hey guys, i saw that this was the character development board so i thught i could ask something baout my new character. I used the book called Savage Species to make my character Barr-Find whom is a barbed devil (in this book they have all kind of monsters worked out as classes and when you have attained all the levels you are counted as a matured individual of that race but somewhat more powerful).

S i made my barbed devil and then came upon this problem; we do a lot of roleplaying in our party (my DM said that this character was allright) and i don't what my barbed devil looks upon this world. What can he do and what can't he do as he is lawful evil????? Can i for instance try to infiltrate in the government and start a smuggling organisation or is this totally out of question??? (We are currently playing in the world of Eberron and iw as thinking of setting up a smuggling organisation in Fairhaven the capital of Aundair :D )

Pleaz give some comments???

One of the things you may need to consider is how your character fits in with the rest of the party and will your smuggling operation be a help or a hinderance when it comes to the Dm trying to get the game flowing.

The primary concern is how is it that a barbed devil came to be part of an adventuring group. What is it that stops every paladin and good aligned character and npc trying to split you in two. Are you of good alignment or is the party evil? Why is it you are on the prime material plane and not in the hells or wherever you where spawned?

I think that once you have answered those questions you will be better able to answer the questions you have posed yourself.

Hey harrow blade,
to answer your questions on my barbed devil; he was and is evil (lawful evil to be exactly) as he is a devil and shall always remain this way. Our party is not really evil but all cling to chaotic neutral of neutral evil (in the case of my shifter partymember who is also an assassin). To make a somewhat short summary of my characters background see this.

Barr-Find was originally in service of Asmodeus (the biggest lord of hell) as a full-time spark hunter (mortal hunter) but during the reckoning he was disposed of and sold to a wizard whom shut him up in a glass flask of some kind. He was disposed of as he had to many interest in other power sources (he learned additional powers like possessing people from demon captives he tortured; stealing spell-books from other outsiders and so on) he also showed a too big interest in the divine and regularly prayed to a god of mental corruption and manipulation. After many years he was freed during an expedition of the wizard in Xendrik and joined some Yuan-Ti wh augmentede him with some of their powers.

He now is on the material plane and can't get away.

So my question is; as my character is LAWFUL EVIL what will he do and what doesn't he do; as he keeps traditions and standards up????

As to lawful evil they tend to prefer order over chaos, having a plan is always a good thing even if it is get up in the morning, torture innocents, have lunch, plan the downfall of a good church etc.
if you make an agreement you will keep it because that is how you want others to interact with you. Nothing like having some one betray your evil plan to the goodie good paladins to put a downer on your day.

I've always imagined devils as the disgustingly evil lawyers (sort of redundant, I know) of the outsider world. Savage, but held back by a thin veneer of civility only applicable to those above them, they work to corrupt and subvert all that is good, seeking loopholes in the system and breaking the law while never seeming to.
