| Jerichomage10-06-06, 07:42 AM | I play a blue dragon-wrought kobold in a campaign. I have decieded to go with the dragon aspects for character developement. I am currently a 7th lvl. chaotic good mage. I have left my people and most of their ways behind. As a good character I was unable to function in an evil society. I also did not like being the slave of a dragon. ( I made my character after reading the Races of Dragon book) My old clan of kobolds mined the desert for a blue dragon that they worshipped like a god. In return he protected us from our enemies above ground. I left to pursue my destiny elsewhere. I came up with the idea of mining the Trollmoors long before this character. And I always wanted to rescue Nesme from the troll armies that lives in the Trollmoors. So I incoporated both ideas into one. I also was looking in the gods books and the Silver Marshes book and found that Waukeen had a temple in Nesme, with a portal that linked to Silverymoon. So I took Waukeen as my main god and Shaundakul as my secondary god, since he is the god of miners and discovering new places. I then deceided to build an Undercity like the ones the dwarves have in the north. Human on top dwarf on bottom. Of course mine would be human on top and kobold on bottom. Since my people prefer underground anyway. I wanted to start my own mining company full of kobolds ( I will be taking the Leadership Feat at around 10th lvl. so I will be able to attract all the kobolds I need) I figure I can use the group of adventures I travel with to help me clear the moors for mining or as muscle to protect the miners. Right now our group is called the " Dragons Of Nesme". This is the name I came up with for the orginization I want to start. Sorta like the Harpers but we only work for the betterment of Nesme. Most of the guys in my group really don't care what we call our selves as we usually don't give our group names. I am also the face man for our group because I have the best charisma ( 14 ) and the best Diplomacy ( with the right spells I have I can get my skill up to around +19, for a 7th lvl. mage thats not bad!). So now I am trying to figure out the best way to clear the Trollmoors of all the monsters, turn the moors into a forrest so we don't have to deal with a giant swamp and instead have the resources of an forrest near us, build and Undercity, become and Archmage, save Nesme and turn it into a major city like Silverymoon or Waterdeep, create a Mythal around it to protect it forever ( or at least a 1,000 years) from its enemies, become epic lvl to make the mythal, turn my people away from worshipping our only evil kobold god and to worshipping Waukeen and Shaundakul and to become a good race not an evil one, and lastly to turn myself into a gold dragon. ( I have figured out a way already and am in the process of doing this, Arms and Equipment Guide has a Phlyactery that lets you polymorph for the whole day, but into only one form but you can change back between your normal form and the new one all you want. Its is 11,200 gold. I now the math they used. Its caster level is 7th, the spell Polymorph is 4th. 7x4x2,000=56,000 gold. Minus 80% for only getting to turn into one form per day and being stuck with it brings it to 11,200 gold. I will use the same formula but will use the spell Draconic Polymorph 5th lvl. It allows up to 20HD monsters gives +8 to strength and +2 to Constitution of the new form but other wise acts like Polymorph. So for me it would cost for the form of a 17HD gold dragon, 17x5x2x2,000= 340,000 gold! (the extra x2 is because Arms & equipment was 3.0, and I had to upgrade to 3.5)Then subtract the 80% for only getting one form per day from the item just like in the book 340,000-80%=68,000 gold! nice discount! But wait theresmore! In the campaign we play in the DM allows the discounts in the DMG for restricting magic item use for class and skill. If you use all the restictions he says you can get 47.5% off the normal price. So 68,000-47.5%=35,700 gold! We just about are done with playing the Temple of Elemental Evil quest we were on and I should have the gold for the item.) So all in all these are my ideas. If anyone has any helpfull hints I would welcome them. Feel free to comment on anything I have wrote, thanks for your advise.:D |
| Fithero10-06-06, 08:24 AM | first bit of advice... use more paragraphs.... that second block of text was killer :weep: As for the character idea, i like it. I have an orc paladin thats trying to get orcs to be good and not evil, and he figures the best way to do that is to give them a good god. Him :P As for your characters goals, they seem pretty solid. but why only humans on top and kobolds under? if you are gonna make a new society where kobolds are considered equal, shouldnt you make it a 100% intergrated society? And what about gnomes? Since they are a racial enemy of kobolds, what are your plans for them? Will you try and make peace with the church of glittergold (or whatever the Faerun god of gnomes is)? As for the whole magic item to turn into a dragon, id steer clear of that, temporary magics (especially ones that arnt your own innate abilities) are not a solid groundwork to base an organisation on. Hopes this helps some. Peace |
| Jerichomage10-06-06, 08:50 AM | Sorry about the paragraphs, tried to edit but the computer wouldn't allow it. The reason I said humans on top is because Nesme is mainly humans. As far as the gnomes go, my character doesn't have the racial hatred of them and treats them like eveyone else, though I know gnomes would rathter see me dead. This is just another obsticale my people need to get past. I actually want to do something to show the gnomes I want peace and am thinking of doing something for their god to prove it. As far as me magically turning into a dragon this is just my characters way of expressing his inner self and I will not be trying to fool anyone that I am indeed a true dragon. I plan to make it known that I am a kobold mage and this is my way of expressing my self. Thanks for the advise. |
