It was rumored that he saw who set the house next to him on fire. He says it was a group of Kobolds that used fire magic. In actuality, it was HIM who set the house on fire. His current aspiration is to light the town hall on fire. Battle Tactics: Bob always prepares his battle ground beforehand. He uses his ten flasks of oil (Which he replenishes after every fight) and covers the 2x3 rectangle in front of the door with oil to make it slippery. He also lays out the oil in a 1x4 shape 10 feet in front of him. Hopefully, his enemies will slip either on the oil by the door or on the oil in front of him. At the beginning, he has an arrow in his flaming longbow as a ready action. When someone trips, he fires the arrow in their general direction. A hit OR a miss at a prone enemy will set off all of the oil, causing 1d6 of heat damage along with the bow damage (Eeeevil!) If an enemy closes range with him, he takes a 5-foot step backwards and chucks a flask of Alcemists fire. Sorry for the long post, but this is a pyromaniac character I made for a level 1 party. I came up with him and a level 1 plot after I generated him with the NPC generator. Is he too strong? Let me know. |
| Trask05-19-05, 03:31 PM | A bit powerful for level 1... He could easily TPK a party of 4 first level adventurers. That is, if they're not prepared at all for him - so I guess it'd be their own fault. :) Of course, the party would probably get to him at about level 2...so if they were smart, they could take him. And at level 3, probably a fair fight. |
| The_Yellow_Dart_Swinger05-19-05, 03:46 PM | well, at first level any wizards or sorcerer's would probably fall just by the fire and arrow damage. And any d6 classes wouldn't fare much better. Your probably better off using bob against a party of second or third level. Just give bob a few low level hench men. Also if the fight happens on his terms that pretty much ups the CR by at least one since he has the clear advantage unless the PC's find out ahead of time and neutralize that advantage. |

The idea is that he mis-directs the PCS into believing that a group of Kobolds are responsible for lighting his NEIGHBOR'S house on fire. The PCS go and kill the kobolds (With a Kobold Adept, who DOESN'T use fire magic) before returning to find the Town Hall ablaze and the Mayor trapped inside. I'd give them two minutes to find the mayor and get out before the burning building collapses. (If there's a Paladin in the party, there's no choice BUT to go in). I could probably give just enough XP for that to level them up. I guess I could incorporate a few more Kobolds... EDIT: This is the first campaign I've come up with that I think I can be proud of. It's a really-really hard and will probably keep my players on their toes. I want to make a good first impression for my first time as a DM. |
