I am playing a Stoutheart Halfing Swordsage in an Eberron game. I am an initiate of a monk-like order for swordsages. It is LG and might be associated with Dol Arrah. At the same time, as a halfling, I have more chaotic tendencies and am tempted to follow Dol Dorn. I will be neutral good, and I want that inner struggle between my mind (LG, the order, Dol Arrah) and my heart (CG, Dol Dorn). The problem is, I am not sure how to play that character. In real life, I tend to be LG, and I've never been a very good roleplayer. But I like this character concept, and want to get into it. I am not even sure what this means for my character. I understand the theoretical part (I wrote it), but what does it really mean? I am not sure what "chaotic tendencies" really means. I don't know what events would spark a moral dilemma. Any ideas? I am looking for anything: things that are going through my character's head, possible times where the struggle would show itself, etc. Anything and everything to help flush out this character. Thanks a lot.

The simplest suggestion would be to merely talk your way through such quandries. A simple "No, that way lies madness" before choosing a lawful action or "I must remember my lessons. Look before leaping or fall into a raptors mouth." after a chaotic one.

You seem to be playing someone who wants to be lawfull and has difficulty with such. That means when you act in a moment with passion you should bend towards chaos and chastise yourself afterwards. When you have time to think and choose your actions take it though. Come up with some lessons you were taught in the past that you can reflect on in appropriate situations.
