| Lord_Cronos09-11-07, 09:57 AM | Can a paladin become a cleric with out losing anything, like his divine health and such? |
| CrimsonDeath09-11-07, 12:19 PM | As long as he remains Lawful Good and continues to follow his Code of Conduct, he keeps all of his Paladin abilities. Keep in mind, however, that he can't gain any more Paladin levels after he takes levels in any other base class, or most prestiege classes. |
| Mr_Seth09-11-07, 08:36 PM | If you go "by the book", you can't gain any more Paladin levels. That said, talk to your DM. It doesn't make much sense to restrict cleric as you would other classes, flavor-wise... if he's in a generous mood, he'll probably let you. That said, no, you're not going to lose any Paladin abilities as long as you keep the Code of Conduct. |
| Terjon of the Blue Rose09-13-07, 12:28 AM | Also in the Forgotten Realms there are several Gods which allow free multiclassing as paladins and there are a few feats which allow you to freely (and more succesfully) multi-class between paladin and other classes in the Complete series. |

I don't think there are any feats for a Paladin/Cleric multiclass. I'm AFB, but I seem to recall that Paladins of Helm can multiclass freely as Clerics. (Can we get independent verification of this? All I remember for sure is that Clerics of Ilmater can multiclass freely as Monks.) |
| Terjon of the Blue Rose09-13-07, 04:22 AM | You sure? I could have sworn Complete Champion had some of those multiclass feats for paladins. Dunno I'll have to check next time I get access to the book. Probably won't be for a week though... Also I'm pretty sure that Helm's paladins multiclass as fighters I think Illmater lets you go between cleric and paladin. |
| CrimsonDeath09-13-07, 12:17 PM | I am quite certain that Ilmater's clerics can multiclass as monks, largely because I was once toying with the idea of a Raptoran Monk/Cleric of Ilmater. (I eventually abandoned the idea.) Furthermore, Ilmater's favored weapon is the unarmed strike. (Must look interesting when one of his clerics casts Spiritual Weapon. I bet the disembodied fist that appears has a bloody stump and everything.) |
| Infinitive09-13-07, 01:46 PM | This is the part where I'd ask DM permission and, if (s)he's agreeable, throw in a houserule feat, maybe like this: Pious Champion Reqs: Must be able to Turn Undead from two different sources, Special Mount class feature. Benefits: Your Paladin and Cleric levels stack to determine the effectiveness of your Turn undead ability, as well as the capabilities of your Special Mount. You may freely multiclass between Paladin and Cleric. It takes up a feat slot and you get what you want, with a couple of bonus riders. Plus, you can't do it till your 6th level feat slot. So there. |

Benefits: Your Paladin and Cleric levels stack to determine the effectiveness of your Turn undead ability, as well as the capabilities of your Special Mount. You may freely multiclass between Paladin and Cleric. Paladin and Cleric levels already stack to determine the effectiveness of turning. Unless you mean you can stack your full Paladin level, rather than your Paladin level -3. |
| Lord_Cronos09-13-07, 04:25 PM | where is pious champ located? |
| CrimsonDeath09-13-07, 05:24 PM | where is pious champ located? It's not. Infinitive just made it up. |
| Terjon of the Blue Rose09-13-07, 11:38 PM | I checked earlier today. According to Player's Guide to FR there are several dieties that allow paladins to multiclass. Tyr, Torm (allows to any one other class), Lathander, Ilmater, Helm, and one or two others allow clerics as free multi-classing. |
