I have a fairly interesting background for my character in Farun, but I'm wondering if anyone could suggest anything that I could add, or change. Here's what I've got so far.

She was born in Evermeet, but she was born Half-elven. Her mother was the daughter of a lesser noble in the elven court, so the scandel was known. Her mother was shunned by her family and almost ran away in shame, but for the sake of the young child, she stayed. Her mother thought the father had to be human, so she gave the child a dual name, Virginia Gwydale. Eventually, the girl chose to be called Gwynne, wishing to stay as close to her elven heritage as possible.

Her mother eventually married another elf from the island, and she gained two younger half-sisters and a half-brother. Though she was about five years their senior, they all looked down on Gwynne. She grew faster than all the children there, and while many her age were just being introduced to the court, she was aching to roam, as far away as possible. She finally got her chance and made her way to the mainland (note: not sure how she gets there)

When she made it to land again, she spent some time wandering the woods looking for nothing in particular. She honned her skills with a bow and longsword and became a skilled ranger. In her wandering, she befriended a brown bear she named Kanrod. She met up with a company of adventuring women who called themselves "The Farflight Crew". Their leader was an Aasimar Cleric of The Red Knight. Gwynne joined as the youngest of that crew and Vircantha (the Aasimar) quickly took her under her wing. She stayed with them for a few years until the group split up. Many of them wanted to settle down, some wished to go back to their homes, but Gwynne was still young and needed to wander. Eventually she ended up in Silerymoon (which is where the campaign picked up)

I have no clue who her father is. My DM said he also had no clue. She looks like any other average Half-elf, except they normally have green eyes, and her's are ice blue. Her mother remembers the man as being fully elven. No one has seen him since then. Any suggestions?

For how she made her way to the mainland, perhaps did she share a boat with a crew of yound elves who were returning to there to rebuild an ancient elven kingdom? She was either there to help them but left them soon, either only a passenger, or even a stowaway.

As for the father, I see two possibilities: either a human sorceror using polymorph self to look like an elf, either an half-elf who happen to look more like an elf than a human. Or a mix of both: an half-elf sorceror using alter self.

Did your character's mother left you any clue as where she was conceived? If yes, you might have wanted to explore this area first.

What is her deity? It could help to complete a background to know that, especially for a cleric. ;)

Whoops, I guess I forgot to talk about her cleric side. She's a cleric of the Red Knight, and she has a suit of red banded mithril mail given to her by her former crew leader. She developed her cleric powers suddenly after a large battle where many were hurt (I am using the "evangelist" cleric variant from one of the "Dragon" magazines, a spontaneous divine caster.) Her domains are Planning and War. She has yet to be initiated by the head preist because of being taken away by a group of four unknown gods (along with the rest of the part). ...Then it starts to get even more into the campaign, which is getting quite strange.

I just remembered antother thing. She always seems to get shifted to some other plane of existance every few meetings. She's almost had her soul drained away, she's gone through parts of Nirvana, she's been taken to an alternate reality, helped save the world over there and then come back and nothing's changed, and we've been through a castle in Hell. And a few other things as well. After we have to have our PCs explain things that have happend to us to NPCs, our DM usually has them make some sort of comment on our strange misfortune to have no control over where we shift to.

Since my DM is having our characters help save all of Farun, I don't think he'll just have her father be a half elf or human. He has this huge storyline set out for us. It's a fairly high-level campaign at the moment (we're level 15), and soon to go epic. Considering that we also have a major munchkin/powergamer in the party (he convieniently "lost" his character sheet over vacation and "can't remmber" the stats or anything, so he wants to go from a human fighter to a dragon as a PC...), anything could happen. She was concieved on Evermeet at a time when no one but elves were on the island. Her family didn't talk too much about "the incident", and no one knows too much more than what I've written.

I don't think I put her alignment down. She's LG (started out NG when younger and gradually switched over while with the Farflight Crew). The current party consists of her, a Half-elven Bard/Druid (NG), a Drow Fighter (CN), a Tiefling Sorcerer (N), and another party member who's character is in limbo. Her favored enemies are Evil outsiders and Undead. I had to stretch a bit to find a reason for her character to stay with the party, but I think what I settled on works. She's decided to stay so she can study the ways of some of the less evil of the evil races. She keeps an eye on both the Drow and the Tiefling, and has on more than one occasion beaten both of them in sparring contests (^_^ those were fun!).

Her animal companion has since been awakened and is traveling with the party. He has an Intelligence higher than the Sorcerer. She has crafted a spell similar to "Speak With Animals", except it allows animals to speak to anyone in an audible voice. It only works if they know a language like Common, for example. She hasn't yet called another animal companion.

I've probably forgotten some other things, but that's about it for now.

Ok... so you are an half-elf, born and conceived on Evermeet...

Your father shouldn't be too special, cause there is a large difference between an half human/half elf and an half celestial/half elf... Perhaps a planar human? He could be some proxy of some god (perhaps the Red Knight, but could be fun if it is another god...). But if he choose your mother to bear you, she should have something special herself. Or perhaps the proxy was dying, and your mother happened to be there, the only female humanoïd in some miles around. And the proxy was needing some heir to complete a very long-term mission. Did your father survive after meeting your mother? Only the DM knows!

Ooo, that sounds nice! I'll have to mention that to my DM. We had this little joke going in the campaign about her origins:

DM: You see a giant fissure in the ground open up. Hellfire sears your skin. A great demon lord rises out of the crack...

Gwynne: Daddy?

A little strange, but that was an intersting encounter. ^_^
