Background for Gold dwarf pal/sor? [Archive] - Wizards Community

01-31-04, 02:26 PM I'm planning for this character: A female ( a contrast to most adventuring dwarves) Gold dwarf starting out as a paladin of Gorm Gulathyn? The only sure thing is that she is going to be a sorceress at lvl 4, how does that change her? She is a Thunder Twin!
Any backgrond ideas? such as place of birth, family, traditions, etc? All sugestions appreciated ;)

02-01-04, 03:48 AM Throw a bunch of wizards in her family tree, make her father a renowned paladin and make her the black sheep of the family. She's constantly trying to prove her worth to her family, herself, and her god.

[EDIT: Actually, can gold dwarves be wizards? Ah, well. Make them sorcerors or even clerics if you must. I always liked the idea of sorcerors and wizards each thinking the other inferior.]

02-29-04, 10:23 PM First of All I would like to say that i am proficieient in the use of lemons.

I don't think she would technically need to have sorcerers in her family one learns alot on the open road. One learns a lot on the open road and she can develope a fondness for magic while traveling.

As for the paladin part you could have had her entire clan been destroyed by something really evil and her being the only remaining member try to avenge them. However you know at this time you are bereft of allies and fighting skills. You become an adventurer to find power to oppose your family. (this would make way for an awsome side quest if your dm permits) This may also be the force that leads her to sorcery as the ultimate way of punishing those who have so wronged her.

03-26-04, 10:12 AM Most gold dwarfs have some kind of connection to the great rift, but not all of them. This you could use maybe - you could have grown up far away from the rift, and the people who brought you up are not your parents. You've always wondered what this "feeling" you have to journey in a certain direction is about, and recently you learned why : your thunder twin is at NNNN.

Now you seek your twin, and whatever happens on that road....
