Okay, Im having a hard time trying to explain my character, here's what I got so far, He will be an elven ranger (archer) /sorcerer. The sorcerer skills will not be very developed, they will be towards the defensive and item creation side of magic. I know it's not much but any ideas at all would be appreciated, sorry for the lack of information.

Umm... this probably has little to nothing to do with helping with your character's biography, but the Master of the Yuirwood prestige class sounds like it was made for your character. It's in the Unapproachable East book. I guess the description of it and the region it's based in could offer suggestions for his background and beliefs, though, if you decided to use it.

Some possible deities to check out for him to worship might be Fenmarel Mestarine and Solonor Thelandira. Reading their descriptions might help you come up with personality and background ideas. They are both in the FRCS Deities Supplement, which can be downloaded from the WotC D&D homepage.

You haven't really listed much for us to go on for your character, except his race and classes. How do you imagine him? Is he mistrustful of others? Quiet? Brooding? Friendly and open? Perhaps he's absent minded? Or a sharp-tongued pranster?

Im starting him off flat, lvl 1. I was thinking of kind of a quiet type that speaks only when spoken too, and also has a leader quality about him. He'll probably have almost a lone rogue attitude about him.

Peoples’ life experiences help mould their personalities; the same should hold true for a D&D character. You’ve said that he’s quiet, independent, and a good leader. His background should lead naturally into these personality traits.

Some random ideas:
Quiet because – spent a lot of time alone, was mistreated as a child, liked to read, or daydreams a lot
Independent because – has been betrayed by those he trusted, has past success at solving problems on his own, or likes to go wandering off
Good Leader because – thinks problems though, has learned from another good leader, or placed in past situations where he had to lead others

I would wrap a few of these ideas into a background story that fits into you campaign setting. Its difficult to suggest specific background as elven societies can differ drastically from one campaign world to another.

Finally, I really don’t like character backgrounds that are overly epic or sensational. Keep it simple. Your character’s most memorable deeds should occur during the campaign, not during his pre-campaign background story.
