| Count_Chumleigh04-19-07, 06:06 PM | So my group, growing tired of typical adventuring parties—as if there were such a thing—has decided to start a new campaign with a twist: our characters will be a literal band of heroes, and will tour the countryside in search of gold, groupies, and grimoires. Thing is, I don’t want to be a bard. We’ve already got two of them—an evangelist of the Silver Flame and a self-loathing half-orc bassist—and both players are going to have to take extreme care not to step on each other’s toes. So would any of you care to brainstorm with me about non-bard character types that could be in a travelling band of heroes? I’m not looking for builds here, naturally, just ideas. Any thoughts at all would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, --Count Chumleigh P.S. I feel I should also mention that this is a somewhat large group—about seven people in all—playing an Eberron game. Non-evil alignments are preferred, but we have a standing rule that, so long as your character is a team player and doesn’t require any books the DM has not had the chance to peruse a physical copy of, it’s allowed. |

| Ensjak04-19-07, 11:07 PM | Have a barbarian that goes all Emo and whiny everytime he rages. |
| SpoonyBard04-19-07, 11:19 PM | Sorcerer or Wizard Illusionist. You can pull a LOT of special effects off. |
| trickydevl66604-19-07, 11:55 PM | Maybe even an artificer for the technician. Maybe even other characters for like the face of a party... And when I read the first couple of sentences of your post I couldn't help but think of Josie and the Pussycats. |
| Terjon of the Blue Rose04-20-07, 01:25 AM | Dervish. Get to it any way you want there is nothing like a fan-dancer who uses scimitar instead of fans. Especially if you have a gypsie style band. you may need to play a female to get the most out of this one but not necessarilly. Alternatively a sorcerer/fire-eater works nicely for side entertainment. |
| Lanoitakude04-20-07, 01:25 AM | I agree with those who suggest an Illusionist. You guys will need special effects, big time! Also consider being a Skald, a warrior-poet, possibly barbarian. Be a big, burly Norse-man! You guys will need healing, so consider being a cleric of some fun diety. You could go for some straight-up fighter build and be the band's body guard! |
| Daxen04-20-07, 06:50 PM | Just for the flavor of it. Favoured Soul of the Traveler: Vocals or whatever else you feel like. Cleric of Kord/Barbarian: Drummer That is all I can think of right now |
| JulesCARV04-21-07, 02:30 PM | Greensinger druid! |
| haelduksf04-21-07, 06:26 PM | There is a precedent for a lead singer/summoner... Nathan Explosion of Dethklok summoned a troll once... |
