| Rinonalyrna Fathomlin09-27-03, 02:26 AM | There are generators out there (feel free to post links if you know of some good ones), but I would like some actual, personal suggestions as well. :) I think this is the proper forum to ask this question in. I need names for: --female half-elven paladin --male human cleric --female elven fighter --male human wizard --male halfling bard/rogue Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. |
| Alrunic Silverfyre09-27-03, 02:46 AM | female half-elven paladin: Raine, Lilith, Amanthila, Vadania male human cleric: Haethus, Michael, Valeris, Galathial female elven fighter: Seluna, Mysthilis, Safira, Lelahtiaha, Tiara male human wizard: Aramil, Avaris, Balinthan, Jerhad male halfling bard/rogue: Calis, Eldon, Fabian "Quickfingers" Boddyknocker Just a few names I came up with...hope this helps. |
| Poukis09-27-03, 06:52 AM | If you are playing a forgotten realms campaign there are suggestions for names depending on the regions you hail from... If you have FRGS you could take a look... Anyway... --female half-elven paladin: Depending on her background she could have a human or elven name... Since elves rarely become paladins, (and since Alrunic already gave you elven names!) I'll give you some human names... Marylith, Keit, Aervene, Danah --male human cleric: Kelleth, Daereth, Kimbil, Ethegor --female elven fighter: Lithera, Cynthia, Miraella, Orethiia --male human wizard: Bolthar, Loviethar, Karaeth, Jaether --male halfling bard/rogue: Marilo, Jutipus, Woolidoc, Vudirin, Poukis :D These are the ones that I could think of... BTW nice party! I wish that I could play in a balanced party for once in my life! Have fun... |
| Eldarion Elenath09-27-03, 08:50 AM | While we're at it how about a male half elf (elven raised) bard/spellsinger/heartwarder/virtuoso? |
| Poukis09-27-03, 09:25 AM | How about Lucianae Pav'aroti? :D Wow... Haven't seen that many prestige classes in a single character! |

Thank you! :D I'm glad you like the party. And thanks to all for the name suggestions. :) I assure you I've taken a little bit of everything, and I appreciate the help. |
| Otto the Bugbear09-28-03, 10:17 AM | Glad you found something you like, even if I didn't help out. But I can help. Of course everyone knows (or should know) there is a ton of name generation stuff on the net. Finding one isn't too difficult. Thanks for stating the obvious, right? Actually, I have something that may be help. If you need a hard copy of something for easy use around the gaming table, look around (probably on Ebay) for an old 2ed accessory called the Player's Survival Kit. It was from the Mystara campaign, but one of the books in it contains around 1000 names. For our group it's been a great help (especially for the people without internet access). Cheers Otto :) [edit: okay, I looked and there's only one on ebay right now. More luck might be had at game stores. It's actually called "Dungeon Master's Survial and Player's Kit". |

| Alrunic Silverfyre09-28-03, 04:26 PM | That or just pick up a copy of a baby names book. We got one at Target for 5.00 dollars and it has over 20,000 names for both boys and girls in it. A grand help for the role player.... And if it gets down to it, if you like a name, just change a vowel and it will sound more "fantasyish". |
| Rinonalyrna Fathomlin09-30-03, 01:43 PM | Thanks, Alrunic. :) |
| Alrunic Silverfyre09-30-03, 02:28 PM | Anytime! Just leave the halfling sacrifice at the back door and I'll make sure to leave you good suggestions.:D |
| Otto the Bugbear09-30-03, 05:06 PM | Actually, I just remembered another great source for D&D names. The many sites that deal with foriegn names and their translations. Our cats (sphynx's) are all named after old egyptian words/phrases and the names are very appropriate for D&D. Others I've seen that work out well are any of the "viking" countries, but almost anything non-english works out fairly well. Actually, I should rephrase that to say "any other language". After all, who's to say that our European, Asian, African, Australian, etc. friends won't find some English names that feel are appropriate for their game. This link (http://www.20000-names.com) should be a help. Cheers Otto :teach: |
| TheMightyMcClaw10-01-03, 06:36 PM | Remember.... a name is more than just a bunch of syllables that sound pretty. It's a title, a descriptor.... an identity (Ominous thunder). It's also a good place to screw around. --female half-elven paladin: Lady Smiticus (a variant of the archetyple paladin "Sir Smiticus"). Or, if you want it more elven, Lady Smiticusithal. --male human cleric: Reverend Jim Jones. --female elven fighter: Korgar the Destroyer. --male human wizard: Infernus Destructus Maximus VIII. --male halfling bard/rogue: Lawrence Welk. |
| TinySilverChalice10-01-03, 08:20 PM | --male halfling bard/rogue: Lawrence Welk. No way, that's a orcish blackguard's name if I ever heard one! |
| Ferat10-02-03, 10:50 PM | female half-elven paladin: Raine, Lilith, Amanthila, Vadania Lol, on a side note, I find it a bit odd that you say the name Lilith for a Paladin with the whole story about her being the first woman and mother of all demons and all :P Just stroke me as odd. |
| Alrunic Silverfyre10-03-03, 01:11 AM | Heh..I am glad someone else got the joke. |
