me? I don't want to use a Normal my-parents-died-and-i'm-sad story.

Oh yeah, and he's got 2 weapon fighting and 2 shortswords if anyone needs to know.

Now, I'm not sure if you meant your halfling is depressing or depressed, but my guess is for the second option.

You don't need any particular reason to be depressed. Some people are chronically depressed, they just can't be happy without those pills! (By the way, wouldn't it be funny, if your character was depending on some kind of magic pills, and his mood would change drastically when he would take his medication?)

If you insist on a reason, you can have a general reason: he never had it easy. He always was poor, on a land distrusful or disdainful of halflings, women either shun him or his heart was broken... Think that one-time Simpsons character, Frank "Grimey" Grimes.

Or it could be specific, as in "he wanted to be a wizard but failed the tests (or the magic school didn't teach to halflings)", or "I'm in love with my best friend's wife", or "I am personnaly responsible for my father/brother/lover's death and will never forgive myself", etc...

Hope it helps.

He could be depressed because he wasn't tall enough to be a basketball star....nevermind

There is also the possibility that he was banished from the place where he was born and raised and is just terribly homesick.
