| Arcanis the wacher01-27-05, 11:30 PM | how would i go about playing a blind archer. my DM said that is what i am going to play, and i dont mind, i just dont know how? |
| GnomFoo01-27-05, 11:51 PM | well, if you want what classes you could take to overcome your blindness, you could do a combonation nomad/cleric/seeker of the misty isle. 2 levels of nomad(for synthestate-sp?- and the required ranks of survival) and then cleric for the spell casting req. You would have to be an elf of some kind(half-elf included as a possibility). You would use synthesate when in combat to negate the effects of your blindness With seeker of the misty isle you would have good listen and spot(when you are actually able to see). As to how you would play it... i would reccomend a VERY kind character, knowing his disability(be it form birth, or some accident as a child) as being a challenge from his god, pissble makes people think he is useless, just ot surprise them with excellent accuracy on the battlefield with his bow. Maybe using his wisdom instead of his dex when using ranged weapons(would make sense with a high wisdom for spells, and a good listen). Would probably be very deicated to his god, memorizing the texts instead of reading them, such as with autohypnosis, but maybe a bit more than the limits normally list as seen fit by your dm. Hope this helps some... good luck... and excuse my typos, im kinda in a hurry |
| CHEESE GOD01-28-05, 05:54 AM | Your DM is making you play this? What the.... O_o |
| The_Yellow_Dart_Swinger01-28-05, 10:27 AM | Your DM is making you play this? What the.... O_o I agree. My question is if your DM is giving you something to over come this handy cap? After all every enemy is under the effects of a constant total concealment which is a 50% chance of missing him. Providing your character can even pinpoint the enemy. Chances are your DM is going to make you take a listen check vs the enemies move silently. But you'll get a +5 to the DC for being in combat and an additional +1 every 10 ft away the enemy is. And since your blind I would say that if you don't make the listen DC by a certian amount you might mix up your party memebers with the enemy in the chaos since you obviously can't see them. Best thing to do with blind characters is get blind sight/sense immeditaly. Their are a few magic items that grant it and very few PrC's and they really aren't in line with an archer type character. Really things I'd like to know: 1) Is the DM building the character for you? 2) Does he get some sort of item or special ability that over comes his handy cap (at the very least in combat). Sorry if I can't help with the RP aspects but I've got school in a few. |
| Arcanis the wacher01-28-05, 02:04 PM | the dm like to give me crs, the last one was a deaf person so i played a 1/2orc barb i had amazing spot and searce. and the dm leat me actively searce. and i think i will always be listening chechs. oh and i am not an a party, i am to assassinate the party. |
| Vharuck01-30-05, 09:28 AM | I'd suggest the Psychic Warrior from the XPH and take up the power Touchsight, where you feel the light and therefore basically "see" in a way. |
