| Bobfred2104-22-06, 06:05 PM | //Alright, I'm going to be playing this character soon on an NWN Persistant World server called the Savage Frontier (and if you play on this server, unless you are a DM there, TURN BACK NOW, read the posts on the message board about her, here: http://savagefrontier.14.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=478 In any case, this character is a fire Genasi, wizard and I wanted some help fleshing her out. For now I'll post the back story I have written up for her, feel free to give constructive criticism on the writing as well.// Awakening Cailet stirred, her head throbbing. Alarm shot through her as she realized she was bound, hands and feet, by metallic manacles, to a large stone table . Her wrists and ankles were sore from trying to escape the bonds, even in her sleep. Her heart beat faster as the comprehension of hern situation settled in. She looked around the room, it was large and dark, she saw four other tables, one to her left and three to her right. Each table, except for the far table to her right was occupied by another person, each of which seemed to be in some kind of daze, a distant look in their eye, jaws hanging open, it didn't seem as though they were aware of their predicament. "Hey!" Cailet whispered loudly, at the nearest, the woman nearest her had great red wings and was covered in scales. She was offered no reply, even after the second and third try. Cailet tried to wiggle her way out of the manacles to no avail. After a moment she gave up, examining the room again, looking for a possible escape. The room was warm, very warm, most would have found the heat unbearable but the elemental blood running through her veins protected her from it. She searched but she could not find the heat source, it was possible that the source was on the far side of the room below her feet, she couldn't lift herself up enough to see beyond them. Cursing under her breath, Cailet pulled hard against her bindings, but they bit into her flesh painfully, drawing red lines in her skin. Frustrated Cailet screamed "Help! Someone! I'm trapped!" She heard a shuffling and a surprised "Hmm?" from her blindspot, then a long pause and a voice, "Miss Cailet?" "Yes, who's there!?" Cailet said, panicked. "It's me, your master. I thought I'd sedated you..." Said the voice and Cailet's heart sank. "Damnit who are you? Why am I here?" "Yes... I did sedate you," She heard a strange Ting, and then footsteps coming in her direction, "Interesting... You're Genasi biology is different then the others... This sedative must be inneffective on you." A tall, white haired figure in a long white robe appeared at her feet. She didn't recognize him. "What the hell's going on? Who are you?" She growled. The man just smirked, "Very interesting, you see, that sedative was a very powerful drug, and it has a different effect on each of you," the man made a gesture at the tables around her, "now, I know the dragon kin to your left will be the first to recover from it, probably by a few hours, yet I wasn't aware the Fire Genasi's immune system nuetralized the chemical." Cailet growled, pulling furiously against the bindings. She saw a slow smile spread across the man's face, "Well atleast you live up to the reputation of your kin. Miss Cailet, resistance is futile, you will not break those bindings, they're made of reinforced Mithril. If you co-operate you will not be hurt and eventually you will be taken back home." She stopped her resistance, "What do you want with me? Who are you? How'd I get here?" "In good time my darling, for now, you need to sleep." Alarm shot through her once more as she saw him produce a large needle from behind his back, she tried to pull away within the confines of the manacles but she couldn't move fast enough and in a moment the needle slipped into her shoulder and drained it's fluid into her. A wave of dizziness assaulted her. She felt for a moment as though she might pass out but she resisted the attack. "Who the... hell are y...ou?" Her voice came out slow and groggy, though the intitial dizziness had passed. She saw the man smile even as the world darkened around her, and a loud silence filled her ears. |
| Bobfred2104-22-06, 06:05 PM | Companions in Captivity Drip. Cailet slowly became aware of a loud buzzing sound in her ears and a sharp pain between her eyes. She could distantly make out the sounds of voices, though who's and where they were eluded her. She could hear the sound of water dripping. Drip. The sounds and sensations of the room around her slowly became more focused. There were several people around her and more people some distance to her left. The room was cold, and she could now more clearly hear the voices around her. Drip. "You sure she's still alive?" Came a deep masculine voice somewhere to her left. "Yeah." Came the reply, voice deep and bit scratchy though feminine, none-the-less. "She hasn't moved in like four hours..." A third voice, higher pitched and definately female, "Maybe check again?" "No." The second voice replied. Cailet searched her memory. How had she gotten there? She struggled with the thought a moment, she knew the memory was there but she couldn't remember, almost like having a word on the tip of one's tongue. She felt a pinch on her shoulder and suddenly recalled the mad man and his needle. Drip. "Uhg... Fine I'll check." Said the third voice and, she heard someone shuffling toward her. More by instinct then awareness her hand leaped into motion, and she heard a gasp of surprise even as she realized she had someone by the wrist. "See?" Said the second voice. Drip. Cailet opened her eyes slowly, she was in what looked like a prison cell. The room was dimly lit by some kind of magical light, and even light so dim caused a sharp pain in her head. The walls and roof were covered with runes. Groaning she closed her eyes again. Drip. "Damn, what the hell did he give her? Never hit any of us like that." Came the first voice. "Hey, you okay?" Asked the third voice. Cailet's brow furrowed, of course she wasn't okay! She'd been abducted and was being held against her will, "Where am I..?" "Prison cell." Came the second voice. "That's a big help." She spat sarcastically as she forced herself into a sitting position, eyes opening. The owner of the second voice, the winged, scaled woman that had been bound beside her simply shrugged, and there was a long silence. Cailet took the opportunity to get a better grasp of her surroundings. The dragon blooded woman was leaning against the wall in front of her, looking grim. She had long black hair, red eyes and very pale skin. To her left, on her knees, appearing to be fascinated with the Genasi was a short being, halfling if