| Pimpadillio06-29-07, 11:08 AM | I'm starting to plan the next campaign that I am going to run and the theme this time is the ressurection of a demonic deity. the BBEG will be as following: barb1/warlock7/urpriest2/ Eldritch Disciple1-10(he will get stronger between the times the PCs meet him it will be a solid campaign thru and thru so I intend to make an extensive background for the BBEG so that the PCs can piece the history of him together with the bits and pieces I will give them as they travel along. the idea behind the guy is that he was son of a chieftain. He was frail by his fathers standards and therefore scorned, so he left at the age of 15 filled with hatred for his family. After wandering the wastes he started to hear a voice in his head, at first he thought it was his mind playing tricks with him but he soon realised he was actually hearing the voice, he had infact stumbled upon the site at which a deity of the olden days had been cast down from godhood and was now trapped in the nine hells of baator as an archdaemon. the place was now the only connection he had with the material plane. As all daemons he knew the soft spot in men, and it was power(dun dun dun), so he gifted the man with eldritch power(actually he had orchestrated this moment for over a millenia so the boys already had fiendish blood in his veins. with his newfound power he could return to the tribe and challenge his father for the right of rulership in the traditional ring( a cermonial unarmed 1on1 fight ) where he slaughtered his father with an eldritch blast. after being pronounced ruler he had the village moved to the site of the ex-deity, where one after one of the villagefolk succumbed to the temptation of the daemon... the daemon later taught him how to siphon power from the other god to increase his already considerable powers.(not final wording ;P ) the BBEGs drive is to return the daemon to godhood, or rather, become the gods vessel. the players will/can with enough research learn that the daemon almost succeded with the same plan some millenia ago but failed because of hero, and that the story of his sacrifice has been diluded into a childrens tale(will write a short tale and have as a part of the introduction to the campaign, to set players guessing at what the heck is goin' on...) I will flesh it out considerably later, it will be like 1-3 pages long, the guys has been running around in the world quite extensively so there is alot for the players to find out^^ So... do you guys like the concept? you are welcome to add things, I have alot of writing and planning to do so I would really appreciate the help^^ I'm planning to start the campaign in the late fall and it will end in the spring, so it will be quite extensive... anyways, just wanted to shrare my ideas^^ |

| Pimpadillio07-02-07, 08:53 AM | yeah, I was thinking somethng in the lines of that, but I have got to make a reasonable explanation why the gods can't impale him with a lightning bolt made of cold steel launched from the heavens, and no: he made his reflex save won't cut it... |
| warwinner07-02-07, 09:09 AM | He might have the backing and assistance [atleast indirect] of powerful demon lords overjoyed at another member in their ranks and the "tipping of the balance" no matter how slightly of good and evil |
| MattBlacke07-03-07, 11:33 PM | The Gods might also be unable to intervene because they're already engaged elsewhere. Heck, might make an interesting conundrum to hang the cleric character on. |
| vardock07-04-07, 12:22 PM | This build will not work. Ur-priests cannot have deities. Eldritch Disciple Must follow a diety. take out the level of barbarian, It stunts your spell casting and other advancement, and trade in ur-priest for cleric. |

Eldritch Disciple Must follow a diety. take out the level of barbarian, It stunts your spell casting and other advancement, and trade in ur-priest for cleric. Tell that to the example character, I think that's enough proof for RAI. |
