My DM said that I have to make this character more for roleplaying (make a back story, base stats off of it, rather than the other way around). So, my story so far: Senvir ________ Senvir started life as nobility, born to a male Bronze dragon and a female human, both famous sorcerors. He lived an average life for a noble half-dragon, and he was destined for great things. When he hit his teenage years, his innate arcane abilities started developing. His powers seemed quite strong for his each (though not quite controlled yet), so the elders always wanted to observe his developing mental strengths. Loving the attention, Senvir showed off as much as he possibly could. One night, while practicing with his talents, something went wrong. He managed to cast a very powerful spell, and fell to the ground unconscious. The next morning, something was wrong. His hands didn't seem the same. He walked over to a mirror, and ran to his parents screaming. They couldn't look at him, and had him removed (though it took a quite a few unseen servants to move him). Everyone was laughing at him. "A centaur!" his once friends scoffed. He ran away as fast as he could. He kept running and running, and finally he stopped to rest and get some food in the forest he had run into. He heard some nearby rustling, and hid. Being over 7 feet tall now, he couldn't hide very well. From a nearby bush, two fairly strong elven monks popped out. Senvir looked distraught, so they asked him what had happened. He explained the entire story to them. The entire time, they were admiring his muscles and powerful limbs and body. They asked him if they could ride on him, and if they could, they would lead him some place that he would like. He agreed, quite perplexed. After what seemed like a few hours, they arrived at a monastery. For the next year or so, Senvir trained to become a monk. Finally, he made it, and was offered a cell of his own to live in, and much else, if he would agree to a vow of poverty. He thought about it for a few days. However, during this time, his old arcane abilities started coming back. Those who he could once called family started to not trust him nearly as much as they used to. Finally, being used to being in the lap of luxury, he decided to run off during the night. With everything he had once loved gone, he took to the forest, and practiced and practiced and practiced his arcane abilities, until he could control them fairly well. One day, while collecting food, he met an adventuring party consisting of 5-6 members, each who had had a life similar to his own. They told him of their adventures, and he learned much of the world that he had never known from his two lives. He asked them if he could go with them, and they were happy to add another member to their party. That day, Senvir made a vow that he would, somehow, regain his draconic heritage. Back to it being a game: Pretty much, his progression is going to be taking levels in sorceror until he can get levels in Dragon Disciple. He is going to go to level 10 in Dragon Disciple, so he will once again be a half-dragon. I think he would pick green dragon for the class, because he spent his recent life in nature, and he was turned against by his family, which is Bronze dragon, so anything similar to that would be a no. For all of the bonus feats he gets, I'm thinking the draconic heritage feats. But, I'm not sure what type of familiar he should get. What would match his present mood and personality best, as his first level in sorceror is gained around the time that he meets the party. Any advice is welcome! Thanks! |

The background is fairly comprehanesive, though a little chaotic for my tastes. I like the starting out as a half-dragon and then wanting to regain it. Bronze dragon nobles kicking their kids out of the castle because of a bad spell is a stretch. There's a good chance they would still be looking for you. So you need to have a reason not to want to be found. Perhaps the shame is too much to bear. Or the change gave you a mental snap which is keeping you away. Or perhaps it wasn't your own spell that changed you- at least not directly. After being watched so closely all the time, you couldn't help but rebel and try out some magic in private- stuff that you weren't supposed to touch. You summoned something nasty that ended up cursing you. The best your parents could do against the curse is to make you into a centaur (as opposed to whatever horrible creature you were before- maybe a nightmare?). However, you were still exiled from the kingdom for practicing forbidden magic. At the end of the stroy, I'm not sure what made Sevnir suddenly want to reclaim his draconic heritage. Because he felt his arcane abilities return? Hope this helps. |