Cailet was right, who was covered in tattoos of fire, with red hair and eyes. The halfling would have been around two years younger then Cailet. Behind the halfling, sitting against the wall was a large, bald man, who was nearly eight feet tall, a slight smirk on his face. Drip. On the other side of the bars, across the rather large hall Cailet could see more cells, each of which contained people, often with strange traits, some were Genasi of other elements, others were drow, others were gnomes, others giant, and others things she didn't even recognize. She could hear hushed whispering coming from many of the cells, some of which were out of her range of sight. Drip. "Well, welcome to our humble abode!" The halfing smiled at her, "I'm Meria, the grouchy dragon lady over there," Meria gestured, "is Neferkari, and the brute behind me is Ki'az'qul... I just call them Kari and Ki though." Each nodded as they were introduced and, Cailet's frown deepened, "Why are we here?" "Well... That's a bit harder to explain..." Meria said, frowning a bit. "I expect Master will explain it to you before the next round of experiments." "Whoa... Slow down, experiments? Master?" Cailet shook her head, confused. Neferkari sighed, "Master will explain..." They fell into silence and, the dripping continued. |
| Bobfred2104-22-06, 06:06 PM | Project Phoenix Over the next few days, Cailet discovered that the room they were in was magically enchanted, it provided their bodies with magical sustenance. The runes were impervious to damage and, each of them was wearing a golden bracelet on their right wrist that prevented the casting of any spells, not that this effected Cailet, though it did effect Neferkari. The days had been long and boring, marked by little disturbance. The four had spent the time getting more familiar with each other. Kari had been there the longest at two and a half weeks, then Ki after her having been there only two weeks, and Meria having been there for three days before Cailet showed up. They were involved in some kind of magical experimentation. Kari was the quietest, she seemed to be filled with anger at the situation, and so was Cailet for that matter, she couldn't really understand the other two. Ki was sarcastic, he didn't particularly like the situation but he never seemed angry about it, more or less resigned. Meria was a complete mystery to Cailet, how she maintained her optimistic view through such an ordeal didn't make any sense to her. So far, it seemed Cailet was the only one to have suffered the memory loss. On her fourth day in the cell, the mad arcanist appeared at their bars, a vacant looking, silver haired tiefling girl in his wake. "Come now, it's time." The mad man smiled at them, even as the bars of their cell popped open. Cailets heart skipped a beat, he was letting them out of their cell and he was nearly unprotected! The four of them shuffled out of the cell, the others didn't seem to share Cailet's excitement. Their "master" lead them out of the prison room, into a long hall. Now was her chance. Cailet leapt into the air, intent on wrapping her arms around his neck and choking him until he passed out. Mid air, Cailet heard someone behind her shout "No!" before she saw a flash of electricity and felt pain shoot through her body, as every muscle in it contracted. "Hmm... You didn't warn her?" She heard the mad man ask, but it was dulled and in a moment she heard and saw nothing more. She awoke on one of the stone tables, bound once again. She felt a bit groggy but otherwise okay. Looking around she saw the tiefling, still looking vacant, bound on the table to her right, and Kari, who seemed awake and aware, was bound to her right. "What the hell happened?" Cailet groaned, quietly at Kari. Kari, surprised, turned to regard her, she opened her mouth to speak but another voice stopped her. The voice of their captor, "Ah, Miss Cailet, you're awake. Good, then soon we will be able to begin." She heard some shuffling and jingling, he was once again hidden by her inability to look past her feet, "Begin what?" "Well, now that all of the participants are here, I can explain." He said, coming into her line of sight. "You have all been hand selected for the priviledge of participating in an arcane experiment known as Project Phoenix. You will refer to me as Master. Now, normally you would not be bound right now, as I prepare for the experiments, however due to Miss Cailet's attempt on my life, the situation is different this time. In the future I will allow you to remain unbound until the experiment begins, but know that any attempts to bring harm to me will result in an incident similiar to what Miss Cailet has just experienced. Do not try to escape, it will not work and, for that matter, you have no reason to want to escape, these experiments will grant you power unlike anything you've ever dreamed." "You kidnapped us against our will!" Cailet growled. "Against your will? Hmm... If you say so." The "master" smiled. "What kind of power?" Ki asked. "The power of the Phoenix." |
| Bobfred2104-22-06, 06:06 PM | Runes Cailet examined the runes on the wall of their cell. There were so many, hundreds, maybe thousands, but many of them were the same runes. She knew some of them had to do with sustaining the four, giving them the sustenance of water and food. Kari, who stood beside her recognized some of the runes, but wasn't familiar with the process, her magic came from her blood, not runes and study. Cailet didn't know anything about magic but she was smart enough to know that if she could figure out all of the wards placed on the room it might help them escape. Kari was helping her but the process was a slow one. Kari said she recognized some of the runes in a particular segment, she could tell it had to do with her sorcerous blood but she couldn't tell much else from it. At another portion she found a pair of runes meaning gold bracelet, the two had agreed that the segment had to do with the bracelets on their wrists. On the door there were several runes, and while Kari had said she didn't recognize them the two women were sure the runes had to do with keeping the gate locked. A small portion of the runes on the back wall were written in red and looked as though they contained a burning fire, but the runes were beyond Kari's comprehension. Ki'az'qul continuously scoffed at the two, they couldn't even understand half of the runes how on Abeir-Toril was it going to help them escape? If anything, not understanding it fully could hurt their chances of escape and incur the masters wrath. That, however didn't discourage them. They'd take whatever chances they could at escape, no matter how slim the chances were or how dangerous it was. |
