Lunar Shadow was only a young child when his village was attacked by a horde orcs. Luckily for him, Lunar’s parents ran off into the forest in a last ditch effort to save there son. Unfortunately there effort was in vain, for they were killed by a couple of orcs that stumbled upon them. The orcs were just about to kill Lunar when a Gold dragon dropped out of the sky and killed the two orcs. The dragon saw Lunar and picked up gently and flew him back to her cave in the mountains. There he was raised alongside a halfling named Solar Shadow. For the next several years he and his foster family lived happily. He finally left the cave he grew up in and went to find the elves so he could learn about his heritage. After years of searching he found them and learned the magic of the Elvin wizards. He trained for two years and set out into the world to seek power and glory with his brother and two other adventurers in a small town. Lunar tends to show off his magic ability, usually ending badly. Because of the murder of his parents, Lunar has an extreme hatred of orcs. Lunar will do anything he can to get what he wants, though he will usully make things right afterwards. (IE: Stealing a sword when he couldn't afford it, than after finding enough money, paying the shop keeper back

I need some help fleshing this out a little bit.

Well, because he was raised by a Dragon, I would say he would be usually using fire spells, or whatever type of breath weapon a Gold Dragon has. That back story is really.... strange.

Honestly, the background is rather weak and bereft with cliches. No offense, but it sounds as if it was written by a very yound person.

Cliche bits:

- Evil monsters (orks) killed parents/village etc.
- Therefore, hatred for (orks)
- Taken in by a good dragon, raised and trained.

This just raises serious questions. Why would such a powerful being as a dragon take him in (or this halfling fellow)? What is your character's relationship to the dragon, and to the halfling? If the background is accurate and he spent pretty much all his life in the company of a highly magical creature and a strange halfling, how did he manage to interact with people in the real world when he finally left the cave, survive in a city, understand the value of money, etc. Why did he leave and not come back? On what terms did he leave? Plainly, this is weak stuff.

On the other hand: the idea to (let me paraphrase) act in a chaotic way and make ammends later has potential. This can make for an intersting character quirk and offer some roleplaying opportunities. Also, the "I take what I want" goes pretty well with the secluded upbringing, IMHO.

Overall, there's little substance to the background. What are the character's main motivations (besides the stereotypical hatred of orcs), what are his goals, personality traits? I hope you don't expect the dragon to show up in any of your games. However, the halfling could be a neat plot hook for the DM. What became of him?

The halfling is the rouge and he is my charachters step-brother, his name is Solar Shadow. Char's motivation is power and glory
