one of my characters recently died

there was the tunnel of light and the sight of my ancestors at the other side

fortunately i found a back door before the end of the journey thanks to some dm plots and here i am back

at the begining my character refused to believe he had died thinking he had merely fallen due to the damage (it wasnt the first time)

but now that the idea is setting in that he was indeed dead i think he cant just be the same anymore

im asking for advice on how to roleplay this new side of the characater

maybe be overly cautios fearing death has an eye on him?
or perhaps a god syndrome of im inmortal until proven otherwise :)

besides this what interesting quirks can you think off for someone just recently brought back from the dead

This is similar to a time when I was DMing. A character, a cleric to be specific had died, but before the end of the round, recieved a healing spell, and thereby was saved.

I described to the cleric's player that his character approached the gates of the Otherworld, but instead of opening the gates for him, Telak, The Gatekeeper, instead told him that it was not his time. Then he woke up.

After that, the Cleric changed his sect. Though he remained part of the same Religion, worshipping Kylia, the Mother Goddess, he joined the Cult of Telak, which followed the teachings of Telak while still worshipping Kylia.

Thus, a change in faith prehaps? Maybe from now on he'll worship a god of death, or prehaps birth, as he was "reborn" from his death

There are several approaches one can take here.

The absent-mindedness: have the character start babbling with no provokation:

PC: "the tunnel... yes... the tunnel... the light, I... I can reach it... there is no place for me here... yet... not yet..."
Other PC: "Hey, what are you talking about?"
PC: "Huh? What? Was I talking? I didn't say anything."

The next approach is the nonchalant (sp?): make the PC brush it off as if it was nothing. Or even if it was cool.

PC: "Yeah, I went and had a beer with Death once. He was a interesting guy, but I found him a bit morbid."

Other ideas are to make the PC ultra-fearful/cautious. Or perhaps prophetic.

I hope these help... best of luck with it.

The one obsessed with death: as he delivers the final blow to some opponent, he keeps asking him: "What do you see? What do you see?"

Ooo... nice suggestion, Morka. I really like that.

that is indeed interesting

maybe refuse to kill inteligent creatures?

or perhaps perform funeral rites so theyll join their ancestors

My PC recently died, he was about to become a Skum (aboleth thrall/fishman), so I summoned a vampire and I used Command Undead to have him bite me (and thus make me a vamp). The DM then told what happens in the afterlife (I don't remember it well, but everyone had a candle except for me, and they all went to Hades to await judgement, but I went back to Pandemonium, hwere I had died). I'm not sure how I should change my personality after this, perhaps I should be casual about death (char was an NG grey elf), and perhaps a bit more calous towards the living (DM made me become TN).

Some good suggestions here.
Morka's idea is great.
There's many different ways to play a back-from-the-dead adventurers, but having a big change happen is a pretty good idea. This isn't some casual thing, coming back from the dead, this is about as lifeshaking as events go.
