Come on, dude... bring us at least a couple ideas! Asking for a complete background is just waaaaaay too vague!

I'll give only one suggestion... make his previous profession - prior to becoming an assassin - something completely different, like, for instance, a priest, clerk or maybe a paladin's squire. Maybe he had children... now, maybe his sons or daughters are grown ups, but he sometimes think of them as if they were still kids... and maybe his memories haunt him like a dream, that brings stabs of pain to his conscience, even though he's being a vampire for quite some time now. The sort of stuff that brings a gray area to a completely evil or do-gooder character adds a lot of depth.

Before being a vampire, he could have been a good ranger, perhaps a typical elven archer. Perhaps did he start to change before becoming a vampire? Perhaps his lover was somewhat slain, and completely depressed, he past a week to drink bad wine in the lower wards taverns. Until a strange hooker made him an offer he couldn't refuse. Once he became a vampire, he used his new powers to avenge his lover. When his lover's murderer has been slain, he realised he wanted to kill again... and once again... and he was unable to stop...

This is what I have so far, it ends with him searching to train as an assassin... I just need help with him becoming a vampire ~_~

Personality:

Vendarith seems somewhat quiet, but not shy. His expressions show a confidence of himself. His eyes scan his surroundings, making note of every detail. Though, when he talks, he talks with an ambitious tone, his words filled with confidence. Vendarith usually keeps himself within the shadows or the forest.

Physical Descriptions:

Vendarith stands at about 6” and weighs around 180 lbs. His fierce eyes glow a deep gold, with hints of red through out the dark swirls. His dark hair flows around his pale face. Vendarith seems graceful yet even frail, his skin a pale ivory white, usually covered with a hood and just mere clothing or leather for armor.

Background:

Cold and alone at an age where he still sought after his mother’s hand in the middle of the night, Vendarith was stricken with the kind of terror and anger that strikes the very core of the soul. Alone; not by choice, but from the hand of death forced upon his family in the form of an assassin. The little boy had escaped somehow that night and found himself exhausted amid the interlaced hands of tree boughs and the foreboding whispers of the wood…

It was some time after that the boy was found and taken in by an Elven Ranger of the woods by the name of Thaimor Liadon. Vendarith was taken in by the Ranger and cared for. It was obvious to this Ranger that a piece of this boys childhood had been torn away forever and he sought to help fix this. The Ranger taught him the ways of tracking and stealth, the art of battle and the Elven tongue. He found Vendarith to be a student that learned easily and eagerly. Although Ven was a quiet student, he always absorbed what was told and caught on very quickly with little question. The years progressed, and so did Vendarith’s skill.

It was another cold night, where the moon fades behind curtains of shifting black while the stars hide their faces completely. A silence clung to the air, and Vendarith lay awake and ready, feeling the approach of an old enemy.

The dark figure came in upon the old house with a speed and certainty. Vendarith and Thaimor were ready. A struggle ensued, the purpose of the visit as sure as the dark of the outside. Vendarith faught death away from himself this last time, the assassin that had came finally defeated in the attempt to clear the whole of Ven’s family; however, Vendarith was still faced with a loss this night. Thaimor had fallen. Once again death had ripped a piece of Vendarith from the inside.. With the loss of his only friend he vowed that from this day forward he would no longer be pursued by death. He would become it.
