I was asked to join another campaign. This one bi-monthly. (Four campaigns in all. Oi...) In this one, the feeling is very similar to Thief: The Dark Project. With that in mind, I chose to start out as a human rogue (they are the only race allowed) and then add psion (nomad) levels before finally graduating to a "Psionic Trickster" PrC, the psionic version of the DMG's Arcane Trickster.

The problem that I am having is that the world is very low magic. There are spellcasters and most of them are arcane, but they are extremely rare. I was allowed to play the "magic" user of our group because I choose mainly utilitarian powers and I'm more interested in roleplaying than power-gaming. However, since I'm psionic while the rest of the world is arcane, I don't know how the world would treat him and I have even less of any idea about how he would have reacted to his powers in a world where such abilities are so rare.

Any idea would be helpful. Thanks.

the first question when dealing with psionics is:

Are Psionics Different?

by default, the "psionics are different" rule is OFF.
which is to say, by default, psionics are the same as magic for purposes of effects, intermingling, dispelling, etc. Psionics, when it comes down to it, is just a substitute magic system.

the answer to your question is really up to the DM; we don't know enough about your campaign world to authoritatively tell you anything, but i think the first step is in finding out if it is interoperable with magic. if PAD, then you'll be even "odder" than you might otherwise have been.
