So, I'm going to play an Elder Dragonwrought Kobold Sorcerer/Mage of The Arcane Order. (What? Don't give me that look!)

I've pretty much cleared out what he has been doing with his life and why he's away from his tribe, but I have no idea how he got into the Arcane Order. And since I've planned to have many, many years of him adventuring alone as a sorcerer before becoming a Mage of The Order, there's really no need to consider his life before the Order.

So, I need ideas and tips of WHY he's now a member of the Order, and what kind of a life does he have there. All help is much appreciated.

- Seeking protection: An encounter with a nemesis left him in a pretty bad shape, and he suddenly realised he needed help if he wanted to survive. Or the encounter was not really related with his nemesis, but he still had a sudden feeling of vulnerability.

- Legal thing: His adventures lead him to a city or country, and the local guard won't leave him alone until he's legit. The quickest way was to make a deal with this Arcane Order band.

- Sudden friendship/love: After years of traveling alone, he suddenly meets an arcane caster, and he realizes he cares for him/her. This friend insist to have him be more social, and has him enter the Order.

- Power seeking: After researching for years for some specific spells, he realises the only way to learn it is through the Arcane Order...

good suggestions. I'll add one.

-- Mutual curiosity. The order finds him an interesting specimen to study. He finds them to be much the same.
